I used to take lessons in a building he lived in nyc. He’d come down and hang a little. The guy was forever young hearted, jovial and kind. No wonder his sound and tunes were so beautiful!
With Benny gone now Sonny is the last one remaining with us from the Great Day in Harlem photo. I've always treasured Benny's sound on the tenor since it has such a pure quality to it.
Been to a concert of him 2019 at Bimhuis Amsterdam I was sitting alone on a table with my eyes closed and the music was great, thank you MR Golson for the music
A true staple and such an underrated genius. We were so blessed to have him with us to share his great talent. He will live in the hearts of Jazz heads forever. Rest in the arms of the Creator Benny 🙏🏾🎷❤
There have been a lot of sax players over the years that have played terrific solos. The thing that sets Benny Golson apart are all of the compositions he left us. His tunes have been covered and recorded hundreds of times by others and that will continue on forever. Thank you, we’ll always love you!
I was lucky enough to hear Benny playing twice. The first time was in Belfast when he was with Art Farmer, it was a great night. The second time was at the Brecon Jazz festival. I got to meet him, and found him very easy to speak to. A wonderful player, composer and human being. RIP Benny.
he was also in the movie The Terminal as himself with the "A Great Day in Harlem" Jazz picture. Tom Hanks character goes around collecting signatures if everyone in the picture, and Benny was the last one. Benny plays with his band at the end of the movie. great movie for jazz buffs, even if it's fictional story. my small group last year played "Something in B Flat" from that same album
I had the great privilege of hearing Mr. Golson play back in 2018 in Jackson, MS. Seeing him perform live was a truly magical experience!! It was an experience akin to the wonder of a child seeing Santa Claus face-to-face! With all due respect to all the amazing modern jazz artists, there’s something about those great Titans of Jazz that simply cannot be emulated-and now a little more magic has gone from the world now that he’s gone to rest. RIP, Mr. Golson!! Thank you for blessing the world with your incredible music!
Folks; we can't be too sad about Benny's passing. In his time, millions have passed away....Benny played right to the end and who can say he has not lived life to the full?

Truly one of the most underrated saxophonist of all time. He’s the main reason I play the saxophone and jazz 🕊️

Love Killer Joe first heard of Benny from watching the movie, The Terminal.

He made a great contribution to the art form ...jazz!
RIP Master
Great tribute Jay!
So many wonderful melodies ❤
A beautiful guy. Great legacy.
Benny Golsons cameo in the jazz club in The Terminal is class!
He is actually a key plot point in the Spielberg/Tom Hanks film.
Good night Benny and thank you for all. 😢
Good night, Bennie. ❤ And thank you. Not just a wonderful musician and composer, but a classy gentleman. Glad you had such a long life.
Nice touch jay,,another great has left us sadly...
Thank you. Very moving especially the last video.
A legend. He will be greatly missed. Thank you Jay.
Confirmated, the jazzman can live 100 years. All your videos have to begin with that music videos. Is the essence.
🙏🏾
Yeah Jay!
I’ll be playing “Whisper Not” with a slightly different feel for the foreseeable. The Big Band in the sky will be welcoming Benny with open arms 🤗🎼🎷🎶🎵
I’m so sad About Benny’s Death
格好いいなぁ。
R.I.P 😢
I Remember clifford is his best composition in my opinion. Lee Morgan knocks it out of the park.
And also Roy Hargrove 😎👌🏾✨️
Hi Thomas, We've just uploaded a Benny Golson Tribute show. Please pass by and have a listen. Lndn Jazz Hour

My personal jazz collection would certainly be even less complete without the contributions from Benny and his presence within it ..😉👨🏻
He was the guy that i came to know through lee Morgan. He played Stella by starlight the best of all in my opinion. May he rest in peace
😢
🙏🏽🕊️
I think he never sounded better than on the recording of his "sock cha cha"
R.I.P 🎷 🎵
0:40 what’s the name of this tune?
🕊️
Good aftefnoon. Curtis Ousley known as King Curtis is an obvious oversight. He did enough on soprano to be on this list.
Κρίμα.
Be nice to know which was which. Red shirt for me was slightly darker/rounder but not too much between them.
He lived a full and productive life! I will remember Benny Godson. 🥲✨️🎶🎼🎷
