  • Yamadera (山寺) is a scenic temple located in the mountains northeast of Yamagata City. It's located 20 minutes by train from Yamagata or 60 minutes by train from Sendai.
    Visiting during autumn is perfect, as the autumn leaves are stunning and the climate is ideal for hiking the mountain. Make sure you are visiting this place when you are in the Tohoku region.
