Damascus Edge (No Fringe) Weaving Tutorial

- The Damascus (and half Damascus) technique is great for tightly woven pieces (aka weft faced cloth) that you want to display without fringe.
You can still use this technique with other styles of weavings, just make sure you add a number of rows of tightly woven plain weave on the edge you want to finish with the Damascus technique.

Thank you for making such a concise vid! All other ones I found were like reading a recipe blog lol

Thank you so much.
I have been trying to learn how to finish my weaving without a tassel and the half Damascus is perfect.
Loved your tutorial. Straight forward.
Thank you so much!
I saw this technique once and have been wanting to use it for my fringeless weavings. So nice to add this to my stitch library.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this video! I've wanted to make some mug rugs without fringe! 👍🏼

hello . i just learned how to weave . i am weaving on a cardboard loom and have to do a project for school . i do not want a fringe so i am very glad i found this tutorial however i still am a bit confused . i made a pattern for my design that is rows of color but with the cardboard loom we use something called a base . what do i do with that and my pattern do i need to start my design above the base? do i remove the base and move things down ? please help . i am having trouble finding an answer because its also kind of hard to google the correct question . thanks for your time
Thank you!
Great! 🥰
Thanks! 😊
Anyone know if this stitch will hold up in washing machine? Thanks

Great vids. Do you have any vids on warp faced weaving. I'd love to combine the two.❤
Sorry, I don't! Warp faced weaving would be better done on a floor loom or inkle loom, vs the frame loom I use on this channel.
I’ve always finished with a twinning stitch or a hem stitch. Would it be okay to do this on a really big piece? I’m so nervous haha
I think this would be fine on a big piece *if* it is tightly woven enough on the bottom.
Neat! Have you tried pairing this with a twining stitch out of curiosity, or would that be weird or structurally unsound? 🤔
I haven't, in this particular weaving the twining wouldn't have provided much structure since the warp was a little wider and the materials I was weaving with were quite thin.
Hi! Ur videos are so helpful! I'm 12 years old. I have a question. While I weave to the top, the weaving gets tight, even though I take care. So, do u know how to solve this problem? Ty! 😊
Your weaving will always get tighter as you weave and fill up the warp, if it's getting way too tight you may need to create more of an arch as you're weaving: ruclips.net/video/g4iaPTmzvuU/видео.htmlsi=yqMmZNEE3eP0jazG
If that still doesn't help, you may just be weaving too close to the top of the loom, so either try to end your piece further from the top, or use a larger loom so you don't have to fill up the warp completely.
@@spruceandlinen ❤️ Okay! Thank u so much!!!!
