Being from Maryland, landlocked for 35 years in Colorado. I’ve travel Severn River, many times. Glad you guys had good weather to pull this off .growing up there was a lot of Bandon boats over that way especially off the southern river.get that catamaran done let’s get it on the water you don’t need any more projects stay safe.
Yes, no more big projects for us!! We're really looking forward to the day we splash, but also the next projects which will come after fairing and painting. If we have to devote energy to a boat project, it is definitely going to be the catamaran. 😉
Must say I think keeping efforts on the catamaran would be what I would do too. You aren’t that far away from being able to start bringing some of your stuff over to the new boat, that will at least give you more space.
We're hoping that by this December we can move ourselves aboard. She still won't be ready to splash until next summer, but if we can finish off the guest hull enough to live it...it would give us A LOT more space!!
Never mind, the tender didn’t look bad though. Sad to see the keel being removed at the end. But it’ll keep you building the Cat and not out sailing. Nice video as usual guy’s, take care see you on the next one.
Yeah, if it was something that would only take a week or two to fix up to a nice livable space, we probably would have considered it. But since it needed much more, we'd rather put that effort towards the catamaran. 😃
May not have been a boat to move aboard. But what a score? The dink was more than worth the trip. A good size lead keel, will pay for the dumpster cost for the hull. Bacon's is a good place to sell the rest. Just keep up with them, they won't notify you of a sale. You have to ask every 90 days.
Yes, the tender and outboard were definitely worth making the trip out. It's too bad we couldn't have held a sale for the boat, it sounds like a number of people would have been interested in it.
Please ignore the haters. People who think you are solely a boat build channel may not know that you are also a travel/lifestyle programme, and one that we continue to enjoy in all of its incarnations.
Yes it is sad that that little sailboat will be cut up into pieces. It doesn't look like it's in a horrible shape at all. And heck yeah there's lots of good stuff that can be recycled off of that vessel! Oh my the very last part of the video where the travel lift is separating the keel from the hull to me is my sad moment.
One of the reason the guys at Kentmorr agreed to get the boat and bring it back to demo is because they could take off all the parts. So now Tucker has some great new Lithium batteries!
Nice distraction for the day and an outing with a fun group of people. Nice! Never know when you'll find a hidden jewel. But not today, it seems. Thanks for the day trip.
Our first cruising boat (Sabre 34 Targa) was kept in a heated storage unit during winter, back in Michigan. Even though it was 28 years old when we purchased it, she was still in immaculate condition.
Saw an Ericson 32 sloop on Bostons craigslist for $4900, it got me wondering if that would fit your needs for a temp boat. If so one or more of your followers might be willing to purchase it for you to live aboard and use for a year. At which point you could either give it to the person(s) who purchased it, sell it, or if those who buy it don't mind, raffle/prize it off to one of the followers in a contest...
To be honest, we're probably better off in the Pacemaker we have. As we're learning on the Viking (only on it for a few more weeks) when a living space gets too comfortable, it makes it harder to go in the tent to work. I think we might need the push of a small uncomfortable living space to keep us motivated for the build, haha.
@@MJSailing Was also thinking the purchasing/pickup/sailing/fixup/reselling boat activity would make for some interesting vlogs. Perhaps Tucker and crew would be interested in a "boat flipper" channel ;-) Someone should shoot me before I start mouthing off about the "Four Elements of Chocolate" box merch idea! BTW - really enjoyed this episode! 🙂
hi: interesting this demo boat has Reflective insulation which should be Installed on any World travveling boat [?] so as to keep radiant heat loads off the AC ( also quills noise ) ....food for thought......ps same type that was offered free for your work tent ...back when.
If it was more move in ready, we would have jumped on it. But we can't ration taking that much time away from the catamaran build right now to fix up a space just for eating and sleeping. 😔

I remember the 'Boat Graveyard' we did our last build in, in Indiantown Florida. There ended up being so many abandoned boats there, the owner began selling them for $1, just to get people to remove them from the property.

I love the thumbnail.
I never thought how clean your videos are. Thanks.
That hurt my heart! I would have loved to have that boat! It was bigger and nicer than mine! And I had everything from my boat it needed!!!!
Always good for a look. Cheers.

If nothing else, that was a nice quick break from boat building 👍
Always fun to break up the monotony of sanding and spend a little time on the water. 😊
Sure wish I was closer to you I would definitely be interested
I don’t know who they think they are, smashing a perfectly good guitar.
We agree you made a good decision! 😊
Hahaha, exactly! No need to take on another full time project right now.
Great Job!!! Thank You….
Haters hate that is what they do be yourselves and we will all see who you are
Love those big properties! Maybe next year
Wow, that ending! That's one way to remove a keel
It is always fun getting to see these large properties from the water, since their views are usually blocked from the road.
Ooop I saw that mid hull strap crunch.😢 Maybe next time
Stay safe and we'll see you next week.
Thanks! More fun projects coming up on the catamaran. 😃

Yes, we are very interested to get that boat on the water as well. 7 days a week in the tent should have us splashing next summer!

Bacons has declined a lot. I stay out of that place.
The hunter looks like it's in a whole lot better shape than my last sailboat. It was a Columbia 22.
It does look like it could have cleaned up well. Unfortunately, it just needed more attention than we can give at the moment.
Looks like the hard road to me but congrats to you for doing what you are doing.
Thank you so much for the kind words!! It's been a tough job, but very rewarding. I think we're really going to love what we end up with.

Yikes, the oil slick coming from Tucker’s boat
question... since the boat is being demoed, What chandlery do the bits end up at? Looked like the hunter had some nice lines...
Awww - that last scene was hard to watch! I don't think I'll un-hear that sound…
I know it was the first time I've heard a keel getting broken off a boat. 😬
I wish I could get a boat like that to fix up and live in that would be great especially if it was free.
We'll keep an eye out for any future boats which are scheduled for demo but could potentially be remodeled. 😉

@@MJSailing that she is
What a shame. That is a project j definitely would have take on if it was here on the west coast.

Very true - it was a nice break from boat work for a few hours, and always fun to get on the water with our friends. 😍
I wonder if more boats could be kept going if they were stored properly on a boatyard each winter. I keep mine in a shed, no worries or decay.

It took Georgie a long time as well to get used to the sound of the engine, but now it's just background noise to her.

How does one go about legally acquiring abandoned boats?
The owner signed over the title to the marina.
@@MJSailing I’m in need of marina friends.
bit sad wreaking a fairly good boat. In New Zealand, this would be snapped up for good money.
when will the pacemaker be avail?
Maybe next spring?
Who ended up getting the Honda outboard and dinghy?
Hasn't been decided yet. For the moment, they're just property of the marina.
Wow. How do high dollar property items like that get abandoned to be demo’ed in the first place?
We heard it was due to water intrusion, but don't have all the details.
When are you taking delivery of your max cruise marine in VN?
We not having ours built in Vietnam, we're building it ourselves in Maryland.
@@MJSailing oh wow, so did you buy the blueprint from them for that model?

Hull osmosis on the demo boat ?????????
You could always just take it out for day sails and never go below deck.
The good thing is, being in Annapolis, we still have a number of friends with sailboats who are always trying to get us on the water for an afternoon.
Why do I feel like someone is going to come back to their project boat and wonder where it went...
😂
Did he buy that boat?
Was that boat abandoned? Why demolished?
We don't know the full details, just that the owner wanted it demolished due to water intrusion. Probably figured they wouldn't be able to sell it.
@MJ Sailing wow.. & left a 1991 Honda outboard & inflatable behind.. thats feeling very defeated..
Oh well…
Too bad this boat couldn't be offered to others here. I'm in the market for a decent boat that could use some work. 🤷♂

Thank you for the offer, but we decided we'll be best staying on the Pacemaker. It will give us extra motivation to finish the 'good' boat. 😉
What wrong with that boat . Keel falling off?
We were told it's because of water intrusion. We're guessing the owner thought they wouldn't be able to get anything if they tried to sell
I think y’all are addicted to project boats.
Keel came off pretty easily......
Actually, it took cutting all around and then bashing in on the ground with the travel lift. It was amazing how well it hung on
@@MJSailing That makes a pretty good advertisement for a Hunter. You should see what Kristen and Mathew on Sailing GBU did with theirs.
Yep those old American made boats are worthless, time to face reality. Someone forward this to Pop Yachts.

A lot of people say Matt's voice reminds them of Carl Sagan, and that he should do a podcast.
Why ruin a good boat sad!!!
Well that was a waste of time, let everyone know when you're back to your project that we're here to watch .
