- How to finish a handwoven item with a "Damascus edge." As far as I can tell, that term was coined by Peter Collingwood in The Techniques of Rug Weaving (1968). It works best for weft-faced weaves with a wide warp sett.
The warp for the mug rug in this video is doubled 8/4 cotton carpet warp, meaning that two warp threads are treated as one.

What a great idea to finish up a woven piece !!! 🙂
Thank you! There are lots of other finishing methods that I plan to show in the future, but this is my favorite 😊
Now that I know it is called damascus edge I will definitely be doing that with my mini tapestry weaving
This would be perfect for mini tapestries! :)
Very helpful. Thank you!

Thank you!
Thank you for this great information! Love your videos, can’t wait to see more!
Thanks for watching! Much more to come :)
This is neat. Can you add more fridge for decoration, still using this technique?
Yes, absolutely! This technique makes a firm knotted edge to secure the weft, leaving you free to do whatever you want with a decorative fringe.
