With the Pro Junior, its a no nonsense tube amp that really show if you really know how to use your guitar's volume and tone control like the guitar players from the 50s, 60's and 70s. Yes, before there were master volumes on tube amps. Just crank the amp and use the volume control of your guitar to adjust the overdrive of the amp and use the tone of the guitar to tone in that smooth woman tone. Use the Pro Junior with a Les Paul junior or a guitar with P90's then you got the tone of classic driving Rock and Roll!!!

I have a PJ4. It’s the perfect practice amp. It’s super transparent so all my guitars sound totally different. I’m lucky enough to have a large studio room in my house, so I can turn it up and push it without killing my ears. I’m surprised they’re not more popular. I have several more expensive amps and I use the PJ more than 90% of the time. It’s glorious.

The Blues Jr. really shined when I fed it into a 4x4 cab live. Don’t forget it handles pedals really well, so bring it to a local shop and test some out. Only amp I’ve used a Boss DS-1 on for Tom Petty lead.

So I put my whole rig with pog, ocd, delay etc. through that thing. Holy shit.

The two combined in STEREO from 16:30 on is amazing. CHALLENGE - Find ONE tube amp that sounds that good. Getting back to your post, If I had to pick one amp between the Pro and Blues - it would be the Pro. Much more organic tube tone although maybe noisier at higher volumes. Really enjoyed your post - Thanks and let me know if you take my challenge to find One reasonably priced tube amp that can do it all :). Maybe the Carvin V3 (not the V3-M), or you can never go wrong with the VOX AC30, just their reliability is in question.

I had a 'blues junior III' which I sold to my mate's son years ago, it's still in the studio and he still uses it. I love them both. By the way I chose the iv over the new tweed. Best wishes, Nick

I was soo torn between both of these, it took me a whole week to decided but I just ordered the Pro Jr. Since I have some pedals I didn't think I needed all the bells and whistles from the BluesJr. It seems so simple and will save me some space. I'm happy with my finall decision and waiting for it to get delieved before the end of the week. Can't wait to try it out with my Ibanez Tube Screamer, Boss DS1, Crybaby, Walrus Slo and Boss RC5. Anyone who has a Pro Jr. should do themselves a favor and get the discontinued Eminence blue alnico speaker that they used in the early 90s. Hands down the best speaker you can put in one of these things. Make sure its the one with the paper wound voice coil because the kapton wound ones don't sound nearly as good. Neither do the Jensens.

I'm subscribing to your Channel, It has the info I've been looking for a long time. Your work is awesome, I saw the black and tweed episode and I It must had been difficult to produce. I mean episode 44 is Epic. In that episode I hear the mechanical rattle off the black blues junior with both black and tweed speakers. It's strange because when the black amp is connected to the tweed speaker (outside the black amp) It rattles the same, in that scenario the black amp chassis is supposed to vibrate less. Now I watch this vídeo and I hear rattle in both the blues junior and the pro junior as well. I'm confused. Anyway your channel is the best, you have the best gear to record amps, I can tell because I own a black blues junior and a tweed as well, and they sound in the video very close to my amps in my studio. (Listening through Tannoy monitor speakers). And you get away with RUclips compression! Keep doing videos like this. They are awesome, and forgive me for my bad english, it's not my main language. If you position it just exactly right you can squeeze a 12" Jensen Mod in a Pro Jr.. Of course you have to cut a new baffle. The Pro Jr. is a great little amp as is. But the 12" Jensen Mod turns it into a little beast.

ncoyouth I have a 1965 Blackface 'Princeton Amp', -- not the reverb model. The non reverb Princeton's have a *lot* more head room than the Reverbs due to having only one one preamp tube. I can barely get any breakup even at full volume with my single coil guitars. i think it's probably the exact kind of low watt Blackface clean you want, if you can find one for sale. They seem to be a lot more rare than the Reverbs.

Never cared for the Blues Jr. at all, so my sole purpose here is to see if the Pro Jr IV sounds better. I already have a '68 Custom Princeton Reverb and a kit build of a Custom Deluxe with 3.5 Watt ECC99 power tube output (Tube-Town Emma👍😎). So I feel like I already have Fender tweed and 6V6 tones that blow away than anything I'm hearing here. I'll take a pass on both - neither one really does anything for me. The Pro sounds small, nasal and boxy. YMMV.
