Hate to be boring, but lovely, lovely Ludwig Van is my favorite. That said, Brahms' 4th and final symphony is leagues above any other. I've always felt that after he wrote it, Johannes B. instinctively knew there was nothing more he could add to this format, so he never composed another. It is profound and beautiful, and if there's a piece of music that can lead me to tears, the 4th is it.

Stravinsky & Shostakovich are my favorite composers. A certain intensity is always present in their works. This is nice.
