What to expect for a cardiac catheterization

  • If you are coming in for a cardiac catheterization, we want you to know what to expect! In the lab, the doctor will thread a thin, hollow tube called a catheter through the arteries and veins to reach the heart. Then, contrast dye is injected through the tube, and X-ray is used to find out if you have any blockages. Treatments can range from medications and lifestyle changes to stenting or surgery. A physician assistant from the U-M Health Frankel Cardiovascular Center shows you the ropes. #cardiology #HeartMonth #heartcath #cardiaccatheterization #GoBlue #hearthealth

    I literally just had this done last Tuesday. It was a false positive, thank God. The worst part is laying in the bed after surgery for 4 to 6 hours.

      @@Awesomefood4u hello! He’s doing well. The doctor said his heart was a disaster but this procedure saved his life. He has a triple hi pass 15 years ago and everything was blocked. He was 100% blocked in the bipass and then 50% in the others.. so.. yeah. He almost died she said. He didn’t have any complications which is a miracle! Thank you Jesus! He’s gotta change his entire lifestyle. Food and diet. He’s doing well so far and is at home. He walked 2 miles today and is eating healthy so far. I’m glad he is changing. It’s a forever thing for him, so just be patient and loving with your mom and see if you can change your lifestyle with her to help her cope if she needs that.
      I’m on WW so I’m encouraging him to do it too! It’s easier to do it together. I got my mom on it too! I’ve lost 80lbs and my mom has lost 35!
      If you’re interested for her, it’s worth it!!!

    If you would be so kind as to answer a quick question.... is there an anesthesiologist in the surgical suite to provide the sedation during cardiac catheterization?

    • @bronsonleach3573
      @bronsonleach3573 4 месяца назад +1

      You shouldn't be getting any anesthesia other than local or nerve blocks. General Anesthesia is too dangerous for this kinda procedure, especially on a stressed heart. If you are nervous, they can give you medication to help with the stress but avoid versed, which can cause memory loss.

  • @thatsry4071

    What does it mean when is says “sedation”. Cause I can’t. I can’t see the equipment or hear stuff or I’m flat into a panic attack. Doesn’t mean asleep ? Or like a xanex ?😮
