- I started Inline skating around the age of 14 years old... which is now 30 years ago, I am now 44 years of age. I have always enjoyed the feeling of rolling or sliding, whether it be skateboarding, Inline skating, Mountainboarding, Mountain Biking, Snowboarding and a little surfing, I have enjoyed them all at different times in my life. I am master of none but ok at them all I guess lol ;)
The last inline skates I purchased was 20 years ago when I purchased the amazing (aggressive/street skate) Roces Graal skates from Cheapskates in Manukau City back in 2000.
Since then I have only skated on these skates and they have been the best skates I have ever owned. I still enjoy using them today. But after 20 years of use, they are starting to get worn down in places.. e.g. I am using duck tape to hold the front together. So it's time for an upgrade. I have moved from Auckland to Napier and the skating conditions here are better suited for long-distance skates. There are long concrete paths along the coastline here providing 20+km of non-stop flat smooth concrete spanning from Bay View to Awatoto (which reminds me of skating from Key street to St Helliers along the coast in Auckland).
Most of my vids over the past few years have been focused on my mountain biking experiences.
In this video, I am instead providing a quick overview of my first impressions skating on my new Powerslide Next Core Black 100mm tri-skates. I heat mould the "My-Fit" inner boots too.
I hope this vid is informative and helpful to you.
These are great skates and I look forward to doing lots more inline skating in the future.
It's important for me to do all sorts of sports and activities, from playing music to skating, hiking or mountain biking. No matter what it is, it's all good!
Foot sizing:
My foot size is 27.5cm in length and I normally wear 43UK shoes
but I have quite wide feet, 11cm at the widest part, so I ordered the size up 44-45
I might have been able to squeeze into 42-43 but didn't want to risk it as the last pair I purchased in 42-43 were too small.. 44-45 fits good, I have a little bit of movement within my boot, so on really long trips I usually tape around my ankle or wear two thinner pairs of socks to reduce skin wear and blisters

Just got the Next Core 90s with the 4x90 setup and after my first long distance ride my feet were in pain! After a day or two they’re back to normal. Was around the sides of the arch of the foot. Heat molded once but don’t think I did it well enough. They’re in the oven as I type this now lol. If the heat molding the liners doesn’t do it I’m going to give the actual boot some heat and see if I can make a difference there. Great content man!

I still get a little wear damage to my skin below the ankle on longer trips, so taping my feet before long skates is essential for me in these skates. I forgot to tape my feet the other week and took all the skin off under my ankles on a 30km trip. The 15km return was really brutally painful both feet worn through. But anything under 15km I seam to be sweet as with no issues. Cheers and hope it all works out in the end for you. Nothing like that sweet feeling of rolling on some smooth concrete with skates on. @@8118productions saw another youtuber today saying they removed part of the insole dropping the foot down so the left skate buckle doesn't dig into their foot.
I am thinking of getting the PS Next Charcoal 90, but the sizing is confusing. I normally have shoesize 43 and pretty wide feet. My mondo size is 28mm. They are available in size 42-43 and then 44-45. Why doesn't PS have size 43-44? What do you recommend? Get size 44-45? Afraid that they will be to big after break in. Getting them in size 42-43 will be probably not wide enough for my feet. Will have to order them online. Also not sure to get the 4 x 90 or 3 x 100 setup. Hope you can give some advice! Thanks!
@@NiekkieNick I suggest a little bigger than too small. You can always put two pairs of socks on on tighten them up. Skating in constant pain of being in too small shoes is unescapable and not much you can do with. Regarding wheels, if you want to stand on edges, steps, ramp edges with coping etc.. then go four. But If your just cruising fast around on pretty flat long areas. I really like the three. These ones I feel I can maneuver around very easily on which I like while still being fast and easy to roll over most bumps. So that's my point of view. My feet 27.5cm long and 11cm wide. So 44-45 is probably a good idea for your 28cm long feet. But that just my personal opinion. Hope this helps.
I got troubles opening the upper leash. I can't pull the button to open it up and need to use my key. Any tips / recommendations how it works better? Does anyone has the same problem?
Interesting, no not really, I don't have that issue, I also like to have the top not too tight, firm-loose if that makes any sense.

Thanks for the review and the tricks to make them more comfortable! I'm getting back to blading after 25 years off, and leaning towards getting these, but with the 4x80 frame. Since you've had these for almost a year now, I have a few questions I was hoping you could help with.
You mentioned that you was recommend sizing up from your regular size... after breaking them in for a year, have you found that the liner has loosened up to the point where there's too much room now, or would you still recommend sizing up?
My longest foot is 24.2cm, and the size 39-40 skate would be 24.2-24.8cm. Do you think that would be a good size for me to get? I worry about the skates feeling "sloppy" and lacking control, so I'm always concerned about sizing up.
Lastly, is the interior foot bed of the skate flat with insoles and a shock absorber creating a raised heel, or does the boot it self have a built in raised heel like the Roces M12s? I ask because I would like the option to remove the shock absorbers to make a flatter skate.

Hello, thanks your msg and detailed questions. Welsome back to the sport. You'll love it. I'll be doing an updated vid soon. But here are some answers from perspective.
After a year of use... I don't find them too loose. They actually still feel really good and snug. And I am really happy with the fit, feel and so on... (based on my own experience)
So I still stand by my choice to upsize them.
But hard to say for someone else, everyone has different shaped feet too. Mine are wide.

I skate over a spot were the concrete is really rough and covered in small bumps for a split second. 🤙😊

They look narrow as hell, no way ill fit into those skates
the seperate liners are really forgiving and these shoes are heatmoltable. You might not expect how much forgiving such a liner can become. My liner has a absolutely different shape to how it was in the beginning and I didnt even heatmolt it. I just used them at least about every second day for at least 15 kilometers.
Got them last week, end it up sending it back, they crush my feets very badly, they are very narrow

Kaze is much narrower and the swell extremely much more. The next ist a intermediate skate....
But im still sorry for you because the mess getting a boot in your size is really annoying ...

Hey I'm 75 I skate with 84mm a82 I must try those larger wheels. The problem we have here is lovely new road but messed up with small stones that get caught between the wheels ☺️ but maybe the large ones will do the trick. ( Any tips?)
Just to add , I skate about 7 km every day I live in Thailand and the Thais always laugh at older people doing something unusual , the truth is very few have the guts to try it out. Your skating is great also those power slides . Thanks for the

The Roces Gral skates are something really special alright. I still love them big time and will keep them running as ling as I can. They feel great with the new set of wheels, cheers 🤙😁

How the heck do I lace these? I laced them up all the way and there is literally nothing left to tie it with. You seem to not have laced it all the way up?

I want one for cruising, not looking to a fast start, this will ve my first 100mm, very excited
Then you might go for something different (better fitting, not two size shoes with liner), the Next only really shines if you do more urban/park skating, but even then you might want to consider choosing an actual aggressive skate instead. I have Doop, Next and HC Evo, the Next I use only for the Skatepark and Pumptrack now, something like the Oxelo MF500 or an actual aggressive skate would have done for this scenario as well. If you already bought the Next, make sure to cut the cuff and buy waxed laces, makes all the difference.

Boots feel good now after I heat moulded the inners. But it took a couple weeks to wear tgem in and for the initial bruising to settle down. I think soft shell boots are more comfortable in general for skating, but as far as hard shell boots go, these are pretty good sweet

Thanks. I normally wear size 43UK size shoes so I got the 44/45 or 10.5-11US boot.size which worked out perfect after heat moulding. My foot is exactly 27.5cm long, Hope this helps

How long can you coast on these without them stopping? Looking for something to cruise in..
My normal trips are 15-25km 25 takes me 1hr, my longest trip 40km just under 2hrs. If you were mean coasting as in how far a go per push off. I'm not sure, but quite a few meters, they roll and coast along really well and its extra good with a bit of windpower behind you, I think they are lovely wheels and bearings to cruze on.

But looking back, I kinda wish I had lol. I used to do competition speed skating and free skating around Madrid (Spain) in the early 90s. This was all on quad skates. Best time of my life. I was still skating occasionally on my custom-made skates from that era but I lost a wheel in a parking lot when I removed a nut from a skate to repair my car. I had been stalling on buying new wheels for my old skates and I just wasn't into inline skates until I discovered that 100mm tri skates existed. After much online investigation, I reached the conclusion that these are the best bang-for-buck skates that exist. So... I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my new Powerslide Next Core Black 100mm Inline Skates on Monday to skate around the coast of Galicia and Portugal 😁Thanks for listening to my old man rambling y'all!

What’s the hardest thing about roller blading?
Depends on your skill set and how far you are on the learning journey I guess. For a beginner probably finding good balance, stopping safely and tackling terrain changes safely under speed. For me personally technical rails and flip tricks. But these days I just like to cruze and go fast and leave the tricks alone.

as already mentioned, it depends so much on your history. Have you ever skated (for example on ice, or did you ski?) What are your goals. For standard driving I'd say, some grounds are really difficult especially cobblestone and as always. Breaking is so much important but one of the skills which need the most training....
If we are talking about aggressive skating, breaking might be the easiest thing compared to other skills....
Could i go for 2 hour trips on these ??
Yes, I did a 40km skate which took me 2 hours... but taping or strapping you feet before starting your skate would be highly recommended to avoid skin wear and blisters etc.. cheers 👍😁

I can recommend them a lot. Powerslide offers even different tipes to for example to fix ancle pain or offer more heel lock....
But if the boot fits well i would just wearl the standard footie. (Footie and thin socks) are my way to go.

Mine are 100mm. They were sold out of 110mm so i went for 100mm.
I just think it is really not cool that you have to heatmold something that pricy.
I agree, I never had these issues with past skates, but I do a lot more distance with these bigger wheels so that might also be a factoring reason. Taping my feet before long skates seams to have sorted my skin wear issue. Cheers 😊🤙
