I remembered watching this a long time ago, and thought I needed this work around. But first I tried using the native CMS Video Link fields in a dynamic list and now it auto-embeds! It seems the issue has been resolved in Webflow.
Thanks Nelson. Big fan. Was just looking to solve this issue a week or so ago. Didn’t have a resolution until this visit. Right on time. Looking forward to all of your future videos!
Nelson, you rock! 🤩This is an awesome work around to a problem I was just talking about with others. Thank you for taking the time to run through this 🙏 One thing...you could make this all waaaaaay easier by saving the RUclips ID in your CMS instead of the full url. You could then forgot about adding any Javascript or Regex to parse it. Instead directly insert the ID into a hard coded RUclips link within your HTML Embed 🤓
true. :) but also, this could also be helpful when handing off this type of site to your client who forgets to only copy the ID rather than the whole URL.
the regular share links from RUclips do not include the important "/embed" before the video ID so it won't recognise that it is an embed and therefore not play
@@danwerner4987 I did a no code workaround. Seeing the vimeo video URLs are a lot neater, I ask users to only give the numbers of the unique video in the submit form. I took the standard vimeo embed code, throw that into a webflow embed and where the code reads player.vimeo.com/video/(id_numbers) -> change the id_numbers to your dynamic cms field that holds the video id

Yup. So glad they fixed this!

Where can I get this code?
Where I can find the code @pixelgeek
😎 Just ran into this issue a few weeks ago. Thanks for this, Nelson!!!

Hey @nocodequest8059, can you help me here please. What do you mean by that? Can you explain the step by step please?
I'm encountering this issue. Where I can find the script code? The first link on the description doesn't work. Thanks for your help!
You said in the video that you would put a link to the cloneable URL in the text above but it's not there. Please can we have it. Thank you.
Thank you for the tutorial, but without the custom code the tutorial is like.. not helping at all
Hey nelson, cheers for the vid. Can you post the script or link to the clonable project, please?
Super useful thanks :-)
You're welcome!
Great vid - Can we get the custom code for the REGEX? Can't replicate it
Bit confused here, cant you just add field in between the "" in the imbed or is this forcing something else?
Was wondering the same thing
the regular share links from RUclips do not include the important "/embed" before the video ID so it won't recognise that it is an embed and therefore not play
how to make this work with standard lightbox? I'm struggling to show videos from automatically populated collection in the lightbox
Hey bro! love the video. This is a noob question but how do you Autoplay and Loop Vimeo on scrolling on your Website? Would love your help !
Thanks but where is the cloneable project??
Very nice. Tho couldn't you do this without the script and just add the 'real video url' field right within the embed component?
The URL of an embedded youtube video is different than a regular RUclips link
I just tried the youtube video link in webflow cms is working perfectly fine with the video element on the page no need for this long drill.
How could you do this for vimeo links?
I would do the same thing, but find a script that pulled the vimeo ID from the URL and change the embed code to vimeo's code.
Did you end up finding the code that does this for vimeo?
