Depends what they experienced. I have plenty dogs, i raise them the same but they react differently. Reason is, some i raise from birth(owned the parent) some adopted from small(shop/relative dog they didnt want) and strays that stay nearby keep asking for food and play with my dogs until he became my dog too(acustomed to me/tamed by me). For the raised from birth, since i have cared for them and they relied on me, never been hurted(at least intentionally) so they trusted me, i have stepped on theur paw and tail by accident and all they do is wail and just give me a sad look(why u hurt me hooman?) The raised from small is more or less the same as long as they didnt met abusive human before, just took longer for them to give complete trust than the raised from birth, the older the longer it took, especially if there is an owner before then damn they can be tame to you but the moment the ex owner came they still more willing to go with then rather stay even though they wouldnt object being with you or you picking them up ypur arms, the older they are(longer stay with ex owner) the harder to the extent of imposibility removing that longing(if it been 2 year or more from birth with ex owner and raised with love) Now the strays however, drop outside and left behind since smoll and unwanted everywhere, no human raised it except random bypasser giving it snack(rarely) since it stay outside with no care(house dog is kinda stoopid) they often hurt themself many bald patches scars and illness and stank as hell, when they go to people for food, kicked away, splashes with water(sometimes boiling/hot tea/cofee) smacked with stick/broom and children throwing rocks at it. These kind became angered at human and untrusting, they dont actively attack since they afraid but if random hand came they will bite out of fear and anger. Pick one up(2 or 3 year old dog i dunno) since it has pure white fur(even dirty i knew it since i kept lot of dog in my farn, pure white is rare for random blood line dog, never buy expensive pure breed one they are unsuitable on my farm, weak and smoll and adorbs, just gonna get bitten to death by other jungle creature(giant lizard, snake, rats lots of ratsssss, and other dog from neighbor farn damn them).) And it took me 6 month of feeding it by left it in a bowl and walk away for it to eat it, another 3 month of feeding it near it since it used to me, and only after that i can start petting it(not while it eating, u have been warned) after another month of petting then it will be tamed but if u accidentally hurt it, then the tail stand up high, fangs will appear with threatening growls... Worth it since it becane pretty big and strong white furred female dog that brings me with plenty of these ferocious snowballs(mated with my dogs, it thanks to these dog playing with it and didnt gang up(territorial, being female has merit) on her when she appear that i was able to tame it, otherwise she would go to some other place than stay here even if i feed it).
Yeah. Well-treated dogs (and cats even) will make a point to refrain from causing their person harm even when frightened. In fact, quite the opposite-- they might try and bury their face into your chest for comfort at the vet. As if it would save them from the needles, haha
