Human beings move all the time & is not unique to Nigerians. Within USA people move from one state or city to the other. People move for different reasons & most of the Nigerians who moved to uk in the last 3 years went there on a study visa which doesn’t provide the same sort of options as a citizen or ILR holder. At the end of their program some will move back if they’ve got no pathway. Others will return to Nigeria for business , job opportunities or family reasons. Some will stay. Everyone will do what is in their interest.

I like that you covered these points. Some of these new japa people don’t know that it takes many years to settle in a new country, and the word SETTLE has levels.
Some who came in recently with work related visa (care work) are even lucky that they can come here legally and start working straight away. They’re stuck with the care work for 5 years, like they didn’t know the visa is for care work ONLY.
The issue is that those jobs are low paying non-professional jobs….and they have many bills to pay for normal living. The issue I have with Nigerians is that THEY WANT TO BECOME OVERNIGHT SUCCESS within 1 to 2 years of getting abroad. Even with a uk masters degree and 2 years post study work permit, you still have a long way to go….but that’s life, you have to progress gradually.

OMO, IF EVERYONE IS ADVISING TO JAPA, THEN WHO WILL FIX NAIJA. SOMETIMES, WHEN I LISTEN TO SOME BLACK FOLKS, I HEAR "CONQUERED". YES, SOME ARE ABROAD AND SOME WILL STILL JAPA BUT THAT SHOULD NOT STOP US FROM ADVOCATING ON WHAT WILL FIX NAIAJ. AS A MATTER OF FACTS, WE SHOULD HAVE TOPICS OF DISCUSSIONS TO BE HOW TO FIX NIGERIA FROM THE GRASSROOTS, BECAUSE AS IT STANDS, OUR LEADERS ARE NOT READY TO HAVE SENSE. WHAT WE NEED NOW IS HOW TO RE-ORIENTATE THE YOUTH AND SEE HOW WE CAN TAKE NIGEIRA BACK FROM THOSE HOOLIGANS CALLED POLITICIANS.

Most people migrate out of Nigeria, not because they don't like or love Nigeria, some are leaving out of the country for the most simple things of basic everyday life needs like, security, good hospitals, good drive-able roads, Electric power, daily meal, good schools for their children. Every body can't reside in Banana Island. All listed shouldn't be difficult in a working country, and with all the natural resources the land is blessed with....

Here is some advice for those who are willing to listen. If you believe that your success is contingent upon traveling abroad, do not be discouraged by the naysayers. Make your decision, pack your bags, and go. Dont mind the content creators who make money from Nigerians' ignorance. Work diligently, pray, open up your eyes and brains, and ensure you understand your actions and goals. Do not compare your journey to anyone else’s. In five years, with perseverance and effort, I promise you, your life will transform for the better, and you will be grateful. We all have been there. Today, we can only return all glory to God. Conversely, spending ten years in Nigeria with the same level of effort may result in stagnation or even regression considering the state of that country. Open your ears! Remember, determination, integrity, and resilience are key. Dont let anyone stop you, take your chance abroad, and you will succeed.

This my 14th year in one European country. I came here at 23. I did BSc, MSc, and I am now in the final year PhD here. Guess what, I got my first internship in this country last year. Let me also let you know that I am not as intelligent as Albert Einstein but I am definitely not dumb. In short, when I first came to this country, I went to see one of my teachers in his office (oyinbo), as I turned back to leave, he called me and said, he just want to tell me that where I will get to in life in terms of success, no other naija at my school then will be able to get close. But here I am, it has been massive struggle....where I did internship, it was glaring that I am more skilled than ppu who say they have 12 years of experience, despite the fact that I did not get a single opportunity in the country for almost 13 years. Also, the project I did for them did not even use 10% of my brain. You see, many of our naija ppu here advised me not to go back and they kept telling me of how Naija is the worst thing that has ever happened to humanity. I later noticed many of those ppu have low IQ and are also jealous of my drive...they kept telling me like how can you not like cleaning jobs and be thankful for government benefit. Those are people with parasitic mentality. How can I be at rest when I am not able to fully express my existence through what God deposited in me, because of the kind of environment I am in. Obviously they are comfortable with that lifestyle because they have nothing in them. Bear in mind, none of them has put in effort into academics the way I have done. I have worked so hard in the last 14 years (the days of cleaning and factory jobs that only give you body ache and no money to save after bills, despite being single; also studying day and night) that it is now telling on my body. So, I get what Daddy Freeze is saying...abroad is not for everyone. There is a path God laid out for each person when He created us, this include places we need to be to thrive. My youth gone like that with no progress but I have faith in Joel 2:25. The experience got me closer to God. God is giving me hope now. See, if you go to Europe with hustling mentality, which means you are not intelligent and you don't put in effort to build yourself, you will say abroad is good if you are doing two full time cleaning jobs but if you are truly intelligent, na then you go know Europeans very well because the jobs you are capable of doing are only meant for white people and few black people who can kiss ass. Even if you kiss ass very well and you get the career from them, go and watch very well, your growth will be limited EXCEPT if they have a product they want to use you get into the African market. Gosh! one cannot have aspirations but just wait for left overs...one cannot grab life by it balls and say this is what I want from you...This is what I have observed and experienced in Europe.

To be more fair, you should be interviewing/hearing from people who have SETTLED status in the foreign countries they are in. Not students who just travelled for school and expecting high paying minimum wage jobs (those two cannot even be mentioned in the same sentence). You need a good few years to settle when you finish university. It is the same as traveling abroad as a student you have 18months minimum to complete study, another 1 year to get a 'decent' job. thereafter, you start climbing the ladder, just like when you finished school. Success is a journey not a sprint.

How the anchor tries for force his narrative n mindset on others, is amazing. If we go by your opinion that only Banana island is living well ..then you DF is definitely not living well in NG. You cant determine what living well is to any human. You prefer to live in NG..so be it! Leave others who think otherwise based on thier own perception. You cant force it of convince anyone. And the lady who called shouldnt have allowed DF's innuendos overshadow her point. Her friends who called here were right to say she shouldnt come here to twek to DF's antics just to be seen as correct. No matter what DF says or feels, many... multitudes of veey comfortable Nigerians will continue to make that japa choice on their own volition. If the basis for their choice pains DF..that's his cup of it. Stop this pointless agenda of yours. It sucks!

Daddy Freeze, please can you explore the topic of why is it that 98% of those japaing are from Southern Nigeria. I have been in the USA for 27 years now (living in one of the NE states) and I have never met any Northerner living here and hustling, but I have met a few of Northerner come to study and went back to Nigeria. Why is this?

Because you southerners have what is known as ojúkòkòrò (lack of contentment) and your greed and showmanship of bigmanism is second to none. This evil syndrome is embedded in our cultures. In fact, in plain language, it shares name with that popular small generator : "I better pass my neighbor" syndrome.
Even in churches, it is part of your prayers to always better pass your siblings so they can come bow before you.
Greedy wicked generation😂😂... And that's why the forces of life are teaching some of these greedy and established folks sense when they get to abroad, like an adage, "all the work wey man pikin don use twenty years gather, na just one day devil go comot am from hin hand" 😂... Reason some spent 30,35,45 million for japa and everything crumble, blown away by the wind because they wanna live a life of illusion where they think they are going to enjoy in paradise for oyinbo land.
Fact: no be every destiny dey blossom for foreign land.

My dear brother on your question why there are few Northeners japaing? I will try within my limited knowledge of staying and working in almost 19 states of the North for 20 years to provide answer due to the following reasons:
      1. A typical Northerner is not crazy about moving outside their local areas especially outside his socio religious culture, so moving to US Europe or other western countries is not their fancy
      2. When a Northerner goes abroad to study he is willing to come back because he has higher probability of getting a better job position and put in place of authority because only few have such privileges unlike his or her southern counterparts.
      3. Staying abroad is not really celebrated and not a huge achievements in the North but that does not mean they will not respect somebody who has made impact abroad but not a struggling chap who no matter his status abroad is looked as 'big' guy in the south.
4.A typical Northerner is not crazy to display wealth and class symbol as typical of southerners which propel many to Japa and 'show' them
      5. My fifth respond, this is a bit difficult to explain for it's spiritual but nothing happen in the physical that has not been concluded in the spirit. The victims of slave trade are mostly the southerners to be specific the Yorubas and the Igbos. God in His infinite mercy and justice has a pay back template, most people are getting to these countries to get back the sweat of their great great grand parents robbed through slavery however there's another problem here most people whom God takes to these countries had forgotten that God want them to repatriate this wealth back to Africa for development otherwise they raise future generations of slave in these foreign lands.
I hope I am able to get you a glimpse of your question.
      God bless you.

The politicians allow them to do this and the people allow the politicians to do this so the Nigerians who are in Nigeria now have to hold the politicians accountable or take vigilante action and run these foreigners out of the country.

The disadvantage of an older person emigrating is only the factor of collecting pension at 60 and above. If you have a pension for retirement fund then you will not be at a disadvantage. If you have to build from the start then you will be at a disadvantage and may not qualify for the state pension because you have not lived or worked in the country for long enough. Anyone who is self sufficient will know how to hustle for themselves and will have saved enough income to cater for themselves. I am so much against people using your age as a factor to limit your chances and potential .

That's the truth, when you are stable back home, then there's no need coming abroad because you are going to start from the scratch, and to become stable here it takes awhile, at least 5 years to 8 years, and even you certificate is not recognize here, you have to go to school again or learn a skill nor up grade your skill, which is called refresher courses.
If you are busy back home and you can pay your bills, and give help to some people, infact, if you are not struggling back home, please don't move abroad.

You can have all the Masters and PHds all you want, if you don't get sponsorship at the end of your study, you have choices; stay back illegally and enjoy the negative consequences or pack your bags and head home. UK has made immigration and getting permanent residency extremely hard and people who went for Masters/phd dont have much choices as per staying back.
