I've had this on my wish list for a few weeks and thought it looked interesting....Imma git it now. Thanks dude! Loving all the Switch reviews and content! Take care!
Just beat it. I think it's one of my new favorite games. The story is amazing, one of the best narratives I've seen for like, ever lol And it really spoke to me on where I'm at in life right now. It has some of the best atmosphere I've seen in a game. The eery-spooky feels it gives is great. The voice acting is AAA level stuff. And the replay value is MASSIVE. I think I may give this 2-3 more runs. Man, this blew me away.
Good review. I loved this game when I played it on PS4, it had an amazingly creepy tone to it that kept me interested all the way through. The writing is superb, and the characters are very relatable. I bet the long load times are due to the voice over work, which is also top notch.
I just finished this game half an hour ago and I agree with your points. I honestly had not much of an idea what type of game this was as I saw it on sale on eshop for $8 and read the summary. I was pleasantly surprised! The characters were interesting and I got more emotionally invested in Alex and Jonas relationship as sort of siblings and the themes it deals with such as loss, friendships and overall interactions. I’m eager to do a second playthrough to see how different interactions result in different endings
This game was awesome! I had a void in my life after almost 200 hours on BOTW (having had a 15 year break from gaming). It took around 5 hours to finish but I’m now up for replaying and making different sorts of dialogue choices. Loved the art style and creepy atmospheric music. Best £5 I spent on a game!!!
I was as emotional as you were when playing the game. Bought on PC a while ago, but bought it again on Switch because it is one of my favorite narrative driven game in this generation. I'm really happy to see a specific switch review, and hope it'll draw more attention on this one, and the genre as a whole. Prepping up for Kentucky Route Zero :)
Comparing -oxenfree- and night in the woods. They are similar and I like both of them. 1: for the supernatural like atmosphere, 2: for likable characters, and reason 3: the music. But I enjoyed the story and the conclusive(?) ending unlike when an ending seeks up on you and throws a ton of information at the last 30 minutes with no time to process it (it takes a bit for me to warm up to those kind of endings) but I like how this game prepares you for it like until dawn then piece together a solution and everyone’s happy . (Or are theyyyyyy?)
Picked this up on sale after getting a switch. I wish I would have played it on my tv rather than handheld mode. Also, put on subtitles too, I didn't and missed some key "wow" moments. Overall, I felt it was a bit too slow traversing the world and load times were long. After letting it simmer upon completion, I'm appreciating what the game does with character development and relationships. Great review Eric
Oxenfree is a great game, but just like the story, it never died, it was just... forgotten. The community for it is vast and expansive, yet it never seems to be noticed. Why? Well this game released at the height of a certain fandom, and the fan base did something unorthodox, but very smart at the same time. It hid itself in the deepest pages of the web. The community is not big on RUclips, and it’s rare to see anything on Reddit. You have the search for it. Now, will you?
Well I've played this game on the switch and I mean I liked it. I love the story and how all that mystery things are happening but the gameplay wasn't that big of a deal I mean you like walked all over the island and flipped a little bit with your radio. But that's why it's good that the map isn't that big.But the story was freaking amazing and I was close to starting to cry. And I also like that there's voice acting.
*Spoliers* The thing I don't understand is in order to save Michael, you have tell him to not follow his dreams. You have to try to convince him to stay home and not leave. What kind of moral is that? Weird choice on the game makers part if you as me...
Mine did start to have slight frame rate issues toward the very end of the story. Only within the last maybe 40 minutes of gameplay though and only every couple of minutes a slight freeze. More like a frame skip than freeze.
mark williams in my opinion yes, and Idk if he mentions it in this video but it has replay value and its so much more entertaining than life is strange
mark williams oh yeah it is I actually might just buy a physical copy just to have it in case I play it in the future, not gonna spoil the best parts of it but I definitely enjoyed it
Better than life is strange? That sounds like a bit of a stretch. Granted I haven't played this yet (buying it now) but LiS was amazing especially with the soundtrack let alone the story. I find it hard to believe it'd be better especially considering it had interesting gameplay mechanics like time rewind. From this review it seems it's just walk n talk, gameplay wise anyway.
I love story-driven games, visual novels and interactive movies, but Oxenfree just didn‘t work for me... The story is pretty basic and offers very unlikable characters. The protagonist is fine, but the two boys are just annoying and the girls barely talk. The gameplay is pretty much non-existent, you just walk around in slow-motion and your dialogue decisions don‘t seem to effect the story at all. Maybe they do, but if you don‘t notice any changes, the whole decision system seems kind of pointless. Maybe they should have left out the walking completely, I‘d rather sit back and enjoy the story than be forced to do tedious gameplay. The music is good, the visuals fine but I didn‘t like the voice actors: They do a good job, but this is supposed to be a group of teenagers, so why do they sound like 30? And finally this game has the longest loading screens I have ever experienced in a Switch game. It‘s loading for like 30 seconds every three minutes which really puts you out of the story. The 10€ weren‘t worth it and I‘m glad the game only lasted 3 hours. I‘d give it a 6.5 out of 10. Some people seem to love this game and that‘s cool. I’d rather go for Tangle Tower or a Telltale Game instead.
Enjoyed the review. I was looking for some indie games under the radar. Going to give it a go. Love your videos. I think my favorite was something about video games making you gay.
This review is waaaaay too outstretched just for the sake to reach the 10 minute mark for that extra bit of revenue, I don’t blame you but don’t do it so obvious. also you stutter a lot of times. No sub from me, sorry.
After reading your comment, yea, I’d have to agree. I skipped most parts of it to begin with. No script, uninteresting commentary with next to no analysis of the pillars of game review, imo of course. Not saying I could do better, just would like some youtubers to get to the point and cut what’s unnecessary in the vid

I have a question, how long can you play with a full charge? Mine dies quite easily for a game that I think doesn't use much power.
Lasts about between 3-4 hours on full charge
