I just love your review and your candid and frank style of presentation. The comments on the belt chime so well with me as I have been having an awful time finding one that doesn't dig in to my hips and inner thighs. I had seen the spud inc pillow belt advertised, but not seen any review on it. I think your endorsement has sold it to me. Thanks and once again well done!!
Many of us have been super skinny all our lives. I weighed 99lbs upon HS graduation. Am 60 yo now and have been working out since elementary school. I’m still skinny @ 145 lbs. my legs and thighs refuse to bulk up. Any advice?
Great review and helpful! Funny, I currently squat twice a "week", one low bar day and one front squat day. I'm getting one of these for a 3rd squat day as well. I'm an older lifter (50yo) so I use a 9-10 day workout "week" instead of a 7 day micro cycle as I need more recovery between workouts (also allows me to go HAM on workouts which suites my personality better). I feel like adding this in will allow me to get more volume in without adding to weekly systemic fatigue I'm getting from low bar and deadlifts and will also allow me to continue training the squat when lower back issues flare up, which they do occasionally. -- Thanks for the review.
I recently picked up the Titan Squatmax MD. I was having the issue that you are describing with the loading pin sticking at the bottom of the squat and adding unnecessary friction when driving out of the hole. I wanted to try the PVC pipe trick of putting a 2ft long 1" PVC pipe over the guide pin, but the rubber sleeve on the guide pin was too wide in diameter at the bottom. Ended up cutting the rubber sleeve off the guide pin since it was being shaved and chipped away anyway. Added a section of PVC pipe over the guide pin and it is a whole new machine. Much more fluid through the whole movement like I'm used to on cable/pulley based belt squats. Still quiet with the PVC pipe too. Highly recommend modifying it in this way.
Great video. I like to barbell squat about 3-4 times a week but it is taxing on the body. I am training for powerlifting and I was looking at the Squat Max as many recommend this over the others that are out there. But my biggest concern is getting depth on my squats as I am short 5'4. May I ask your height? For me being 5'4 do you think I would be able to get the depth without building a similar platform like you have to increase the height? Please let me know. Thank you!
Hey! Great question - I forget if I said my height in the video but I’m 5 4 and my husband is 6ft. We both need the platform to hit depth. I would check squat max though. I want to say they may have a shorty center rod option now due to this complaint. Also if you’re using the standard platform without the narrow stance, you may be able to hit below parallel without an elevated platform.

This is so helpful! My gym has one of these, but I was too afraid to use it without a proper demonstration. Thanks for this!

It is my opinion that you’d be absolutely correct here 🤌🏼

Love this insight!! I hope it helps some other buyers! Thanks.
Get the transformer pin. It allows the belt to attach higher so you can achieve more depth.
That’s what I heard! Thanks!
Answered all my questions. Thanks.
Happy to hear that! It’s a great machine!

This is also called a Ukrainian deadlift or straddle lift. Glute experts like Bret Contreras recommend it a lot!
Never heard that before!
Is the platform homemade?
Yeah in the video I explain that! If you’re referring to the additional boards on top.
That was a perfect example of how not to bend your knees when lifting a 45 pound plate off the floor ha ha ha I was laughing
Thank you for feeding my algorithm. Many blessings.
