The larger fossil found in this video was a chunk of ammonite with suture patterns. The lines are formed at the intersection of the outer shell wall and the septa. We have longer RUclips videos, I go fossil hunting a lot at low tide in the Winter. ruclips.net/video/WFwhRqpgK_o/видео.html click the link to see our fossil hunting video thanks 🙏
Thanks 🙏 very much for your comments, it is a real rugged and wild part of the world. It’s been subject to a lot of movement like landslides and mudslips and remains untouched for building on because of the landscapes dynamic nature!
@@youllthankmelaterthe Charmouth Heritage Centre is at the car park at the sea front there. They could tell you which beach is best currently in that area at low tide. Look out for the dangerous cliffs that are liable to fall suddenly and without warning ⚠️. I have a good “old” video on RUclips called “ Ammonite Lyme Regis,” that really shows you how to look for the Iron Pyrite ammonites on the beach -at low tide!
Beautiful weather, wonderful beach, super specimens and perfect video. In the New Year I wish you much health and only beautiful days at the beach. I wish you to find only beautiful specimens on the Juraisic Coast. Greetings from Poland 😍👋
Thanks 🙏 for all the comments. All the best to you for 2023. Greetings 🖖 from the Jurassic Coast, I hope 🤞 I find some more good fossils to show you 🙌!
The sutures on that first ammonite piece you found are simply amazing, and that last rock you split is wonderful! I never ventured past the Ammonite Pavement before, but on my next trip I'm definitely going to Pinhay Bay after seeing your videos. Do you ever go to Stonebarrow? I found some nice things there but they are so hard to clean!
Thanks 🙏 yes I do go to Stonebarrow a bit . I used to be there a lot at low tide when I was a lot younger. The fossil collecting around past the ammonite pavement can be good on the point there . There is quite a lot of iron pyrite there . The pyrite has some Promicroceras sp. ammonites in it . I’ve found some good vertebrae there as well ichthyosaur and plesiosaur
Hi, i visted you shop today, thanks so much for all your help had a great day found some cool bits including very golden looking iron pirite chunk of ammonite. Thanks jake. ( flint echinoid fossil guy) be back v soon maybe do guided tour.
You are so welcome!🙏 it was good to see your beautiful sea urchin find in flint on a photograph ! It was an astonishing gardening find . I forget to say I do gardening here at Lyme Regis and have an allotment, which is all good fun !
i found this smooth stone one time i was in a forrest but im not sure if it has a fossil in it ill try to give details colour: greyish brown shape: its like an triangle but with a few curves
Muy interesante lugar. I like much me. Te felicito por tus vídeos. Espero alguna fecha para visitar tal lugar y ayudarte a colectar fósiles extraordinarios.
Myself and partner are going to Lyme Regis in September and planning on trying to find our own fossils. We have a tide table from a previous visit for the current year but was wondering what kind of tide height would you say is suitable to go exploring during which would give us the best chance of finding some fossils?
September can be a good time of year to find fossils along the Jurassic Coast- at low tide. It’s best fossil hunting an hour before low tide and an hour afterwards. Beware of the dangerous cliffs that are liable to fall suddenly and without warning. I’m in my shop in September, so I will have an idea of the prevailing weather conditions and state of the beach.
@@LymeRegisFossils We will definitely come and visit you in your shop! We are spending Monday to Friday in Lyme Regis for my birthday. I am autistic and fossils are one of my special interests so would be super excited to see if I could find my own special memories to take home with me from our trip😊 I had a look at your website and saw that you’ll be doing walks again. How much do the fossil walks cost (not the private ones) and what kind of dates? Would be super cool to have this experience.
I use a sieve and a small plastic shovel at this time of year fossil hunting. I get a bucket 🪣 of sea 🌊 water like a trug bucket and sieve through the iron pyrite patches on the beach for finds - at low tide.
@@PhantomOcean250I was in my shop in Lyme Regis during the fossil festival ! It was a busy show I was told and down there Zoic were showing there Preparation tools for fossils. It was said they were good and had a lot of different tools for the job. Zoic are online and I haven’t had a chance to look right through their stuff yet.
It was a lovely sunny day along the beach so I got the camera out to film 🎥- all filmed as I went along on my daily search 👀 for fossils . My short videos get 10 million views some of them so they must be better liked 🙌
Thanks we are lucky to be able to fossil hunt on the beaches of Lyme Regis - at low tide! The sea does the work for you washing the fossils out of the mudslides- and onto the beaches! There is a fossil collecting code in operation along the Jurassic Coast.

Thank you for the tips. We had a family holiday near Charmouth, very successful fossil hunting. Lots of pyrite ammonites. Very happy kids thank you
Thank you 🙏 for your comments, I’m glad you had a good fossil hunting trip
We are going shortly. At Charmouth, which direction did you walk?

I visited Lyme last week but would like to head back just to photograph the region and any fossils would be a bonus. Lovely scenery..
There are some great sunrise 🌅 photos to be had at Lyme Regis . The town is very beautiful anyway !

Why do you sound so bitchy for a guy? This man made a nice video with plenty of tips. Grow up.
