He didn't brush he teeth while he was on drugs. There is a video of him answering fan questions and he tells the fans that it's important to brush your teeth...GOSH I love him!
Whenever I would watch John when I was younger, I always just thought his brain was a little messed up from drugs. Now that I actually pay attention to what he is meaning, not just what he is saying, you can see the brilliance of his thoughts. He may not communicate his thoughts very easily, but like he said, when the ideas are being transfered, not just the words or language, it is really beautiful.
Without a doubt i think he's the most beautiful person. His inside really reflects his outside, there are very few people like him that can really do a thing like that, the world probably would be more at peace if there actually were more people like him. I thank him with all my heart and i wish him the best of worlds, 'cause he deserves it.
When John's not playing guitar he at least needs some vivid gesturing :D I am so grateful for this interview outtakes0. *I just have to keep changing … to keep myself interested* (JF). So true.
Haha :D I have an Italian family member, and he seems to be sleeping or rather dreaming all the time ,,,, but his sons both are extremely pumped. Love them all, the new colors they contributed.
I thought that about words and music all my life. some of my favorite songs I don't know the words to because its the transference of feelings. Words arent as important as the energy behind the music
I love listening to John talk. He is so right about what people think about his simpler albums like californiacation. Everyone (not actually everyone but u know what i mean) thought that he was a not so good guitarist. But I fell in LOVE with guitar and the red-hot chili peppers and especially John when I learnt californiacation on guitar. It was my hook on guitar. I love u JFru!
"i think usually even when we think we know what things mean, i dont really think we do. words in peoples' heads, even if it's the same word, they mean one thing to one person and they mean another thing to the other person... they're not very precise, so if you get a feeling from something, to me that's the important thing."
Man from watching interviews of him back in 1994, he could barely talk, murmuring and stuttering, barely making any sentences, like drugs destroyed him. But look at him now, as positive as ever, making sense of life, making sense of what he see's, changing lives. He is a god amongst men, i would like to see anyone, do anything as brave as Frusciante. I hope he lives well past 100
perfectly said, though words give meaning to songs sometimes music transcends words. there are songs in foreign languages that can take you places by feeling alone
One of the reasons John is one of my favorite guitarists is because he took guitar playing in that subtle angle that most presumed was just because he lacked he shredding chops that grab your attention. He served the songs and complimented the rest of the band rather than stood forward most of the time. I love his work later when he decided to be flashier of course but his simple style was what made him special to me at least. I dig what he's doing now too. I really can't knock what he puts out, I'm a stan for this dude lol.
Damn when you look at him here and in 94 it's like a different man, different eyes, different voice, different face, different talking, differen character... He's a completely enw man now and I'm damn happy about it. I like new John.
i just finished watching the vpro videos from 94 when he looked like a skeleton and was saying things that would make him cry if he heard them today. i'm so glad he came back and improved himself and his attitude so much.
How could anyone hate a guy so wonderful like him? Funnily enough, there are people that really hate him, those jerks need to open their ears and hearts.
He is so very serene and beautiful, i can watch this interview over and over again and still be amazed by his uniqueness. He makes so much sense to me.
He is so incredibly insightful...hes a genius... everything he plays and everything says...is from an obscure perspective that most people never would think of... and he's sober now unreal
He was always really on a another level. If you watch some of the early interviews you can tell he had another way of thinking... I'm glad he cut drugs...watching some of the VPRO stuff from 94' really made me wanna cry.
Hahahaha this is such an amazing interview!! You can totally see him trying to be himself, but when you know about his history and you look at the video realy closely, you can tell that he actually IS this person that he's trying to present to the media, because he's always been that way, even during BSSM when he was still kinda new to the band, and was perceived by everyone as that one to take over a really important member's place, even back then he was already like this, so this is real good.
wonderful interview. evolving is a good thing.. and now that he's into solos, he gets abit more attentoins.. and we get introspective interviews. plus kickass licks. i like this guy, as a guitarist and as an artist. very cool that he knows who he is. i wish we all did.
***** I think I know what you mean. I know that he isn't chasing fame. I was just talking about what he himself might have thought/felt. I might be wrong.
john is a true artist, he will continue to grow and create and we will get to enjoy the proses, as a guitar player i enjoy all his aproches to music, thay are all equily valled.
Actually, he has like 10 solo albums. But needless to say, he is an incredibly amazing guitarist. Is he the best of all time? Probably not, but he is definately up there. And as for the band, they are definately one of the best bands still making new music. They have been around for almost 25 years, and have progressed musically the whole way.
Probably you're right:) I'm only 23 years old, so I will know a lot of people in my life and if even one of them will be as unique as John I'll be lucky :)
My brother who is 12 now came up to me and told me he loved stadium arcadium, so I showed him the VPRO documentary of John and it was really interesting... What i mean is that Stadium arcadium is just made for a larger group of people but there is nothing wrong with that... you can see it as a bridge to the other beauties ... i think that makes sence
If you want to see the beginning of John look up his interview from 1994. You'll really appreciate how he has changed and what he was and strangely you'll even respect him them for his insightive thoughts.
Ah dude ur so awesome ur the reason the chilis albums are so diverse thats what i love bout them your solo stuff is awesome but seriously you're good in the chilis, I think you should rejoin and keep doing solo stuff too
Why is everyone posting about the negatives?! LISTEN TO THIS INTERVIEW! John Frusciante is such a soulful enlightening person, think about how much GOOD has come from these people!
I think that's because on Mother's Milk he was getting acclimated to the band. I absolutely love the album also myself (just recently bought it,) but it's quite apparent that he is taking massive influence and suggestion from Hilel's style, and seems to be playing somewhat in Hilel's shadow, so to speak.
He's so right. When you come up with something for a band and you play it and then your bandmembers add to it, it becomes something completely different.
@kweerb8 forget that, the red hot chili peppers need a movie/documentary to be made for them. everything each of the members have gone through in their lives, its crazy. its truly a miracle that john is alive today and thank god he is
yea thats a good way to describe it. like the stuff he did back then, he could get close to, but could not replicate now, but stuff he does now, he could have done back then. but the passion he puts into his work now, is better, because he has such a better understanding of music in general now. either way he is just one of the best of all time, but i was rally influenced a lot by his early work (MM/BSSM)
Close your eyes and picture Norm Macdonald. I love Johns playing though, and love the fact he's still alive and doing great things. Good luck John and RHCP.
Aye, you're right. I think some ignorant people trivialize how hard it is to overcome something that has such a grip over you, and your life. I'm pretty young, only 21, but i was in a bad way with booze a while ago. And it was something else to get off it.
he is exactly right when he says when we think we understand things but it means something else to other people thats what im trying to tell my english teacher about poetry
That's true, but it wouldn't really change his voice... because your mouth is what amplifies your voice, and any sounds you make resonate on your teeth and cheeks etc...and when you suddenly replace your teeth with dentures, often your voice can change...personally I don't think his voice has changed that much...
no man you misunderstood me,I was trying to say that if he were more into the chili peppers albums as much as he is with his own work like he stated in the interview but of course it is an amazing irreplaceble art what he does in all chili peppers albums I mean every single song is the best piece of music I've ever listen to by the way I'm really a huge fan of both John himself and the chili peppers I know every song love them by heart really.I hope I could made myself clear about this ..peace
He's clearing up really well. I can't grasp how the guy before the period of extremely hard drug use and this person in this video is the same man. Totally different personalities and looks.
John went his own way with the empyrean, he was just appeasing the peppers with this album, he is his own genius, great guy, his direction now will never fit in with the peppers and they all know they've reached their end, john knows the score, flea needs to escape he could make some good solo shit!
i met john on the Californication tour and it was one of the most odd experiences ever and he really didnt even say anything and having his autograph to me is like having Jimi Hendrix's autograph.....but he signed unlike Anthony who just jumped on the bus and skipped the 5 or 6 fans that were standing there. He's so attractive and talented can't stop watching him every thing he does thanks for uploading xxx
If I know something about John, it's that he always speaks from his heart. Such a loving person... (:
This guy is a true inspiration, Really a da vinci of music.
well said I have loved peppers for so long only recently appreciate his art
Absolutely,a gold statement 😍💞💞💞💞👏
He didn't brush he teeth while he was on drugs. There is a video of him answering fan questions and he tells the fans that it's important to brush your teeth...GOSH I love him!

This man is so gorgeous in body and mind
it's so funny that even men say they 'love' John... I think every human being has to love John because with his music he gives so much love to us...
When John's not playing guitar he at least needs some vivid gesturing :D
I am so grateful for this interview outtakes0. *I just have to keep changing … to keep myself interested* (JF). So true.
big personality, big gestures.
Kate Andrews :)
I also think it's his italian side :D
Haha :D
I have an Italian family member, and he seems to be sleeping or rather dreaming all the time ,,,, but his sons both are extremely pumped. Love them all, the new colors they contributed.

Such a beautiful soul John has!!! I love this man and he has helped me through a lot of things!!! Thank you John!!!!!!!!!!
"i think usually even when we think we know what things mean, i dont really think we do. words in peoples' heads, even if it's the same word, they mean one thing to one person and they mean another thing to the other person... they're not very precise, so if you get a feeling from something, to me that's the important thing."

He is a genious, period.
+Abril P everyone is a genius, he just tapped into it
+Abril P stop
no....everyone is NOT a genius,....lol....trust me.....lol
Sean Ruiz
genious
+James Rockford i mean if your trying to spell "genious"....its "genius".....lol....now THATS genius!!!!

2020 can't wait to see what's new John
Breasty milk, perhaps will be a musical influence this time. Lol. You never know. Moo.
You can't help but become a fan of John after this interview! He's totally connected.
He's one of the very best artists in our century. Thanks to heaven that we did not lose him in 90's.
He rocks!
I honestly could listen to him speak all day. And I have anxiety, which by that fact my hearing sensory is extreme. So, yeah I love Fru's voice.
Ty for this , interview like this is rarer then gold
Its called being genuine, hes a truly genuine person
this was uploaded on my B-Day...great gift , thank you
Damn when you look at him here and in 94 it's like a different man, different eyes, different voice, different face, different talking, differen character...
He's a completely enw man now and I'm damn happy about it. I like new John.
I love everything about John! Most beautiful human for me! 👍💓💓💓💓
he is a pure artist. very very rare artist.
I just watched stuff, i regret it, i cried and realised how lucky we are to still have the genious that is John Frusciante with us.
Hey, we're always lucky :)
i just finished watching the vpro videos from 94 when he looked like a skeleton and was saying things that would make him cry if he heard them today. i'm so glad he came back and improved himself and his attitude so much.
He makes me happy and a better person by just looking at him... LOVE HIM
How could anyone hate a guy so wonderful like him? Funnily enough, there are people that really hate him, those jerks need to open their ears and hearts.
He is so very serene and beautiful, i can watch this interview over and over again and still be amazed by his uniqueness. He makes so much sense to me.
Physically and metaphorically. It's brilliant, especially when you explore the meaning of his words in all the songs.
i love this man and the all the ways he mind bends. #OnlyOneJohn
Thumbs up if you saw the 1994 interview of him and now this .....and you are really happy about him like i am!
He most be so easy to interview :p I mean, ask him who he is and he will talk for an hour, It seems :p
Love him.
he looks and sounds as healthier in this interview than any of the others i've seen and i've seen most of them.
He is so incredibly insightful...hes a genius...
everything he plays and everything says...is from an obscure perspective that most people never would think of...
and he's sober now
unreal
I love John! He is the best guitarist ever, all categories!
He was always really on a another level. If you watch some of the early interviews you can tell he had another way of thinking... I'm glad he cut drugs...watching some of the VPRO stuff from 94' really made me wanna cry.

totally true.
we're so lucky to have john, a reason he's so cool.
sublime stylee is comming back!
sublime reunion reno, nv. 2.28.08
i know youve all seen this comment like 500 times...
but it never gets old
lesson from jesus children,
take notes
Maybe he doesn't know that he is much more better than Anthony and Flea like as artist...but he is
maybe u dont know buddy
yea, hes modest
Maybe he does know :)
***** I think I know what you mean. I know that he isn't chasing fame. I was just talking about what he himself might have thought/felt. I might be wrong.
***** And that's why we love John Frusciante.
John is my Idol. I love him! He's so beautiful...^^ He's amazing!
After watching that 94 interview.... I cant believe he's alive today. He was jacked up back then. So glad he's still alive.
john is a true artist, he will continue to grow and create and we will get to enjoy the proses, as a guitar player i enjoy all his aproches to music, thay are all equily valled.
my brain cant even comprehend that there are 21 dislikes...his voice itself when he talks makes me love him, no matter what hes rambling about
Actually, he has like 10 solo albums. But needless to say, he is an incredibly amazing guitarist. Is he the best of all time? Probably not, but he is definately up there. And as for the band, they are definately one of the best bands still making new music. They have been around for almost 25 years, and have progressed musically the whole way.
the reason that he is the best is because he has his own style of playing and does NOT have a big ego!!! hes my hero
it's so good to see him sober while he is interviewing ...
He's been sober for 20 years now lmao
Probably you're right:) I'm only 23 years old, so I will know a lot of people in my life and if even one of them will be as unique as John I'll be lucky :)
My brother who is 12 now came up to me and told me he loved stadium arcadium, so I showed him the VPRO documentary of John and it was really interesting...
What i mean is that Stadium arcadium is just made for a larger group of people but there is nothing wrong with that... you can see it as a bridge to the other beauties ...
i think that makes sence
He has grown more than a generation of thoughts since this interview. you are right.
If you want to see the beginning of John look up his interview from 1994. You'll really appreciate how he has changed and what he was and strangely you'll even respect him them for his insightive thoughts.
John's voice sounds like an American version of Norm McDonald to me.....
Greg Pasquier This is the greatest comment I've seen in a long time.
norm mcdonald is american
@silentiom which is america
@silentiom which is in america
@silentiom or you just dont get it. Have a good one!
Ah dude ur so awesome ur the reason the chilis albums are so diverse thats what i love bout them your solo stuff is awesome but seriously you're good in the chilis, I think you should rejoin and keep doing solo stuff too
I think that musically John is the creative force of the band. The others just sweeten the and conform the tunes to what the fans want and expect.
Why is everyone posting about the negatives?! LISTEN TO THIS INTERVIEW! John Frusciante is such a soulful enlightening person, think about how much GOOD has come from these people!
Look look very peaceful and joyful, John! Wonderful! much love to you...
so miss you in RHCP... the music we're missing out on!
John is my Idol. he got out of drugs. and into the clean life.. hes amazing
he's so right about the lyrics and stuff this is awesome! best musician...
Interviewer: What religion do you believe in? Me: Frusciante-ism
He's so right. When you come up with something for a band and you play it and then your bandmembers add to it, it becomes something completely different.
actually if you read Scar Tissue you'd realize Frusciante rediscovered Nirvana later on and is now a huge fan and has all the b-sides.
@kweerb8 forget that, the red hot chili peppers need a movie/documentary to be made for them. everything each of the members have gone through in their lives, its crazy. its truly a miracle that john is alive today and thank god he is
he has that inexplicable quality in his guitar playing which micheal jackson had in his sings..which connects to your soul
uhmm...he still goes crazy with the wah and string bends and the hendrixy stuff from time to time. He's a very diverse and well rounded guitarist.
I like the guitar work on By The Way better than any other album...
I think it's their best album. It feels great.
yea thats a good way to describe it. like the stuff he did back then, he could get close to, but could not replicate now, but stuff he does now, he could have done back then. but the passion he puts into his work now, is better, because he has such a better understanding of music in general now. either way he is just one of the best of all time, but i was rally influenced a lot by his early work (MM/BSSM)
dude he is perfect :) come back man please!
"The words he usually writes at the last minute," that explains a lot.
this is so different from the interview from 1994!!
Close your eyes and picture Norm Macdonald. I love Johns playing though, and love the fact he's still alive and doing great things. Good luck John and RHCP.
look up john fruciante july 9 if you miss his music so much.. and youre welcome :)
he is the man and one of the greatest guitarest out there but woaah the heroine really took a toll on him
A pic from the 94 interview to my right, and 2000's John to my left... Holy crap...
i just watched the 94 interview and i do not believe my eyes right now.
Aye, you're right. I think some ignorant people trivialize how hard it is to overcome something that has such a grip over you, and your life. I'm pretty young, only 21, but i was in a bad way with booze a while ago. And it was something else to get off it.
he is exactly right when he says when we think we understand things but it means something else to other people thats what im trying to tell my english teacher about poetry
what an awesome interview.
Basically....." i have always have been "A STRAIGHT BEAST" on the guitar
i just now recently decided to show it".
you can play 1 note, or 3000 notes and u will still be the greatest in my ears!
That's true, but it wouldn't really change his voice...
because your mouth is what amplifies your voice, and any sounds you make resonate on your teeth and cheeks etc...and when you suddenly replace your teeth with dentures, often your voice can change...personally I don't think his voice has changed that much...
no man you misunderstood me,I was trying to say that if he were more into the chili peppers albums as much as he is with his own work like he stated in the interview but of course it is an amazing irreplaceble art what he does in all chili peppers albums I mean every single song is the best piece of music I've ever listen to by the way I'm really a huge fan of both John himself and the chili peppers I know every song love them by heart really.I hope I could made myself clear about this ..peace

or rather just very honest. I like how he explains himself with no pretentiousness or complication.
i love this guy hes so laid back and life is just a big shiny kalidoscope (forgot how to spell that) to him
John frusciante was named the best guitar player of the past 30 years
Loving thisinterview
I really hate that I won't get to see RHCP with him behind the guitar. Oh well... All the best to JF. I think he's awesome and an inspiration.
i met john on the Californication tour and it was one of the most odd experiences ever and he really didnt even say anything and having his autograph to me is like having Jimi Hendrix's autograph.....but he signed unlike Anthony who just jumped on the bus and skipped the 5 or 6 fans that were standing there. Really changed my opinion of Anthony for sure.
finally a thumbs up comment that's actually relevant
One of my biggest goals in life is definitley to meet Frusciante. Just the opportunity to tell him how much he means to me, and how he has changed literally everything in my life. Made me happy when I'm down, to be more nice to less fortunate people and of course inspired me greatly in my music force. He is amazing.
I would also like to throw lots of eggs at a car.
