I have read this entire comic and it's awesome.

Original je'dai seems more rational wat of life to me. You can't deny emotions, nor reason. Balance or a golden mean in Aristotelian terms. That's why I always felt a distance to SW franchise due to it's blind dualism - Jedi vs. Sith/Reason vs. Emotions.
metal87power I, personally, think that you're wrong. While there are many perceived grey areas in life, that is due to humanity's contradictory nature. In truth, it's impossible to "balance" emotion and logic because emotions are inherently illogical. The only reason "good" emotions may not seem illogical is because people view it from a sentimental perspective. Emotions are a natural part of living. Therefore, there is no shame in faltering or allowing one's self to feel them. However, there is an issue with denying the truth and arrogantly believing your views to be inherently superior.

Voiceinthewind you are looking at Star Wars all wrong you are looking at it through are reality not theirs. What makes Star Wars unique is the force now people love to say there's a middle of light in dark but that's not true in Star Wars because the force is there to always make sure there's extremes that's why people fall in to the sith or Jedi. The balance of the force is to restart the cycle of light and dark to set it to the status quo

Hey chill it I was just voicing my opinion apparently it was lost in the wind(pause for laughter) in your comment you didn't mention the middle of the force or what it means to bring balance to the force. You listed the flaws with the sith and Jedi which is good but I thought you were making a case for the grey Jedi I had no malice here
The main problem is that not everyone can balance the light and the dark.
Choosing the light side is like choosing the lesser evil.
If you get bored you should do the tales of the Jedi series. I so badly want to see them in film.

This is why Joli Bindo and Qui Gon Jin are my favorite characters. They were not dark, just Gray Jedi.
Qui Gon is not a grey Jedi. Grey Jedi are Jedi or force users that do there own thing while Qui Gon answered to the council and only disagreed with them on certain occasions.
He didn't only disagreed, he "defied" them on several occasions, which is way beyond something that simple.
Joli bindo was a coward he saw the problem with the Jedi and instead of trying to fix it he ran( I really like him as a character by the way) and qui gon Jin did try to do something he was fooled right into the Sith Lords plan to start a war with the republic the grey Jedi are failures
Joli Bindo escaped the monasterial, religious zealots the Jedi were in the Old Republic, not because he was a coward but because he could not understand how these prudes couldn't even accept love as a positive trait, that is why he went to Kashyyk to live with his wife. As for Qui Gon, he was not the one who was fooled by the Sith, it was Anakin. Gray Jedi aren't failures, they are the ones who do understand the real nature of both sides of the Force and how necessary it is to do so to maintain the balance.
There is no balance between the two the light side is balance the dark is unbalance. Look I love joli bindo because of his character arc the reason he fallows you is to redeem himself for running away from his problems with the Jedi and qui gon really wasn't a grey Jedi he was a maverick in the Jedi but his failure lead to the rise of the sith he gave palpatine everything he needed to take power

Well, the Jedi are supposed to follow the balance. The light side is the force which is balance. The dark side is not a requirement of the force. It's like cancer. Does your body need to be half sick to have balance?

According to GL, how the Force works is that balance means "all Light", and the Darkside is the underbelly of the Force, the energy of death which is not meant to be touched.
Light = The Living Force, the realm of the living and all life in the galaxy and its energy, the Force Ben Kenobi tells Luke about
Dark = The counter to the Light, the energy which feeds on death, and causes death
The Cosmic Force = The balance, the interplay of Light and Dark, and the cycle of life, energy of the universe between the two dimentions, where the energies of Light and Dark are traded between the abyss and the living world.
All of the dead go to the Cosmic Force, their unconcious energy is dragged there by the Dark and then caught by the Cosmic so that it is not entirely obliterated, but feeds back around to the Light, and creates new lifeforms. (The exception are Force ghosts, Lightside practioners can be so immersed in Light they can avoid the Cosmic Force at death, and retain their conciousness by existing in the Light itself, where as the Darksiders who try to hang on to their conciousness at death become maddened ghosts anchored to the living galaxy, unable to move on to anywhere, which is also considered a peversion/corruption upon the Living Force).
When the Sith use the Darkside, it corrupts and hurts the galaxy, because the Darkside is not meant to be touched, it's not meant to exist in the "realm of the light" aka the SW galaxy and all of its living beings.
The Darkside is in a different realm, which is "bridged" but not "manifested", to the realm of the living via the "Cosmic". It causes things to decay, die of old age, to feed new life. But when a person uses the Darkside, when they actually bypass the Cosmic wall to "manifest it" into the galaxy, it begins to wound the living Force, the lightside, and it begins to pervert the Force and cause chaos. It's why Darksiders look like living corpses. They are literally decaying, as they are gaining power from the energy of death, which is rotting them inside and out.
If the Darkside is not prevented from "manifesting" in the living galaxy, it ends up eating up the Lightside (this is known as a "wound" in the Force), if that happens enough over time, all life ceases. Without life, there is no Force, and without the Force there is no life.
The Dark and light must stay within their respective bounds/dimentions. That is what "balance" means, it doesn't mean using both sides of the Force, or that both sides are to co-exist in the galaxy where people are.
Now the flaw of the later Jedi, is that they associated emotions = Darkside, which isn't true. Emotions are fine, so long as they are not used to tap into the Darkside for power. In fact, love and compassion are components of the Light. But the Jedi later became paranoid and saw the risk of just having emotion at all as too much, so they changed the Jedi code, which in turn slowly caused the Order to become cold and detached, which was ironic considering they were meant to be compassionate defenders of the weak and innocent. When Luke restored the Jedi, he restored the ancient Jedi way, of being true to the Light, whilst also being allowed to have emotions and attachments.
@@analothor This is simple what Lucas said. The dark side is more of a cancer then a real part of the force. It hurts the force in away. So whether the jedi or sith believe it or not. The light is the balance.

Dawn of the Jedi was a great series, shame Ostrander and Duurasuma had to truncate it when Disney brought them from Dark Horse. We may have gotten more info on the Architects and the force origins.

@ComicsExplained it is interesting seeing the original spelling of Je'Daii seems so close to Medjay, pronounced Meh Jai. Also if you look up the Jhedi Khepri a warrior tribe from Egypt you'll see shocking similarities

Yeah. Plus Timescale -- it causes confusion but not negatively so. Because seriously, when we try to do that in OUR history it gets hard. So basically if you play SWTOR, Yavin hasn't happened yet so the time scale they have gets "re-zeroed" after the pivotal Treaty of Coruscant.

It is all non-canon. There was never any reason for Disney to throw out all the canon before the end of episode 6. It was just stupid on their part.

Tython does still "technically exist". It's been mentioned in some canon books; it got a line in Complete Locations, and showed up in a map for Fantasy Fight Game's The Force Awakens Tabletop RPG. Of course, it's place as an super special magic planet and the place the Jedi originated have been removed, but that's no great loss, since Tython being the place the Jedi came from was itself a big retcon. I'd take Tales of the Jedi over Dawn of the Jedi anyday.

One of the best of the Star Wars comics, beat only by Clone Wars books IMO. I have this whole series and I love it. I had hoped we'd see the Kwa in Disney film but I have no hope for that now.

"je'daii' would be pronounced with the first part being very quick, and sound more like "ja" than "Jeh'. Daii would be the emphasized syllable and would sound like "die".

Je'dai should be pronounced like jē-DĪ. Long vowel sounds with emphasis on the second syllable. Like th Yuu-jhong Vong in the Expanded Universe. Which makes you wonder if there was contact 30,000 BBY...

I read this comic about a year ago and i was blown away it was really interesting, and i wish it was canon.
How about explaining some of the more obscure titles. I remember a lot of really good titles from the 80's with a short run on obscure heroes.

Maybe I misunderstood what your meant, but around 1:40, it sounds like you're implying that Episode IV takes a while to unfold. The whole story takes place in three to four days, max. The only exception is the throne room ceremony, which one can reasonably assume was held a week or so after the destruction of the Death Star, as they would need a little time to repair and polish the droids [and order the champagne].
Hurts to see the beginning with the last Jedi not being out yet.

Except that is not the Grey Jedi, the Grey Jedi were known as walking the line. Jedi were pretty much classified with Apathy.
The apathy of the gray Jedi come from the unwillingness to change anything the see the problem with the sith with the Jedi and they do nothing look at Jolee Bindo, Ashoka Tano, or the Bendu (god I love saying that name) what do the most notable grey Jedi do? The answer is nothing the grey Jedi run and hide not willing to change anything that's the failure of the grey Jedi
