I can assure you a deer is nothing compared to a WHALE, elephant seal, seals, orcas, bears, i would not trade California's amazing wildlife for a tick bitten deer.

Living in Northern California growing up I’d see deer crossings all the time. Leaving in Sacramento now not so much but if you get up to the Tahoe area definitely!
in Houston, not too far from the airport, there's a quiet street with some industries in one side and the woods on the other side. always careful there because i saw 2 deers there at night.
