Thank you thank you thank you. As a 35 year old who’s changing careers to pursue becoming a commercial pilot, this video was very inspiring and that it is indeed possible!
As always it is a great video! It gave me a lot of energy. I am 33 years old, and the last week I started my Modular training, with PPL. As you could say in a video: "You never too old!" :-) Thank you Petter! Much more fantastic video, please!
Thanks allot .. I'm 31 with my ppl and instrument rated.. I was starting to feel like I'm too old and was opting out to Flight UAVs in the U.S .. But this video made me reconsider.. Thank you
I rarely comment on videos since the time I've been around RUclips in 2008, but man, this is so inspirational, motivating and satisfying. I feel so happy Daniel became a F/O at 41 y/o with ~300hrs TT, I feel so glad as If I know him IRL or something. From the other hand, It's quite demotivating to see 30/35/40 years old having a difficult time getting that first pilot job because they couldn't/didn't get loan and actually worked to collect that flying school money in their 20s/30s, and unfortunately some airlines are just looking for pilots to fill their seats instead of looking for officers that will command their mighty birds. Lastly, people like Daniel and Petter are the thrust of us future pilots' dream, they motivate us and they prove that It's never too late. Congratulations Daniel and Thank You Petter for yet another interesting video. P.S. See you in a decade, when I'll have my licenses ready.
What a great and motivating interview! Listening to Daniel is my own story. Until my late 30's I didn't had the chance to go into aviation. I did my modular training while working and got my license and MCC. The only sad thing is that seems much harder to get called for assesments when you are "old".
Great video, and just at the right time for me! Thanks to Daniel for giving this interview! I am 35, and in a bit of the same situation as Daniel. Steady job in IT, house and a wife, but no kids. Starting to feel the claustrophobia of my current job and having a dream about flying. Looking around at the integrated courses and finding them expensive and maybe not very realistic to do with my current living condition. Great that you give your advice on how you did the modular route Daniel, and would love to hear more about this way of doing it. Judging by the last question that was cut off I guess the next part will be about the challenges of doing this change when being a bit older then the norm, and I am very much looking forward to seeing that video as well!
What a great video and what Daniel is saying is very recognizable! I am also working on my modular after quiting my dreadfull job and hope to achieve the same awesome goal as well. Good-luck!!
Awesome video yet again. I'm doing ATPL's via Distance but also doing my hour building at the same time. It definitely helps massively to have a couple days of the month to step away from the books and back into an aircraft. Will refuel your motivation undoubtedly! I highly recommend doing that. Especially if you're going to be studying for longer than 6 months! Also agree massively on his outlook at ATPL's. You see a lot of people moaning and groaning that just want to pass - that's not having true passion for aviation. It's interesting stuff!
I went down the modular route as well, started at 23 & finished when I was 27. 3 years on I'm still looking for a flying job but on a positive note I'm debt free😁✈️
+Mentour Pilot More interviews of new pilots, how they get to thier goal. Same as the this video, just new pilots. Tanks a lot for using your free time for project like this, this is very helpfull and i belive helped a lot of pilots.
Great interview! Congratulations to Daniel!! I see myself in the same situtaion. I''m also got an economics degree and had the chance to finance my flight training. I'm currently pursuing my CPL and saving money for MULTI, IFR and MCC training. The age issue was very motivating, since I'm 27 now! Congratulations Mentour and Daniel! Can't wait for 2nd part.
thank you so much COMDT.Hörnfeldt and also Daniel !! because Daniel it's not the perfect example for me, Daniel is the only example that i know of an Economist who has a dream of becoming a pilot and made it a reality ! you may think i over reacted, but as you know i'm from Morocco and here if you don't have a high school degree in Mathematic Science you just don't think about it, and this interview just made me more focused and determined to reach my goals ! have a good day every one :D !
graças senhor! seus vídeos e entrevistas são realmente de grande ajuda. eles responder a maioria das minhas dúvidas e nossa muito útil. graças pelo bom trabalho
absolutly a wonderful video !!! never give up guys if you have any kind of problem loke economic problem medical issues and some many others this video will let you know that's never too late , you can do every thing you want!! thanks a lot captain i really appreciate your hard work for us ! ☺✈✈✈
Another 35y wannabe pilot here!! Mentour you might interview me in 2.5y time - that's my aim to finish my modular training! BTW we work in the same company, right now on the other side of the door. Beautiful channel yours, keeps me super motivated!
This is highly appealing to me and I can fully relate to Daniels situation. I'm happy that there is no need to reinvent the wheel :) I'm getting more inspired on this channel :)
Aerotours for the MCC on the king air! Pretty much the same story here. Its possible if u believe. Hopefully ill see you up there in the 737. Best Regards and congrats.
+Mentour Pilot Hi, Sorry what I meant was Airline cadet schemes or how the process goes for securing airline interviews and making yourself more appealing to airlines. Thanks again!
Hej! Mvh Andreas!
Hi Mentour from Tahiti! I wanted to thank you for all those precious informations you provide in yours videos and this one is inspiring! Where did Daniel get his MCC?
Graduated in 2013 with my integrated training. Still searching for a FO job somewhere. No such thing as giving up. Also not after tomorrow when I turn 31 :D . Respect for you Daniel. Doing it different then the mass telling that INTEGRATED is the ONLY way to go and doing it on Overpriced ATO's.
Thank you Mentour for all your great videos. If possible, Could you please ask Daniel, how much roughly did it cost to get CPL and Rating in Poland? thanks
I'm a Canadian private pilot, going for my CPL. The way I've been studying, is using the question banks and then finding the answers in my books, and reading the entire part related to the question. Do you find this is a productive way of studying? Or am I lining myself up for failure down the road...
+Mentour Pilot Well, between all the books there are give or take 500-700 pages. So no, I can't say i've read the entire thing. I basically did my PPL through home schooling, but I'm considering doing my commercial and ATPL through a proper ground course. What did you fine more difficult in your opinion, your initial flight training, or the training the company gives you when you get hired?
could you tell us which airline he started working with and I would like to know if he did his type rating and approached the airline or he did his type rating with the airline , was their like a possible employment opportunity with his type rating ?
+The Astronomicals ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot Licence) One course consists all of licences and ratings, and CPL is just (Commercial Pilot License). As Daniel, there are two ways to get your licence, one is Modular, you do everything separate in stages,(PPL, Rating,Hours,CPL and so on). The other way is you do one integrated course, which gives you a Frozen ATPL. I believe, if wrong someone correct me!
+vliejeskroket Hi! I did the MCC on a Beechcraft 200. The school's name is FSB located in Trebin, close to Berlin. Very affordable and they're very good. The SOPs really helped me when I got called for a job interview.
Daniel Santos Hi Daniel, tnx for the reply! I did my ATPL theory also with bartolini and i will continue flying this year in november. I came across FSB a while ago but didn't find any feedback yet. Thank you Daniel and mentour , great channel !
I can’t believe am now seeing this video.......here i am with 600 hours with my private pilot and instrument rating done, commercial multi in u.s in Florida and thinking of the 1,500 rule just to be a first officer and someone here is 300 hours and he has a job!!!!!!!! Am going to work on my ATPL exams and get out of the states...... I timebuilt to 600 , I should have considered ATPL exams early enough...., am so upset !! 😤😡
Hi there mentour, Great videos here, One question though. I've heard you need at least 3000 hours to apply to an airline. How did he manage to do it with just 300hours?
thanks christos, is there some way in which i could have a chat about some questions about choosing my flight school. I've gone through a lot on the internet and all answers vary too much. Or is there some website i could go to where i could ask my questions to experts ?
hi mentour, thanks for the video really it gonna chane my life , i am also from europe(france). can i get the contact of Daniel , i think i can get more details from him because i also in same position as him but im 25 now my problem is finace. if a modular programe i can finance for 4 years i can complete. so please guide me ......
+rajee sithu Hi! If the problem is finance I definitely recommend you the modular way. You can do your training at your own pace and chose the schools that you find more adequate for each training stage. I would suggest that you contact the school in Poland - Bartolini Air, where I did part of my training. The price was quite reasonable and they're quite good. Good luck!
+rajee sithu Hi! When I finished the CPL/ME/IR and MCC I started sending applications to airlines. If you check the market you will find that in Europe there are companies recruiting low hour pilots.
Hahaha nice one! Hey if anybody is willing to move to europe or asia, i highly recomend it. The equipment a person will fly and they salary will be way higher than what we get in the states.
Thank you thank you thank you. As a 35 year old who’s changing careers to pursue becoming a commercial pilot, this video was very inspiring and that it is indeed possible!

+Zoltán Sebestyén All the best!
Ok, sounds like he's in Portugal or Poland (?) and his training took 3 yrs. modular training wow, 300 hrs TT and now a FO on 737. Outstanding!
Portugal
Awesome! I'm 24 and about to embark on the modular route. Stories and details about modular success really encourages me. Thank you Mentour.
Thanks allot .. I'm 31 with my ppl and instrument rated.. I was starting to feel like I'm too old and was opting out to Flight UAVs in the U.S .. But this video made me reconsider.. Thank you

Damm Daniel. Back at it again with them new planes.
Thank you Mentour for all your great videos. Could you maybe interview a pilot that has recently got selected with an airline?
+Mentour Pilot Hi, Sorry what I meant was Airline cadet schemes or how the process goes for securing airline interviews and making yourself more appealing to airlines. Thanks again!
+Mentour Pilot Does he work in the same airline as you? :)

Really interesting! Thank you :-)
Wow. Im 23 and I thought already that im in a hurry to start a training.
+juurme Hi! All the best with your training!

Hi Mentour from Tahiti!
I wanted to thank you for all those precious informations you provide in yours videos and this one is inspiring!
Where did Daniel get his MCC?
awesome video!!! I am in similar situation. 1 question i have is- when did he gave his Class 1 medical? was it before starting the coarse ?
Graduated in 2013 with my integrated training. Still searching for a FO job somewhere. No such thing as giving up. Also not after tomorrow when I turn 31 :D . Respect for you Daniel. Doing it different then the mass telling that INTEGRATED is the ONLY way to go and doing it on Overpriced ATO's.
Is there a great risk of skin cancer from the constant exposure to sunlight?
Great videos by the way, always enjoy watching!
Your profile pic looks like it already knows the answer... ;)
Thank you Mentour for all your great videos. If possible, Could you please ask Daniel, how much roughly did it cost to get CPL and Rating in Poland? thanks
+Mentour Pilot thanks already watched it!
What country is Daniel based out of? I know the US FAA requires min. 1500 hrs. To just qualify commercial. Great video! Love the info.

hi Mentour can you tell me about the low hour pilot hiring airlines. location is of no consequence .
thanks !
A modular course can be done in less than 3.5y?
hi today i have interview with airline i am thinking of visiting spain to see the flying schools if think did not work out good today ...
+Mentour Pilot it was great ... gulf air training program for national. ..
I want to do modular training but im afraid of net getting into an airline?
could you tell us which airline he started working with and I would like to know if he did his type rating and approached the airline or he did his type rating with the airline , was their like a possible employment opportunity with his type rating ?
+Mentour Pilot I kinda guessed which airline he is flying and u r flying too I believe it's the same airline :) not gonna reveal it though don't worry
What's the difference between an ATPL and a CPL?
+The Astronomicals ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot Licence) One course consists all of licences and ratings, and CPL is just (Commercial Pilot License). how did YOU get your licenses?
Mark Malleczek wth kind of licence
Any one knows in what school he done his MCC?
its very hard to get a job after getting cpl
Hi, can you give me the school where he did his MCC ? Tnx
+vliejeskroket Hi!
I did the MCC on a Beechcraft 200. The school's name is FSB located in Trebin, close to Berlin. Very affordable and they're very good. The SOPs really helped me when I got called for a job interview.

+jay shukla music right
If I were to say you were RYR, how far off would I be?
Thought so...
He is a Ryanair pilot mate
I can’t believe am now seeing this video.......here i am with 600 hours with my private pilot and instrument rating done, commercial multi in u.s in Florida and thinking of the 1,500 rule just to be a first officer and someone here is 300 hours and he has a job!!!!!!!! Hi there mentour,
Great videos here,
One question though. I've heard you need at least 3000 hours to apply to an airline. How did he manage to do it with just 300hours?
He was very lucky
+Christos Gkekas its wrong in europe also we need 1500hours
in his case we dont know how he got?
thanks christos,
is there some way in which i could have a chat about some questions about choosing my flight school. I've gone through a lot on the internet and all answers vary too much. Or is there some website i could go to where i could ask my questions to experts ?
+Christos Gkekas is it pprune
+Captain Hopi there's a lot of good info on pprune in my opinion, a lot of people say its negative but I choose not to look at it that way
Is Daniel portuguese or brazilian? His accent sounds familiar!
Breno Lucarelli he said he is from Lisbon, so must be Portuguese.
but its my dream
hi mentour, thanks for the video really it gonna chane my life , i am also from europe(france). can i get the contact of Daniel , i think i can get more details from him because i also in same position as him but im 25 now my problem is finace. if a modular programe i can finance for 4 years i can complete. so please guide me ......
+rajee sithu Hi! If the problem is finance I definitely recommend you the modular way. You can do your training at your own pace and chose the schools that you find more adequate for each training stage.

+Daniel Santos thanks a lot for ur rly daniel. ive one more question, with low hours how did u get a job??
+rajee sithu Hi!
When I finished the CPL/ME/IR and MCC I started sending applications to airlines. If you check the market you will find that in Europe there are companies recruiting low hour pilots.
Unfortunately, in the United States its 1000 times harder to get a job flying a 737 without seniority and flight time.
Hahaha nice one! Hey if anybody is willing to move to europe or asia, i highly recomend it. The equipment a person will fly and they salary will be way higher than what we get in the states.
Please captain instagram account !
Let me tell you what I see: a midlife crisis :D
damn daniel
