Beautiful looking guitar. Thinking of getting one. I played many Gibson that are made today. I feel they are over priced. If I was going to pay from $1500.00 to $5000.00 for a Gibson, I would want perfect guitar, without any set up, it should be perfect. But I feel they are not, in today's world. Allot of the Gibson I have played today, feel like a $500 guitar, but I could be totally wrong. I bought a LTD ESP les Paul, a couple of years ago. That was made in Indonesia. I am very surprised, in how this guitar plays and sounds. And it looks beautiful. I still play it today. I cannot believe it was made in Indonesia. Super guitar. I have done nothing to the guitar, but just play it. Everything is original, from the factory. LTD 100 QM. Great video, good job mate. 👍🎸

i like the wood grain of the back, nice grain and slightly flame ,not a photo flame ,even no close shot, but still can see the flame shift and move little bit on different angle .
I ordered, and paid for, an ebony fret board, and what arrived was a fret board which had been stained black..... Speaks volumes does that.. As with anything else, if you are happy with the body, the neck and the finish you can't go far wrong with a Chinese Gibson copy... How far you want to go with them is entirely up to the individual... They will all require re-stringing, frets probably could be looked at, intonation and string height will probably be all over the place.. After sorting that out you should have a nice looking, playable piece of kit... If you choose to go down the replacing of machine heads, pickups, and most of the wiring route you could end up with a very decent guitar... Let's face it, most guitars, even the decent ones, are made in the Far East these day, the factories are set up to knock these out all day long and are probably making your brand name model side by side... They just use cheaper component's and cut the odd corner here and there

After watching your video i have ordered a custom guitar from the seller you mentioned. What i have got has a completely different experience : 1. Unsetted frets in the middle and in the higher portion of fretboard - this meaning the slots for the frets were cut shallowly. This means once frets will be leveled more material will be removed from the fret. 2. The fretboard inlays are crooked- not aligned straight with the frets. Also the inlay on the headstock is crooked. A simle use of a ruler could have prevented it - a real shame 3. Glue and epoxy on the frets board really nasty looking. 4. Hardware gold painted poorly with noticeable drops. The only thing good about this guitar is the maple top which looks great. In the same price you can get an harley benton which will play better and with better build quality. Maybe i got a lemon but I wouldn’t take the risk next time Anyway - thanks for the video I’m happy you got a good experience

I've worked on many of these budget knock offs. The majority of them originate out of the same factory in Weifang China a provence of Shandong. They all require fret filing, nut and bridge replacement.you'll probably have to replace the pods as well. Just so you are informed these factories will place any name on the head stock including your own name. The exact same guitar has several brand names. Also the knock off grover tuners are not good. For the price point you're better of with an Epiphone. Another Chinese made guitar but, they still have American quality control in their factory. Hope this helps.

Hello Captain, just received my second Chibson. A beautiful cherry burst that needed nothing other than some minor tweaks, the finish and fretwork was perfect. So much bang for the buck! I now have two of these beauties for less than the cost of a new Epiphone Standard.

@@killainmaccallan4700 Hello, I don't have a specific vendor to recommend but here's a quick tip. Look for the ones with the red graphic on the scratch plate. In my experience these have a relatively high build quality and the level of workmanship is pretty standard between them. I have two with the red logo's. Other than some fret work on one, I'm quite pleased with both of them. Hope this helps. Cheers

I just received the Epiphone 1959 Standard with the $500 Gibson pickups and the Gibson headstock and these pickups are extremely microphonic the volume pot is screwed and it just doesn’t feel like a $1,299 guitar 🫤 but my Chibson is worth every penny 😎

Always play a guitar before you buy it. At this price point you could buy an Epiphone Les Paul Studio LT. At least you would get American quality control from a Chinese factory.

Nice looking guitar. I just picked up a 59 sunburst Les Paul copy at a thrift store for $40 (It had a lower neck crack from shipping but I glued it back and it's fine). I'm impressed with the quality of the finish, binding, potted pickups, straight neck and jumbo frets. The tuners and bridge are probably going to be changed but that's about it. I leveled and dressed the frets myself and it plays great. I only play though my Helix, but it sounds good to my ears😝.
Thanks for sharing. Seems the quality of chibson's are increasing. I would've loved to have a closer look at the bridge (flat head screws or posts) and the binding near the nut.
I want a Chibson...after researching them for a few years, I'm ready to get one and replace anything with Gibson parts, like the wiring and toggle and pups, if necessary. Tuners, too. Gibson charging 6 to 9K for an R9, R8, or R0 is insane. It's not even the same old-growth mahogany at that price! Fuck Gibson!!!

@@TreCapitan the seller I've talked to says if it gets stopped I can get money back bit I think I'll pay via credit card so it's protected. ( As the advertised guitar doesn't say anything about Gibson or Les Paul) so fingers crossed. Hom much duty did you pay to DHL? If you don't mind me asking?
Gobson finally started making the epiphones better, of course they also increased the prices quite a bit. I doubt the epiphone or gibson quality is much better than the copies now. So much for fighting the chibsons.

How long did it take them to MAKE yours? The store I ordered from has a 97% rating and over 1200 followers. I ordered the guitar on the 5th and they're still 'making' it. I talked to them a few days ago and they asked me to extend the processing time for 10 days. Am I getting taken for a ride? After the 10 day period is up, I'll probably pursue a refund through PayPal. I'll talk to them just beforehand, though and see why there's been this huge delay in shipping what I ordered.
My advise would be...don’t panic, from my experience chibson manufacturers are a) not the best with communication b) pretty slow (although if you’re getting a guitar made to order, it’s worth the wait right?). I waited and waited and got mine eventually! I’m sure yours will come, but keep in contact with the seller!

I just got my chibson slash and for £220 I got one peice body and kneck with fret nibs, I own 2 legit gibsons and you couldn't tell them apart (apart from electrics) Did you have any extra charges with customs with yours?
Hey yeah had to pay £30 customs fee and yeah I’m not a fan of the fret nibs on my real Gibsons so request my chibsons without.. great guitars though huh 🤙

The message I had off Kevin Shi was advising me to get it sent to another country and then get it forwarded to the UK. He also said I could take a chance but if it got seized I would lose my money. I wish I could like Chibsons but the fact that I know it's a fake just kills the inspiration for me. Playing a real Gibson makes me feel proud that I own a high quality American made valuable guitar and I get excited to play it and just looking at it makes me feel inspired. That's just how it is for me though and I don't frown upon anyone that loves Chibson guitars. I wish I could too because I would save a ton of money lol.

Any problems with customs ? I've spoke with Kevin and he's reluctant to send any chibsons to the UK. He says our customs are strict and will destroy the guitars .. :/

To be honest I’ve had my fair share of Gibsons they’re ok but you genuinely have more fun with a Chibson and aren’t as scared of playing and messing with it
Oops I didn't mean to hit thumbs down..I wanted to send a message. Hey I own real Gibson's and I have no problem with Chinese guitars. Some are pretty good and plus it is forcing the bigger companies to step up.
It took me a bit to figure out what was wrong with the headstock - the tuner on the A string is in the wrong spot (moved about a half centimetre inward) to compensate for the diamond headstock inlay being off centre.
That thing is nice! I don’t mean to sound like in talking shit, but... haha.. why didn’t you opt to have the Gibson name removed or have it changed? If you say that having a Gibson is not much better and you’re just buying the name.. and people use the name to flex.. then why buy into the name? I hope that makes sense. I can understand though, the name is part of the whole look. Still, I would have just removed the Gibson logo.

Trolls notwithstanding...It appears the general consensus "everywhere" is to replace the electronics (PUPs, jacks, switches, pots, wiring, etc. & some hardware items if desired) for "most" guitars from China and save thousands of dollars if you just desire additional crayons in your production box that matches the feel/tonal characteristics of iconic off-the-shelf US manufactured instruments. However, if you desire something truly special, it's NOT rocket science, just a guitar any human with the implied skill level/equipment can produce when detailed specs are provided and confirmed via pics (i.e. Back: 1-Piece Mahogany w/12-hole weight relief, Top: 1-Piece 3/4" Plain Maple, Joint: Long Tenon (Ultra Modern Contoured heel) 1-piece Solid Mahogany custom elliptical/modern "flat oval" profile neck, custom paint job: Neck Binding: Electric Violet Single-ply & Body Binding: Dark Turquoise Multi-ply, Fingerboard Material: Solid Ebony, Number Of Frets: 24, 3 Humbuckers, etc.), one can theoretically own the quality of those ranging $5k-$10k+ for far less than $2k with all the push/push/pull pot wiring one can dream up (i.e. "Gibson LP Custom Shop Original" 1-off w/case). Has it stood the test of time over the last 8 months since you bought it? And did you replace the wiring harness as well as the pickups

Yeah I agree man, I’ve done a lot of work on mine but it’s better than any epiphone.. but by the time you’ve done it all you could buy a cheap gibson

You can request Gibson style bridge with posts which I did , they still can be hit or miss though quality wise I’ve had some right turkeys

@@TreCapitan the seller I've talked to says if it gets stopped I can get money back bit I think I'll pay via credit card so it's protected. ( As the advertised guitar doesn't say anything about Gibson or Les Paul) so fingers crossed. Hom much duty did you pay to DHL? If you don't mind me asking?

Gobson finally started making the epiphones better, of course they also increased the prices quite a bit. I doubt the epiphone or gibson quality is much better than the copies now. So much for fighting the chibsons.

Hey man really dig your Channel! Got a question for you. When you change out the pickups in your chibson guitars do you also put CTS pots in them or do you just leave the pots in them that came in originally.?

Well no disrespect to your review you got some beautiful amps in the backdrop and I'm wondering if that has anything to contribute to the sounds of those knock-offs. Also you play sick as f*** dude keep rocking my brother! 💯🥇
How long did it take them to MAKE yours? The store I ordered from has a 97% rating and over 1200 followers. I ordered the guitar on the 5th and they're still 'making' it. I talked to them a few days ago and they asked me to extend the processing time for 10 days. Am I getting taken for a ride? After the 10 day period is up, I'll probably pursue a refund through PayPal. I'll talk to them just beforehand, though and see why there's been this huge delay in shipping what I ordered.
My advise would be...don’t panic, from my experience chibson manufacturers are a) not the best with communication b) pretty slow (although if you’re getting a guitar made to order, it’s worth the wait right?). I waited and waited and got mine eventually! I’m sure yours will come, but keep in contact with the seller!

They make all their guitars after they get ordered. Hopefully, I don't have to extend it again. I think I'll do it ONE more time for them if they ask. Then, it will be into the 30 days mark and I'll have to get my money back through PayPal. I hope it doesn't come to that. I really want the guitar!

I just got my chibson slash and for £220 I got one peice body and kneck with fret nibs, I own 2 legit gibsons and you couldn't tell them apart (apart from electrics)

Hey yeah had to pay £30 customs fee and yeah I’m not a fan of the fret nibs on my real Gibsons so request my chibsons without.. great guitars though huh 🤙
Looks good, but one thing they always get wrong are the pickup ring screws. They should be black.

The message I had off Kevin Shi was advising me to get it sent to another country and then get it forwarded to the UK. He also said I could take a chance but if it got seized I would lose my money. I wish I could like Chibsons but the fact that I know it's a fake just kills the inspiration for me. Playing a real Gibson makes me feel proud that I own a high quality American made valuable guitar and I get excited to play it and just looking at it makes me feel inspired. That's just how it is for me though and I don't frown upon anyone that loves Chibson guitars. I wish I could too because I would save a ton of money lol.

I ordered one and was told that because customs was seizing guitars this year, they would have to send one without the logo.
Was just a kind of rubber paint.. always ask them to cover logos 👍

To be honest I’ve had my fair share of Gibsons they’re ok but you genuinely have more fun with a Chibson and aren’t as scared of playing and messing with it

Oops I didn't mean to hit thumbs down..I wanted to send a message. Hey I own real Gibson's and I have no problem with Chinese guitars. Some are pretty good and plus it is forcing the bigger companies to step up.

It took me a bit to figure out what was wrong with the headstock - the tuner on the A string is in the wrong spot (moved about a half centimetre inward) to compensate for the diamond headstock inlay being off centre.
I see this on real Les Paul customs all the time so not too bad haha.. google Les Paul custom headstock and you’ll see
That thing is nice! I don’t mean to sound like in talking shit, but... haha.. why didn’t you opt to have the Gibson name removed or have it changed? If you say that having a Gibson is not much better and you’re just buying the name.. and people use the name to flex.. then why buy into the name? I hope that makes sense. I can understand though, the name is part of the whole look. Still, I would have just removed the Gibson logo.

Trolls notwithstanding...It appears the general consensus "everywhere" is to replace the electronics (PUPs, jacks, switches, pots, wiring, etc. & some hardware items if desired) for "most" guitars from China and save thousands of dollars if you just desire additional crayons in your production box that matches the feel/tonal characteristics of iconic off-the-shelf US manufactured instruments. However, if you desire something truly special, it's NOT rocket science, just a guitar any human with the implied skill level/equipment can produce when detailed specs are provided and confirmed via pics (i.e. Back: 1-Piece Mahogany w/12-hole weight relief, Top: 1-Piece 3/4" Plain Maple, Joint: Long Tenon (Ultra Modern Contoured heel) 1-piece Solid Mahogany custom elliptical/modern "flat oval" profile neck, custom paint job: Neck Binding: Electric Violet Single-ply & Body Binding: Dark Turquoise Multi-ply, Fingerboard Material: Solid Ebony, Number Of Frets: 24, 3 Humbuckers, etc.), one can theoretically own the quality of those ranging $5k-$10k+ for far less than $2k with all the push/push/pull pot wiring one can dream up (i.e. "Gibson LP Custom Shop Original" 1-off w/case).
