- When this 415i arrived from Anacortes Washington in Sept 2010, all the keys had a squeeky friction that just didn't feel right. The keys interface should be stunning and smooth right? Fortunately that is a very easy fix. A note: you'll likely want to power off your unit before doing the work in case a spring pops off - and they do pop off. You don't want it landing on a circuit board.
Also here I found a good way to add an effects box. Have a look and you'll see. Its about the easiest thing you can imagine.
If you're ever wondering whether to buy a d-85 or 415i, what they can sound like, have a listen to this... goo.gl/z4t8Q
Cheers for the Celeste tip, mine has never worked, I should give it a try.
Really great, thanks for sharing this. Just bought a D-85 and love the idea to add external effects the way you did in this vid. Looking forward to seeing your next tweaks!
Thanks for this video, man! I just got an old 205D and this gave me some ideas on how to service it.
It's interesting to know how do if we have a problem.
But I have a D65 and a D85 and all is ok and I think they are wonderful instruments.
🎹
very nice indeed ...interesting to see differences between the D85 and 415.
Hi elektonics,
thank you for the very useful and informative video. I am looking forward to seeing more mods from you. Does btw anybody know whether the tone generation of an E70 very much dffers from the D85? After a long time looking for one it turned out a guy one block away sells one for no money. Getting mine next week!
Pretty useful. Thanks. I will try to check my keys and fix my leslie. All other features are perfect on mine.
@Audioquest56 Noisy yep, like a lot of older electronics. And lowest noise is a top priority for me.
It was great to cut easily into the signal path to reduce noise. I plan to find the earliest spot in the circuit with even less noise. And if that still ain't enough, maybe an upgrade of some caps and resistors...
Have you added any mods to these yet? Keen to hear what you achieved!
i have Yamaha TM-5 tone cabinet and was wondering it there is a user manual for it....also on the back of D-85 there is a spot to plug in a Leslie...any thoughts???????
Boa tarde!
Sou do Brasil e tenho um orgao yamaha D 800 ele parou de sair som nos falantes, ai so uso na interface. O sr tem conhecimento oq pode ser ?
Do you find the onboard amp noisy? My D-80 has a constant "shhhhh" sound from the amp. It must be in the pre-amp section as the sound is sent to the TM-5 tone cabinet as well.
Nice !!!!
I will clean the upper kb ( 3 notes are not triggering properly the synth )
Thanks for the vid :-)
Did you add effects ?
Its very very easy to do that. A couple bolts, and a plug or two.
Although it probably wouldn't be a job for the faint-hearted, a complete re-cap of all the boards (especially the power supply and amplifier boards) should probably be done on all these old organs. Those electrolytics are now well over 30 years old and probably well out of spec.
I was just playing it tonoght annnddd..... NO! Sorry no mods yet!!
Great vid and i dig your fx mod :)
what is the rotary soeaker like inside?
There is actually a Tremolo possible with this. I was so shocked to hear some motor run up when trying out one of these things!
Yes google "organ forum E70 mods"
