For anyone watching this video, please note the following: First tests were done using about 2700W and got 2.7kg Thrust /// Second tests were using about 3800W and got 3.8kg Thrust ****Then siang076 decided that the other fan is better because it is producing more thrust. THIS IS NOT AN ACCURATE COMPARISON. The g/W (grams thrust per watt) is nearly identical. Each produces 1 gram of thrust per watt input. The same test needs to be done using motors with equal power consumption. To uploader: don't draw conclusions based off poor comparisons or experiments.
is there a wall in front of the edf? i think the edf stands too close to the wall to get enough airflow. the second edf is shorter and the distance to the wall is bigger. i think thats the reason the performance of the mercury edf is so poor. i have an 74mm mercury and im not disappointed of the performance
amps and volts to low you should have tried it on 9s make sure you stay below the max 95 amps and 2736 watts ,i have the mercury 74 6s it it was low on power, on 7s it makes the spec and stays just below the max amps and watts on a fresh battery and motor is cool to the touch.they seem to be to conservative on windings, the second run was better as the batteries showed 1 volt higher, your other edf is pulling 130 amps compared to 80 amps of the mercury, how are your batteries lasting ? more efficient with higher volts lower amps
hey bro . sg guy here. i got 2.8kg on 6S, abt 100A. not too sure abt this hobbyking test stand accuracy. my super disappointment was freewing 90mm edf on rc-castle website..says up to 3.9kg on 6S! i wonder if its a typo...i only got 2.8kg!
the comparison with the JTM fan is unfair, that one runs on a TPPower 1800Kv motor, no comparison to the appollo with a 1600 unkown brand motor, put the Tppower motor in the apollo and measure again..

reedy93 This unit is rated for 8S and you may risk damaging it by doing 9S. Anyway I had sold it and moved on...
With the fms 1500kv you get 5kg on the same setup.
where do you get that test stand?

oops. sorry... i meant i got 3.1kg on 6S, 100A on the mercury
i also have the freewing fan. never test it but probably it will give around 3kg. maybe you try using better batts.
yea.. i tried with thunder power 70C 5000mahs.. let me know when u have tried the freewing fan
did u manage to get more thrust ? hk say should give 3.6kg thrust on 8s
no. have since sold it
Strike that I see there 5000. Very strange I get 3.8. On 8s. With mine
You were pushing over 130amps with the last edf, though!!! 1:23

You are using a tiny Battery in series with the big one WTF
the tiny lipo you mean is just for powering up the receiver only
It looked like it was on series
it was.
Yes it was, the Black one at the side of the turnigy, not the nanotech on the bottom.
You don't have enough mah. To get full performance 4000 minimum
Yeah Mercury Alloy EDFs were always SORELY overrated... Weak performance IME.
