This years valentine vibe checked me hard with that. Through the story i was just unga bunga all dps because it worked well, even when events like KnK rerun popped up all dps still worked well, it was valentines that stopped that hard, during that event my frontline got to the boss wave with 5% health remaining for all 3, but when i grabbed a support waver things changed, my team went from reaching the boss wave with almost no health to almost full health. I learned to appreciate the power of waver.

Waver would be Gen X, he's 19 in 1994 (4th war) meaning he was born in 1975, 10 years after the 1945-1965 range for Boomers cuts off. With that said the only servant who would be a Boomer would be Kiritsugu, then again given how long he spent with Iri before the war, he might even be Silent Generation (Born pre-1945 but to young to fight) Given that there is at most 1 Boomer among current servants, with most the historic figures born and often dead by the WWI era, or most the Psudos where born in the 80's given them being about 18ish in 2004 making them all Millennials -Bored historian who really should be clearing the S2-2 shop right now rather than typing a nit-pick about a meme video.
I'm always rather disappointing when people pass over Nightingale so easily. I see so many people talk about "I got Nightingale, i'm so angry/sad/pissed that I didn't get someone useful". Actually try using the servant you get before deciding if they are good or not with your preferred play styles. While I am not saying she is secretly Waver tier or anything, she does offer a lot more use in terms of harder content. If you consider a team to be 1 DPS and 2 supports, Nightingale effectively gives you a team with 1.5 DPS, and 2 supports. Not only can she survive for longer than you would expect from a zerk(unless you are comparing her to Herc or Cu Alter), she also has some solid damage by virtue of her 50% damage boost against humanoid, and innate zerk damage boosts. Plus, while it may not see much utility, her quick card is able to get a solid 10-ish stars most of the time, which can be useful in some situations. throw her into a CQ fight with waves that lead up to the enemy, and she allows you to both get through the waves faster, but also get your team into the boss with max HP, and potentially, depending on if she survives long enough, a free no-NP turn for the enemy via her own NP. 50% Np down, and attack down at the same time is a 75% damage reduction, which is enough to make even single target NPs deal barely 5000 damage or so, which an extra defense buff can easily tank. Then she can die off, and bring in a better long term support. Or slap a Kscope on her, and use her as a plugsuit emergency "Yeah that last turn didn't happen" akin to Medea lily, but trading some healing for better damage buffs. Plus, if you enjoy arts teams more than buster teams, especially stall teams, she allows you to have a full DPS stall team, with 3 stallers, and a DPS. She pairs amazingly with Tamamo and Mash to make a hyper durable, debuff immune, high damage and NP spamming stall team. Merlin, Tamamo and her, while whale as hell, is one of the most hilarious teams just because unless something is able to instantly kill her through a 25% defense buff, and around 20K HP(via hero creation, fous, and passive stats from CE), you will just instantly heal her back up to full the next turn. Is she the optimal choice? Not really, outside of hyper niche situations that you likely won't run into more than once. But putting her off as "a zerk that only has the weakness of zerks and no strengths" only happens if you have not actually tried to use her based on her kit and strengths, instead of just treating her like a generic zerk. Her strengths are extremely strong, just they are never really meta, and so if you want an optimal team, she isn't a good pick. If you want an off-meta team that is both fun, and effective, she is a solid pick. Plus the argument that "Merlin does her job better" is void because Merlin does EVERYONES job better. It is neither fair, nor honest to compare anyone to the servant that changed FGO forever. Really, all she needs is one buff, either reduce her 2nd skill CD by 1 or 2 and give it a slightly stronger defense buff, or maybe add some kind of "all allies get max HP, and I get even more max HP" to her third skill and she would be an extremely reliable, and easily A or higher ranking support.
Nightingale is great when it comes to support and can fit into many teams, how come she's useless? (and I know that her class makes her fragile but she's team viable like the other supports)
Finally, someone who actually explains her strengths and how they are supposed to be used. A lot of people just brand her as a useless servant but she's one of the few support servants who can keep your main damage dealer servant alive while not being a hinder to the overall damage of the team. If worst comes to worst (like when fighting aoe enemies) she's a good transition buster support servant that gives up her spot quickly to another servant who can keep the buffs coming. Both in real life and in F/GO nurses surely are underrated despite such a selfless job they do for others.
The argument that "Merlin does her job better" is void because he does EVERYONES job better is neither fair nor honest to compare her to the servant that changed FGO forever. Thank you. More people need to hear this.
Just some clarifications, 1: If both are NP5, romulus quirinus outdamages karna against non divines. 2: If both are NP5, First Hassan outdamages MHX against non traits since his guts buff. Not like yalls have NP5 SSRs anyway

@@blankblank1661 well, I've seen some good ones that use Altria, but that is more because the author has that weird "but it's the official romanization muhhh, look at the Babylonia anime" and I'm like "dude, the other one is way older and more correct, since in Japanese it's spoken as Aru-to-ri-a, since they can't end a syllable with a t. So Arturia or Artoria is way closer to the Japanese one. It also sounds way more like "Arthur" or if you want to be ultra correct, "Artus", which is where it actually comes from.
@@xela6349 It also has historical validation going for it too as Artorius is the roman name for Arthur and so when you change the form to feminine it would come out as Artoria (which is standard in romance based languages like latin, spanish, french, english, etc.)
I think the focus is wrong here anyways. Less point blaming the people using a legitimate (but really dumb) localized name instead of the ones responsible for putting out the name Altria in the first place. Don't get me wrong though. I hate Altria much like I hate a lot of really dumb official names thanks to Japan having a terrible time using "L" when "R" is a far better choice. But, if people just go with the name being thrown at them every time they boot up the game...I can't blame them that much.

I really want to defend Vlad, because for a solid year he used to be the damage-engine of my all-purpose Arts team I took for most hard fights in events and the early singularities, but then I realized that for him to work, he not only needs immense amounts of resources poured into him (the bones man, those damn bones...), he also needs either native Tama, or Waver (preferably both) to set up the Arts Memes. I have all of that, and yet even so, I barely ever use him anymore. I have been doing the Buster Memes ever since I got Merlin on his last rate-up, and now I even have Skadi as well, so I just can't, in good conscience, call him particularly useful.
You forgot to mention Osakabehime’s crazy solo potential. Against anything with a high hit count (Demon Pillars, Super Gorgon, Moriarty, Gil, etc) she can spam her NP and eventually just stop taking damage after 3 turns.

I think Minne is a slightly better fit in this case though. High af base stats, consistent damage output and some kind of heal you're not really gonna use unless you fuck up somehow.
@@darkdude1996ify I missed the original run. Getting Minne in the rerun her stats have been crept hard by the Baltimores. Regardless statlines are fairly different between the games so I'd look at appearance and VA long before skills and stats. IIRC Noto still hasn't been in AL.
Baltimore and Bremerton are better, yes, but Minne is still T1 for a reason. Guess that's another thing they have in common: old unit that's still somehow relevant, though still not top tier. Massachusetts is thicc af though, and Altera is anything but thicc

Same, though I watch vtubers it feels a bit forced to put those memes into an fgo video. I think it's ok to nicknames as long as he brings up the actual name in text. I like the art but it takes a second to process who it is when there's different styles coming up one after the other.

Yeah, it's not really working for me either. I get a lot of the other gacha game references, even if I don't play them, just due to osmosis in the community, but hololive is so far out of my interest zone that for the first few times I didn't even realize what the heck he was talking/memeing/simping about.
Yeah I agree. I personally think the constant references to Hololive youtubers are not really enjoyable and that sometimes he stretches those jokes too far. But other than that I still think this video is a pretty good video :D
I think this may have just been a minor mistake but regarding Altera - since I got Altera recently I did check her interludes/strengthening quests - the buff to her S1 that makes all enemy defensive buffs isn't out in NA yet. It comes with 4th anniversary.
Actually, and I only learned this recently, Ishtars bull of heaven was summoned by her actual goddess form in a different fate verse or something along those lines. It wasn’t even her fault. Her actual goddess form isn’t a pseudo servant either. She is still useless tho.

The 3 stages of Waver usage
You have maxed out Waver: Man I dont know how I managed to go around without his skills maxed
You have low level skills/not fully ascended Waver: Man I dont know how I managed to go around without him
You have no Waver: Man this sucks.
This years valentine vibe checked me hard with that.
Through the story i was just unga bunga all dps because it worked well, even when events like KnK rerun popped up all dps still worked well, it was valentines that stopped that hard, during that event my frontline got to the boss wave with 5% health remaining for all 3, but when i grabbed a support waver things changed, my team went from reaching the boss wave with almost no health to almost full health.
I learned to appreciate the power of waver.
Currently, on the second stage. Plumes hell sucks lol.
Well atleast Merlin does the job right

Waver would be Gen X, he's 19 in 1994 (4th war) meaning he was born in 1975, 10 years after the 1945-1965 range for Boomers cuts off. With that said the only servant who would be a Boomer would be Kiritsugu, then again given how long he spent with Iri before the war, he might even be Silent Generation (Born pre-1945 but to young to fight)
Given that there is at most 1 Boomer among current servants, with most the historic figures born and often dead by the WWI era, or most the Psudos where born in the 80's given them being about 18ish in 2004 making them all Millennials

I'm always rather disappointing when people pass over Nightingale so easily. I see so many people talk about "I got Nightingale, i'm so angry/sad/pissed that I didn't get someone useful". Actually try using the servant you get before deciding if they are good or not with your preferred play styles.
While I am not saying she is secretly Waver tier or anything, she does offer a lot more use in terms of harder content. If you consider a team to be 1 DPS and 2 supports, Nightingale effectively gives you a team with 1.5 DPS, and 2 supports. Not only can she survive for longer than you would expect from a zerk(unless you are comparing her to Herc or Cu Alter), she also has some solid damage by virtue of her 50% damage boost against humanoid, and innate zerk damage boosts. Plus, while it may not see much utility, her quick card is able to get a solid 10-ish stars most of the time, which can be useful in some situations.
throw her into a CQ fight with waves that lead up to the enemy, and she allows you to both get through the waves faster, but also get your team into the boss with max HP, and potentially, depending on if she survives long enough, a free no-NP turn for the enemy via her own NP. 50% Np down, and attack down at the same time is a 75% damage reduction, which is enough to make even single target NPs deal barely 5000 damage or so, which an extra defense buff can easily tank. Then she can die off, and bring in a better long term support. Or slap a Kscope on her, and use her as a plugsuit emergency "Yeah that last turn didn't happen" akin to Medea lily, but trading some healing for better damage buffs.
Plus, if you enjoy arts teams more than buster teams, especially stall teams, she allows you to have a full DPS stall team, with 3 stallers, and a DPS. She pairs amazingly with Tamamo and Mash to make a hyper durable, debuff immune, high damage and NP spamming stall team. Merlin, Tamamo and her, while whale as hell, is one of the most hilarious teams just because unless something is able to instantly kill her through a 25% defense buff, and around 20K HP(via hero creation, fous, and passive stats from CE), you will just instantly heal her back up to full the next turn.
Is she the optimal choice? Not really, outside of hyper niche situations that you likely won't run into more than once. But putting her off as "a zerk that only has the weakness of zerks and no strengths" only happens if you have not actually tried to use her based on her kit and strengths, instead of just treating her like a generic zerk. Her strengths are extremely strong, just they are never really meta, and so if you want an optimal team, she isn't a good pick. If you want an off-meta team that is both fun, and effective, she is a solid pick.
Plus the argument that "Merlin does her job better" is void because Merlin does EVERYONES job better. It is neither fair, nor honest to compare anyone to the servant that changed FGO forever.
Really, all she needs is one buff, either reduce her 2nd skill CD by 1 or 2 and give it a slightly stronger defense buff, or maybe add some kind of "all allies get max HP, and I get even more max HP" to her third skill and she would be an extremely reliable, and easily A or higher ranking support.
Nightingale is great when it comes to support and can fit into many teams, how come she's useless? (and I know that her class makes her fragile but she's team viable like the other supports)
Finally, someone who actually explains her strengths and how they are supposed to be used. A lot of people just brand her as a useless servant but she's one of the few support servants who can keep your main damage dealer servant alive while not being a hinder to the overall damage of the team. If worst comes to worst (like when fighting aoe enemies) she's a good transition buster support servant that gives up her spot quickly to another servant who can keep the buffs coming. Both in real life and in F/GO nurses surely are underrated despite such a selfless job they do for others.
She fits well with 2030 because of the fact that she's a berserker meaning that she won't steal most of the stars from your buster DPS.
The argument that "Merlin does her job better" is void because he does EVERYONES job better is neither fair nor honest to compare her to the servant that changed FGO forever.

So Arturia or Artoria is way closer to the Japanese one. It also sounds way more like "Arthur" or if you want to be ultra correct, "Artus", which is where it actually comes from.

I think the focus is wrong here anyways. Less point blaming the people using a legitimate (but really dumb) localized name instead of the ones responsible for putting out the name Altria in the first place. Don't get me wrong though. I hate Altria much like I hate a lot of really dumb official names thanks to Japan having a terrible time using "L" when "R" is a far better choice. But, if people just go with the name being thrown at them every time they boot up the game...I can't blame them that much.

I really want to defend Vlad, because for a solid year he used to be the damage-engine of my all-purpose Arts team I took for most hard fights in events and the early singularities, but then I realized that for him to work, he not only needs immense amounts of resources poured into him (the bones man, those damn bones...), he also needs either native Tama, or Waver (preferably both) to set up the Arts Memes.
I have all of that, and yet even so, I barely ever use him anymore. I have been doing the Buster Memes ever since I got Merlin on his last rate-up, and now I even have Skadi as well, so I just can't, in good conscience, call him particularly useful.
Just remember at the end of the day, it’s your waifu, their always number 1 at your heart!
You forgot to mention Osakabehime’s crazy solo potential. Against anything with a high hit count (Demon Pillars, Super Gorgon, Moriarty, Gil, etc) she can spam her NP and eventually just stop taking damage after 3 turns.

@@darkdude1996ify I missed the original run. Getting Minne in the rerun her stats have been crept hard by the Baltimores. Regardless statlines are fairly different between the games so I'd look at appearance and VA long before skills and stats. IIRC Noto still hasn't been in AL.
Baltimore and Bremerton are better, yes, but Minne is still T1 for a reason. Guess that's another thing they have in common: old unit that's still somehow relevant, though still not top tier.

Yeah, it's not really working for me either. I get a lot of the other gacha game references, even if I don't play them, just due to osmosis in the community, but hololive is so far out of my interest zone that for the first few times I didn't even realize what the heck he was talking/memeing/simping about.

I think this may have just been a minor mistake but regarding Altera - since I got Altera recently I did check her interludes/strengthening quests - the buff to her S1 that makes all enemy defensive buffs isn't out in NA yet. It comes with 4th anniversary.
