Green is a woman who embraces nature and spends all of her time in imaginary worlds she has created for herself. Unfortunately, her life was cut short when she died giving birth to her daughter, pictured in yellow, who was told of her mother's love for nature and embraced it herself. The daughter grew up among trees where she knew her mother loved to be and one day she met a young man with whom she fell deeply in love. They shared a love for nature and spent every moment outside until an accident took the man away from her... and that brings us today. The young woman who feels she has had everything taken from her sits under the same tree her mother did 25 years earlier. She is sobbing and looking for a reason to keep going, a reason to not give up on life and she looks out towards the water and spots two ducks swimming towards her. This is when she knows. This is when she knows that she isn't alone in the world for she may have lost those she loved most, but she knew deep down that they were still there. They were still in her mind and in her heart and it was the stories, the memories, the love that gave her the motivation she needed to keep going and to fight another day. So she picked up a book. One that had been passed down from her mother and she sat under the tree in a full state of serenity while she read out loud in remembrance.

These are pretty cool! If you search for them online, you might find them under the term leporello. These are very easy to make yourself, basically, you just cut out one rectangle and fold it in half. And then you do that with 20 other rectangles and glue them together on one side (always turning a new rectangle)so that you can unfold it like an accordion.
Also they make really cool book and illustration projects (try a city scape or a real story for example!) and are therefore always appreciated in art school portfolios and applications :)
is there a way to do it without glue? that can affect the paper sometimes and make it all wobbly. but I love the idea of making them yourself!
You could cut a giant rectangle and keep folding it like an accordion, but that would be harder to do with thicc paper lol
@@drawingwiffwaffles You could potentially stitch them together or get a large piece of paper that you could cut into a long strip and fold like an accordion. If you do use glue and want to avoid warping, you could place the book under some heavy books while drying and place wax paper between each page to prevent the moisture from warping the other pages.
@@drawingwiffwaffles glue is the best way for this style of book. Be sure if you do make one to use acid free PVA, and a little goes a long way. Press your pages for a day before using. It should be fine for most media types, we did these all the time at my college (book arts major).
I can only repeat what Elena Fowler said! A good glue (we used one for bookbinding, it's only like, 5$) it should be fine. We learned this from someone who learned it at the HGB (big traditional art school in Germany, the B is for bookarts) so I guess glueing really is the best way to go! Though with your style some experimenting beforehand could be useful, like how does it react with markers etc. Also glad you like the idea!

Leah Savarese no you make sense it’s like spring people start to get out more into nature and summer the suns out and hot and everything then fall which for me is more of a lovey doves season with the beautiful trees, and then winter which most people get sad through because there is a thing called seasonal depression. The more I look at the are the more I realize how much it’s underrated it is so beautiful story wise and the art and it’s interesting as I read through these comments I see the difference in peoples perspectives

It starts off with a woman in the park, searching for inspiration for a story she's making. She starts of with simple doodles; a little bird in a tree, but it soon turns into something bigger.
The bird is seen through out a girls life, they seem to go through everything together. In her moments of happiness as a young innocent child. When she matures and find love. And when she experiences heart break and sadness. The bird was always there.

(3:45) You could scrape off the pastel crayon with a knife and put the pastel powder on a palette.
Then you can dissolve the powder with water on the palette, and use the colours without getting the texture of the pastel crayon on your paper.
Neocolor II are wax crayons. You get shavings not powder. And they dissolve much better than they seem to in the video.

I love this 😍😍😍 oh, and you could have just picked up the color right off of the pastel stick with the waterbrush. That way no streaks. I do it like this whenever there's something in form of a stick/block..or even right off the lead of watercolor pencils. I hate a streaky look as well..so maybe that's a helpful tip for you 😊 then it's going to be more like using regular watercolor though...but anyway, you're my all time favorite box opener here on RUclips, so fun to watch your loading inspiration 😅 well done 😊

I think the accordion sketchbook could be cool to incorporate an aspect of time into a drawing. Like with the seasons, or for example the aging of a particular character, or even actual time to maybe the same drawing but over time as a way to see development all on one timeline.

I’ve been doing rainbow color studies and I super love this. It’s good that it’s open in the yellow part and so happy there. It’s a story board. The sketchbook would make a great gift for a budding cartoonist.

@@serrosii I read once that more creative (artistic) people are left handed. I'm an artist and I'm also left handed but I'm also ambidextrous so I can draw right handed as well.
Hand dominance is a fascinating subject especially considering how not too far back it was considered unholy to be left handed in some places and even as recent as the 60s they were still forcefully pushing naturally left dominant people to be right dominant. When my mom was a kid she would get in trouble if she used her left hand in class. Her teacher actually took the pencil out of her hand, put it in the right hand, gripped her hand together and forced her to write. Wild stuff!
