Has anyone considered putting, like the yoga mat under the deck plate to dampen the sound? That way, it will never wear out, as you are not walking directly on it. I just got the Big Fish 108, and think I will try that method. Plus, it wouldn't have to be glued at all since it would be sandwiched
I did this mod to my 105 back in early Spring. My heels have wore out the mat where they rest while paddling. Other than that it has held up pretty well. Super dirty now too. I didn’t take as much time to template the mat. I didn’t want to mess with the deck screws. I did cut out the mat in the back where the seat rests in back groves in the low setting so I wouldn’t tear the mat.
I was just going to throw a huk truck floor board mat in it but this looks better.
In the process of upgrading from a sit in to a sit on top, knowing what you know now with the deck of this kayak would you have gone a different route. I’m down to the Big Fish 105, and Old Town topwater 106. Thanks! Also, Central Arkansas fisherman!

Should you ever decide to take the velcro off completely, how would you remove the residue it might leave behind?

I after much research decided to order the same kayak in that terra camo color. My question is how did this velcro idea work out compared to a spray glue? because I agree about it being difficult to remove after it wears out which it will.
How do you think this kayak would do on the little red river or buffalo?

Are the screws not long enough to place the mat under the floor? That seems like it would be easier and more secure?
Hey I’m late to the party but why not put in between the two if it’s just for sound?
Spray the whole thing with plasti dip. Its very duribale and has a rubber texture and when and if it gets a worn area, all you have to do is respray that area. Takes the noise right out.
