    I know this video is three years old but i wanted to review before i cleaned my system. Always enjoy your vids. I installed a Water Softener for my coach and wanted to totally clean the systems first. This included replacing all of my inline filters

    Good video but a couple of important misses I think -
    It's important that all water filters, if installed, should all be removed before running bleach through the system. This includes refrigerator filter and canister type filters. They can be saved somewhere clean (I use plastic bags) if they have life remaining. Also, you need to turn on hot and cold sides of the faucets separately so that hot water lines (except for the water heater) are also sanitized. Keep up the good stuff you do.

      good point, how often do you change water filters Gary? I guess it depends on how much you use it. We only camp about 45 days per year. in our Super C.

    If I may, there is an even easier way. Pour the 1.25 cups of bleach directly into your water hose. Hook-up the hose and fill your fresh tank as normal. Then you can resume your great instructions. :)
    PS: Be sure to remove any house water filters before running the bleach through your system.

      JDPEagle yes that will work also!! Thanks for the advice and watching the video.

      yes - Its much easier and also sanitizes your hose which most likely can get funkier then your holding tank.......another way is to dump it into your coach filter housing if so equipped but i like going through the fill hose myself.....

    Excellent idea! We'd have to do this when we lived in NC. If any water was left in the rig for much longer than a month, it would have some bacteria growth and eventually smell like rotten eggs.

    Thank you Izzy and MJ for showing this video I found of a year ago it says. Izzy is cleaning the hot water tanks with bleach. I did t didn’t know how you do it and if it needed to be done. But it’s good to know. It’s complicated but easy to do at the same time. I saw your toilet I think Matt would give it the 4 Ps. Lol. Just kidding. Thank you for the great video now I’m going to go watch another video if yours I found. See you soon!

      Hi Sherri,
      We do not put bleach in the hot water heat. At 5:38 of the video I mention to make sure to close valve going to the hot water tank prior to running bleach solution through the lines. Hope the rest of the video helps you out. Thanks for watching.

    Great idea about driving with the solution. In past RV’s, we bought used, I was able to access the tanks, so I cut a hole in the top and put in a waterproof deck lid you could screw open. Everyone had mold growing on the inside tops. It appeared the rest of the tank was clean, but the tops were black. I’d also suggest that the more your rig sits the more often it should be sanitized, especially in warmer weather. I’m still wondering if it’s better to let the sit full or empty tanks......I think full as the inside has less surface area on which to grow mold. Then, next question, should you sanitize your water hose?

      Good idea. Sanitizing a water hose is also a good idea. Thanks for watching and the comment

    Great vid!
    I have heard of people putting a couple of litres of lemon cordial into their tank after flushing with bleach.
    It helps mask any initial residual bleach taste that may be left until you fill the tank a few times.
    I think that it sounds plausible?
    What are your thoughts?

      Not sure I would want to mask bleach taste. I would rather flush the system until the bleach is completely gone. Thanks for watching and the comment

    Will the bleach do any damage to any seals, etc., with repeated use? Thank you for the clear instructions.

    • @EndlessRVing
      @EndlessRVing  3 года назад +1

      It’s heavily diluted so it’s relatively safe to use. Thanks for watching.

    I don't usually turn my ice maker on when there is bleach solution in my tank. How many cycles of ice do you have to have to throw out before your lines are clear and you're no longer making bleachy-ice?

    • @EndlessRVing
      @EndlessRVing  4 года назад

      Its a few cycles. That is really the only way to get that line. Same goes for winterizing. There should be pink liquid coming out the ice maker otherwise you are risking an issue. It’s not a big deal for us the ice maker worked very quickly.
      Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.

    I noticed you only turned on cold water and not both cold/hot to get bleach in both lines of outside sink.

    I guess I can add bleach as one more reason that I won't be drinking water from an RV tank.
    1. Propylene glycol
    2. Algae
    3. Bad water fillup
    4. Bleach
    5. I keep 12 gallons of drinking/ cooking in separate jugs.

    • @EndlessRVing
      @EndlessRVing  4 года назад

      We don’t drink the water from our tanks or city for several reasons mainly that we don’t know much about campground water. As for the bleach, the water would be safe for consumptions once you flush the system. The bleach acts to kill algae, mold, bacteria, etc. Regular sanitizing of the system is essential.

    What if you live in your RV?

  • @horizon42q
    @horizon42q 3 года назад +2

    That is not being sucked into your fresh water tank, when you winterize you suck into you lines only

    • @EndlessRVing
      @EndlessRVing  3 года назад

      The video was about sanitizing the fresh water system so you would need to fill the tank in addition rom your lines. Thanks for watching.
