    Aside from the military that you mentioned, there are some other instances where dual citizenship is not allowed in the US:
    1. You work for the Federal government where your job requires security clearance (example: CIA, NSA, FBI, etc)
    2. You work for a Federal contractor where your job requires security clearance (example: Lockheed, Raytheon, General Dynamics, etc.)
    3. You are running for high public office (classic example: Senator Ted Cruz renouncing his Canadian citizenship)

    Hello, Vlogger Grandpa!
    I am applying for dual citizenship next month, and It says that I need the PSA - birth certificate as part of the requirements. I only have the NSO birth certificate. Do I need to order a PSA birth certificate or does the consulate (Washington D.C.) accept NSO?
    Thank you.

    Apparently, discrimination against the upoked extends beyond the PH shores. The homepage of the consulate in la-la land greets you with a splash screen of such senseless paranoia while the city itself (and the rest of kali) have already ditched the poke and muzzle edict which got old a long time ago and that many didn't follow anyway to begin with. So such discriminated class of people cannot even go to the consulate to finalize the process of reacquiring their citizenship. Instead of unifying the people, they intentionally have been trying very hard to create divisiveness. Gee, I wonder why. What gives? philippineconsulateladotorg

      Cause they are lazy and don't wanna work. Scared of a virus too. In the Philippines everything is open. Even tourists are back. Also no mask wearing outdoors. Just get it done at DFA inside the Philippines. Actually though,if you have 2 valid passports, you're already dual. Just renew your PH passport

      You can but dual citizenship application in PHL is handled by the Bureau of Immigration, one of the most corrupt government agencies. It can only be done in person at the BI main office in Intramuros. That place is a circus. It is always crowded and you will be approached by 'fixers' who claim to know someone inside who can facilitate. Expect to make 3-4 visits because they will always find something in your documents that needs to be fixed.
      Just do it with the consulate that has jurisdiction over your state. You submit your documents via e-mail. If all your documents are in order, they will set an appointment for you to appear in person at the consulate. The cycle from start to finish takes about a month.

    There are benefits for American citizens vs. Immigrant. You CANNOT get a federal job unless you are an American citizen. It’s ok if you have no desire of working for Uncle Sam! However, it is better to have dual citizenship to avoid red tape headaches! Either country, USA or Philippines…it’s your choice! Just make good and sensible choices. Go to the source and read the policy/guidelines, not rely on others or here say information. Do your own research…

Think about this other scenario and I hope it does not happen to you ..you are accused of a crime when you are in the Philippines the US Consul in Manila can not help you because you are a filipino citizen when you are in the Philippines . The first step is for the parents to file a late report of birth at the PHL consulate that has jurisdiction over the state where you were born. A person cannot report his own birth; it has to be the parents.
      The next step would be to apply for 'Recognition as a Filipino Citizen'. Then you can apply for a PHL passport. If you have heard of the situation for Eugenio Lopez of ABS-CBN, you are in a similar situation. Lopez was born in Boston to Filipino parents and was already considered a dual citizen at birth. He had to apply for Recognition almost 40 years later because he was about to take over as president of ABS-CBN.

      All original documents were returned to me. However, if you are applying by mail, I would send only copies with a note that original will be presented when called in for interview and oath taking. Of course, I would try to get an appoint on the same date if their system will allow it.

    Can you apply for dual citizenship while in the Philippines?

    • @92646snake
      @92646snake 2 года назад

      You can but it depends on your tolerance for pain. Unlike the US where the process is handled by DFA, over there it is handled by the Bureau of Immigration, one of the most corrupt agencies in PHL. It can only be done at the BI Main Office in Intramuros. If you have not been there, the place is a circus. It is always crowded. You will be approached by ‘fixers’ who claim they know somebody inside who can facilitate. They will not tell all at one time, but most of the documents will require to be notarized. If you changed your name during naturalization (from Pedro to Peter or from Juan to John), you will encounter a lot more hurdles. Expect to make at least 5 trips to the BI office and imagine what you have to endure if you are staying outside Metro Manila.
      The fees are actually more expensive. 3,000 PHP at BI versus 50 USD at the consulate.
      If you can afford it, there are accredited law firms who can handle the process for you, for a fee, of course.
      But, why would you want to do it there instead of the easier process at the nearest consulate???

    • @92646snake
      @92646snake 2 года назад

      For that particular situation, the child is already a dual citizen at birth. He is an American citizen because he was born in the US (principle of Jus Soli) and he is also a PHL citizen because his parents were PHL citizens at the time of birth (principle of Jus Sanguinis). The parents should file a Report of Birth at the PHL consulate that has jurisdiction over the state where the birth took place.
      The famous example here is Eugenio 'Gabby' Lopez III of ABS-CBN. Gabby was born in Boston to PHL citizen parents. As his lawyers testified before the House of Representatives in 2020, Gabby was a dual citizen at birth. Unfortunately, his parents did not file a Report of Birth with Consulate in New York. He had to file a Late Report of Birth and request a Recognition as a Filipino Citizen from BI when he took over ABS-CBN in the 1990's.

      @@ceuser3555 since both parents already lost Philippine citizenship, one question is: did the parents report their births to the Philippine consulate? If not they should do it soon. Both parents should prove that the children were born before they were naturalized so the kids can retain their dual citizenship automatically.
      Without the knowledge of the Philippine government that those kids were born before the parents got naturalized, those kids are assumed to be US citizens since they were born in the USA.
      Also I would suggest the parents to get them Philippine passports as well at the time of reporting of births of the children. That will prove that these children are Philippine citizens. But of course those children can also avail of blue passports if they wish to have one.
