  • In July and August 2022 I rode (part of) Eurovelo 6, from west to east. This video is part 1 of a short series to guide you to the route. Experience the trip in first person as I travel through the middle of a historic heat wave.
    This section of Eurovelo 6 is shared with La Loire à Vélo route. Find the map with downloadable GPX files here: en.francevelot...
    You can also find this video on my web site: pelmers.com/gu...

    I loved the video and the music. It has a very nice flow to it. Thanks for sharing it. I hope I can ride that route someday.

    Love the music, had a daft punk feel to it, which really fits for france in the summer. Looks like a lovely chill route

    The style's very relaxing! It feels like a travelogue more than the usual videos, which feel like guided tours. Maybe's that from the voiceover. The scenery and choices of clips are lively and beautiful.

    I liked the voice over commentary on this; I LOL’d at that sleeping beauty line 😂

    I did the Eurovelo 6 (Loire a Velo) in the opposite direction this year (from Nevers to Nantes). It was a very nice experience and it's nice to see it from a different direction.
    My next plan is a trip from Nantes to Bordeaux.
    I like your video style, maybe show more of the cities you visit along the way.

    1:08 - The transition is well put! Feels smooth but also ambient with the incoming beats, not to mention the good timing of that cycling guy passing by!
    The memory recollection from watching def feels even more rewarding than the actual adventure!!
    Sleeping beauty lol, seems you got yrself woken up without a prince~

    This is a dream trip for me and I have a ton of questions and this answered some of them. First, Thank you for making this. I'm loving it. I like the style of the video. It's pretty but also informative and I like hearing what you enjoyed and found challenging. It looks like you covered about 50Km a day. About how many hours did that equate to in the saddle? Thanks! -H

      @pelmers  Год назад

      Hi, thanks for the comment! On the bike I averaged about 15-16kph. Of course each day was much longer because of stops but you can guess saddle time from that speed.

    One of the coolest video I’ve seen about Eurovelo 6 so far, it’s like I was pedaling on the road (oh boy, imagine that if I wore VR glasses)! Thanks for making this video. Definitely subscribed.
    Just out of curiosity, it seems you have lots of experience with long-distance riding, would you consider to share some of your experience about that to rookies some day? Thanks!

    Great video, well produced and voiceover works very well. Would be good to get some data on miles ridden, cycling times (eg leave, arrive, breaks), inclines and maybe a bit about accommodation/camping.

      thanks! re: details, for part 3 and 4 I begin showing a map. Here, the route taken follows exactly the link posted in the video description.
      re: camping, I have a google maps list of all the potential campsites in the French part of the route: goo.gl/maps/nCPoH5fVWy28YDrA6. Over the trip some nights were in hotel and some were in the tent.

    Indeed a nice relaxing style. Simple and to the point. I'm planning this trip for early 2024. Is there a complete map set available? I'm thinking about riding east to west as you've brought up the very important point of sun in the eyes right out of the gate each day. Thanks again.

    I know what you did last summer..
    Feedback wise, I personally would love to see some more detailed footage of the historical bits, a closer look with maybe, if it's not too much trouble, some info (when built, by whom etc). But I understand that might be a lot of extra work for just a few more viewers.

    Great video with worthwhile commentary! It was fun to see how the snacks and drinks in
    the front carrier changed. What bike were you riding? How many miles/hours did you ride each day?

      thanks! I rode on an old Gazelle bike I bought second-hand, about 40miles per day average with lots of pauses in the middle

    Hey Peter. Love the series. I am interested to know what sort of accommodations did you stay at..

    • @pelmers
      @pelmers  Год назад +1

      Hi, it was about a half and half split between camping and hotel/bnb. In the French section most villages and smaller cities have a well-appointed municipal camping site that is very accessible. Maybe too accessible, since they're filled with RVs, but at least they have working showers and spacious sites.

    • @pelmers

      thanks! Throughout France it was convenient to camp in campsites. The quality varied but all the ones I visited at least had working showers.
      By the way I have a google maps list of all the potential campsites in the French part of the route: goo.gl/maps/nCPoH5fVWy28YDrA6
      It may not be 100% accurate but it can give you the idea that there are indeed many options
