      @@davidhutson2846 I usually think of "greatest shooter" as a player averaging 48-50% FG, 40-45% 3FG, and being .500 or higher in the clutch that includes buzzer beaters for a majority of his career. Steph fits all but the latter... had he made a majority of his buzzer beating 3's to actually WIN games even in the playoffs and Finals, then yeah many people can say that about Steph. But then again, there were a million players that played in the NBA who were fantastic shooters. So yeah "greatest shooter" is without question debatable.

Jordan was better at every other type of shot and his FG % didn't fall off in the Finals like those guys while his 3pt % even went up and had rhe record for Most 3s in a half if a Finals game until Curry FINALLY tied that in his 6th Finals. Curry also went 0-9 from 3 in a Finals game. Jordan never went 0-9 from anywhere. Finals 3pt %: Jordan 37%, Curry 39%. When the star is on a rookie contract, they fill out the roster with talent so have few close games...
      But when the star is on a max contract, he ACTUALLY has to carry... and often comes up short.
      Running off screens is easy... IT4 did that in BOS and averaged 30ppg.

  • @newbasketballfan
    @newbasketballfan 2 месяца назад +2

    Rob has never liked Steph so I don't really take his opinions on him seriously, but that 0-14 stat is ridiculous. The exact stat is 0-14 on **go ahead shots with 50 or less seconds left**. Would it be better if he made some of them? Of course. But he's made plenty of game tying shots in that time, including multiple with less than 10 seconds left, and he's made go ahead shots with less than a minute left. This stat is something people hear and bring out when it's time to slander but they forget to actually remember the stat. That's why I've never liked stats like this, people fixate on them and twist them to fit their narrative. And let's not pretend that a big shot can only be hit in the last 50 seconds. An example of a shot that was hit outside of that time frame - Kyrie's 3 in game 7. I bet Rob thinks that's a big enough shot. Listening to these arguments you'd think Steph was just doing cardio and accidently found himself with 4 rings.

If he’s not clutch or not the greatest shooter ever, how does he have all those numbers to his name? Rob GOTTA be asking himself that question in the end to prove he’s NOT the goat shooter. Basing it off a 0-14 FG in the last 50 secs in the playoffs means almost nothing when he has unbreakable shooting records. 4,000+ total 3s including playoffs w/ an INSANE amount of 10+ 3Pt games

    The greatest shooter in the world doesn't mean a person making a shot in the final few seconds. That is two different arguments. If thats the case Robert Horry is the greatest shooter in the world cuz his clutch shots were 3s. Steve Kerr helped the bulls. Nash with the suns, Ray Allen helped save Lebrons legacy. Like come on. everyone tips their hats to Steph. Including those guys so what's to debate about. And for real for real, whose pre game regime is putting up shots for the tunnel or stands. How can you have a debate about him being the greatest. For 2 reasons, he is shooting the most for volume as well as shooting at the top for percentage. Clutch is a different category but he is underrated as a clutch shooter although you can say Bird or MJ would be considered better but that could be because those two had very iconic moments with their clutch shots. This could also be because the entire world was watching those moments and today it is so much less.

  • @ant4613
    @ant4613 2 месяца назад

    Even if you'd rather have other players take a shot in the final seconds of the game, that doesn't them the greatest shooter of all time. Ray Allen is genuinely one of my favorite players of all time and when Steph was on the come up, I was like damn this kid's really gonna be the one to overtake him as the greatest 3 point shooter of all time... I didn't know Steph would become what he has become, and change the entire sport, but I knew it from very early on. It just is what it is. Rob is right in theory, you can debate anything that isn't a fact, but you're not going to have a good enough argument to actually win a debate. Everyone knows it's Steph.

    "I didn't really know about it until somebody told me" - Larry Bird on being the first player to average 50-40-90
    Dirk Nowitzki, Reggie Miller, Mark Price, Kevin Durant and Steph Curry are members of the club, but the first player to join it was Larry Bird
    The Curry avalanche in under a minute… he is the fastest scorer in NBA history… quickest release, shoot over long defenders as well…
    Stephen Curry is the only NBA player to average over five made 3-pointers per game for an entire season.
    He is also the first player to average 40 points per game on 50 percent shooting through 10 games in a month since the great Wilt Chamberlain hit those thresholds in March 1963.
    Steph (1) of ONLY three players in NBA history to average 25pts. 5rebs. and 5asst. on 55% shooting

Now where it gets dicey is Bird, Miller, Ray Allen etc.. didn’t practice and weren’t allowed to jack up a thousand three’s a game. So with that being said I’m sure those guys weren’t practicing three’s anywhere near curry. If the era was diff then who knows cuz those guys lit it up without trying

    There are players with better 3 point % than Curry and if they shot as much as he did they'd probably have just as strong offensive numbers if not better than Curry. Its just that they played in a tougher defensive era than Curry. Curry's game would not be the same in the 90s early 2000s.
