    I've been using my foreign passport since I acquired my dual citizenship, I was advised to carry a resised small copy of my proof of resquiring my Filipino citizenship by a immigration officer and hand it to them together with my foreign passport. No need for Philippine passport anymore.

    My spouse is a natural-born Filipino. He gave up his natural Philippine citizenship when he became a naturalized citizen of the U.S. and carries a U.S. passport. two decades later, when both the U.S. and the Philippines started to allow dual-citizenship, he reacquired his birthright Philippine citizenship and now also holds a Philippine passport. When traveling between the U.S. and the Philippines, the immigration officer at NAIA already have in their database that he is a dual citizen and require him to present both passports for entry. Both passports get entry stamped. So, obviously, since the officer knew up front his status, they must miantin a computerized datbase for dual citizens if one of those citizenships is Filipino.

      What if the dual citizen chooses not to acquire or renew their Philippine passport? Will they be asked for additional documentation other than their current passport? Thanks.

    Why anyone knowingly enter the Philippines with their Philippines passport when they have renounced their citizenship and have become a citizen of a foreign country is beyond me That would be considered fraudulent and would be punishable by law. When I reacquired my Filipino citizenship I have to present my US passport and the certificate of reacquisition to the immigration officer in NAIA every time I go back to the Philippines. I also bring my old and expired Philippine passport with me just in case. I plan to obtain a new Philippine passport next time I stay longer in the Philippines that way I will only need to present one thing.

      My wife used her old expired passport with her valid US passport for years. The expired Philippines passport is proof of being a former Filipino and allowed her a Balakbayan stamp to stay for 1 year. That would be why people use them. It's stated right in the rules for a Balakbayan visa can be used as valid proof.

    Atty, your video refers to the OLD passport and NOT to the NEW passport issued by the Philippine Consulate upon obtaining dual citizenship; hence, the NEW passport can be used/ presented upon entry to the Philippines. Please confirm. Thanks.

      That is what he explained, your old passport can still be used but it is fraudulent cause it is considered void upon naturalization from another country and should be returned to the Philippine Consulate, If caught it will be punishable under Ph law.
      You can acquire new Ph passport and be a dual citizen after pledging oath of allegiance in the Ph consulate.

    Thanks for this vital information Atty. Given what sounds to be an intricate procedure, I as a former Filipino citizen now holding a German (European Passport ) am looking at the 13G visa as my best option. Since I shall be returning to the Philippines for good pretty soon. I am right on taking this option? Thanks for your feedback.

    Why is it if you have been naturalized by some other countries and you avail the balikbayan program you still have to show your old passport.

    • @johnpaulcruz9287
      @johnpaulcruz9287 14 часов назад

      To prove that you're a former Filipino so that you can avail of the 1 year stay. Otherwise, your stay is limited to 30 days.

    Do I need to surrender my Philippines passport after my naturalization?

    • @YourLawyer
      @YourLawyer  8 месяцев назад

      There is no law that I know which requires you to surrender your PH Passport, although the Philippine Consulate website says to that effect. However, to my mind, you still need that PH passport as proof of your previous Philippine citizenship for you to avail of the balikbayan privileges when you travel to the Philippines. But in that case, you need to present also your passport issued by the country in which you have been naturalized as your main travel document.
