1984 was (and still is) my favorite year for music on the radio ever. Thanks for uploading some of the great music from the 80s decade.

A little music trivia: Eddy Grant was a member of the group the Equals, who had a hit in 1968 with "Baby Come Back".

There was a clip of him on RUclips having blonde hair in the band.

The Equals also recorded "Police on My Back", which was later recorded by The Clash.

The critically-acclaimed 1984 film made Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito household names...they all appeared in the sequel 'Jewel of the Nile' and 'The War of the Roses'!

I have this record and it's certainly a great lost '80's tune. Glad to see you back.

The Portrait Records label was distributed by CBS Records. Other acts on the label included Cyndi Lauper and Sade. Portrait was retired in 1988 and absorbed into the Epic label.

Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito starred in this popular 1984 film...the following year, they appeared in the sequel 'Jewel of the Nile' with the hit Billy Ocean song "When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Goin'"! The three cast members later appeared in 'The War of the Roses'! I have all three on DVD!

I think this was his only American hit as Americans were slow to catch on to reggae music.

Electric Avenue was a really big hit, I'd say it's his biggest without checking

That is a late 45. I don't think they were around by the late 1980s.

efrem1 There were still a few 45s around by the end of the '80s. They didn't disappear from stores until the start of the 1990s. After that, 45s were replaced by cassette singles. Can you believe that cassettes have vanished as well?! And LP's gave way to compact discs, though they're making a comeback. Now it's iTunes, and, of course, RUclips from which we're getting our music! Ah, progress.
