I loved his version of Live and Let Die, starting out as Noodle on BGT when he returned there. Beautiful. Not sure what his training was, if any, but he was a school teacher and only about 24 when he was on BGT the first time.

Watched him when he was on BGT, he was so humble, said he was a secondary school teacher, but everyone was absolutely blown away when he reached those high notes. Thank you Ken for reacting to Tom. I bought his first LP and it's stunning. From what I've heard his recording came in at 2 in the charts.

I love Tom. He's brilliant and so humble. He's done brilliant covers of The Sound of Silence and Creep. You should check them out.

I wish you'd listened to the original version. There's so much reverb, much of Tom's vocal qualities are lost.
His voice is so beautiful, it doesn't need all this decorum to be appreciated.

I highly recommend Tom’s live version of Sound of Silence. It’s much better than the version he recorded later.

Tom's voice is truly an incredible instrument. One of the best male voices today..and maybe ever. He deserves global superstardom and maybe one day it will happen for him.

Look up on RUclips, Tom Jones doing this song in 1970 on his TV show. There really is no comparison. Tom Ball wins this one hands down! Tom Jones' version sounds almost choppy next to Tom Ball. Don't get me wrong -- I grew up during the Tom Jones era and I listened to him a lot. But, Tom Ball wins this one.

You should check out Jolene by Ray Lamontagne. The Sessions @ AOL is a decent performance. Hardly anybody sings gruff and soft like him. He pulls back on some phrases like the wind got knocked out of him like life came along and dealt him a hard blow while singing.

For me the next stage of Tom Balls career is to sing in a foreign language and very soon the next James Bond movie into…… like a young male Shirley Bassey….he’s transitioning from a basic singer to a world class performer!

Just subscribed to your channel, love you genuine and honest judging of singer’s vocals. I watched your video on fairuz, a beautiful voice from my country . I am going to make a recommendation though, that I think you will be amazed by. Um Kulthum, an Arab singer that has passed 50 years ago and people still listen to her and consider her the greatest singer of the Arab world, even made it on The Rolling Stones recently as the first Arab singer to ever be on the list . A very famous song of hers is “inta omri” which I think the viewers would enjoy. Not to forget mentioning that her most famous songs were during her 60s and 70s. Thank you and hope you can consider this!

'Loved your comments and critique! So Frederick Robert eh? Now I go deep diving again for a singer I may have never noticed. Ty! So would Tom be considered a Tenor or First Tenor? You mentioned breath control ... YES! And what I also love about him is his enunciation.......you hear every word. If a singer slurs or doesn't 'end' words, I'm totally turned off. What is semi-glottal (sp?) attack? I love his pure, natural vibrato. For 25 years old, this 'kid' has his shite together! I read somewhere he was doing cruise ships. If he doesn't already have it in his sights, I can see him being a lead in musicals - he emotes every emotion with his hands, his eyes, his deliveries. Bring Him Home, Empty Chairs ..... ya, I can see him being a lead .....absolutely. As always, loved your reaction and intellect!!!
