- In 2022 I invited my good friend Guido Richard to spend two weeks together in the Soča Valley. Since my family is from Slovenia and my dad builded a little house there, I have a long connection with this country and place. Eventhough the Soča valley is very renown for its flyfishing I never got in touch with this type of fishing. Guido is one of the best flyfishers I know and has a long history behind it, with participating in world championships or long trips to Newseeland and many other places. It was clear to the both of us that it was long overdo to spend some time flyfishing in slovenia together.

Scenery is wonderful
However the main waters are full of stocked fish...
I am so sad that in those rivers there are no graylings anymore and all the fishs are comming from fisheries. It is still beautiful but something has changed........
Agree, i don't want to catch fish back that were stocked
What i find even sadder is that 80% of the fish they caught were rainbow trout, even though the soca system is one of the very few rivers where the marble trout is native. It should be forbidden to stock non native fish in such a river in my opinion. Nevertheless great Video!
Without stocked rainbows the fishing tourism would plummet causing damage to the regional economy

Belles images, belle rivière. Mais il est tellement dommage que l'on y pratique encore l'empoissonnement artificiel, notamment en truites arc en ciel (rainbow trouts). J'habite en France mais je ne le déplacerai jamais vers une telle rivière pour y pêcher de tels poissons (surtout avec ces tarifs exhorbitants) même s'il subsiste quelques marmoratas. D'autres pays d'Europe ont compris la nécessité de préserver les poissons sauvages.
Natural but so artificial… sadly stocked fish everywhere on the soca, and fishing card astonishingly expensive !
At 80 euros per day for a fishing permit I won't set foot there.
