Love this. I could listen to Bruce's solo stuff for years and not get bored.
Good to hear this song live. The band (and even Bruce) sound better than expected, considering it's just the second gig together, and Bruce being "off" from giving full concerts for over 6 months. I'd love to have that energy in my 60s...
He knows Iron Maiden are coming to an end. Considerimg he cannot fly anymore becauee too old and the main band will finish, he needs to resurrect this to keep his income
Steve Harris has his band, him and Bruce resurrecting their bands is a sign Iron Maiden will finish soon. Maybe 2026 or 27 the end as 2025 will be 50 year anniversary

Bruce sounds better here than he does singing Maiden these days. I think it’s a combination of not having a huge stage to run around on, but also because Bruce himself actually wrote these vocal lines.
Steve isn’t exactly sympathetic to his singers’ vocal ranges or limitations when he’s doing the writing, and Bruce strains a lot on older Maiden.
At any rate, Bruce has assembled a damn solid band and I wish I could see him live this go-around, but he’s not playing near me.
Starchildren is in D, which is a lower key than most Maiden songs (with some notable exceptions) so it’s probably a lot more comfortable to sing. Not taking anything from Bruce though - he sounds simply amazing and huge kudos for bringing this one into the set!
