When Made in Japan is written on a guitar or bass, I can pick it up off the shelf and take it to a gig right away. I've never been proven wrong trusting Japanese masters.
This was amazing to watch. I have been a fan of Japanese guitars since Ibanez were made in Fijigen in the 80's. Then they switched to Indonesia. Some ok but could not compare to Japanese. I hope guitars will always be made in Japan.
Bassically U got what u paid.. Ibanez corporation apparently believe that Indonesian luthier can do their job, And they're doin it great for producing premium series.. If u have enough money just go to Japan prestige series one

Hoshino-Gakki, or rather their subsidiary Hoshino USA (the actual company, Ibanez is just a brand they own, which they named after Salvador Ibáñez who was a well-known Spanish Luthier whose guitars were imported to Japan from Spain by Hoshino-Gakki in the 1930s) would rather you buy a Premium than a Prestige because they make a greater profit from the Premium made at the Cor-Tek factory than a Prestige made at FujiGen because of the difference in labor costs. Premiums are... okay. My old roommate used to go through at least a couple of Premiums a year (he played in a metal band). Used to complain that they fell apart on him after a few months. Finally bit the bullet and plonked down money for a Prestige, and that held up to his hard playing. My experience was similar, but more because the QC on the Iron Labels at the time were terrible. Bought a used Prestige over a new Premium, no problems since.

I learned that the true master carpenters left no trace, I'm still deeply respectful for their dedication and commitment, Thanks again,

Really great craftsmanship you exhibit --I made my Strat body 20 yrs ago --from gorgeous grained African Teak --3 pieces --using a simple fret saw and sandpaper--no fancy machines like you have -(-router milling machine /bandsaw /planer) living in the bush one does improvise --takes great skill to get good results !
I watch this video after finishing watching Gibson USA factory tour. Huge different. Here everything is done manually by a few luthiers, while Gibson combine men and machines to do its job.
I can see who is the master from the dirt build up under his nails. Now I really want to get the Combat guitars : ) Awesome work sir, thank for sharing!

Combat have some fantastic guitar for sure, it should come as no surprise to anybody that the Japanese are absolute masters of woodworking and have been for centuries. My first great guitar was a 1979 Tokai Springy Sound "Strat". I wish I still had it but i have an ESP made Seymour Duncan DS-185 copy of a '56 Strat, great guitar.
Those older Tokais are fairly pricey today if you can find one for sale. I remember seeing blues great, Duke Robilard, playing a Tokai strat once. Great guitars!
@brucecaldwell6701 You can find them if you look, no problem and they're priced for about the same as a Fender AVRI and I would much rather have the Tokai Springy Sound. There's some great sleeper guitars and amps out of Italy from the 60's. Guitars by Galanti and Meazzi are fantastic, some of the amps are amazing too and Meazzi make the greatest tape echo ever IMHO.
These small Japanese outfits have a much better selection of quality wood. To be fair there are some amazing US builders who can achieve the same results. G-7 build incredible 'les pauls" with all correct era woods, much better than the murphy lab could ever do because of US restrictions.
wooden electric guitars will be displayed in museums. Take my word, I would give mine for one made of vegetals or whatever eco friendly material available. Great work anyways

15年程前ですが、楽器屋さんの企画で工房にお邪魔したことがありました。
当時とは変わっちゃってるかもしれませんが、ものすごく小さな工房でしたね。

only the cheaper Ibanez are made in Indonesia. They still make the more expensive ones at Fujigen

@@Kuni-tz2ic 荒加工はフリーハンドで行うにしても寸法がシビアな箇所はトリマーでテンプレートに沿って加工じゃないかなーと…もしくは厚み出し後からプログラミングでCNC加工ですかねー。ネックポケットの加工は本当にびっくりしました。
ザグリ等で使用しているのはピンルーターという機械で、裏側にテンプレートを貼ってテンプレートに沿って切削をしてます。簡単そうですが刃が剥き出しなので、1つ間違えれば指くらい簡単に飛んでいきます。

10年以上前にテレキャスターを作っていただきました。作業場に入りネックの太さを確認させてもらいとても素晴らしい1本ができあがり、とても感激した記憶があります。諸事情により手放してしまい、数年前からそのギターが市場に出回らないか探していますが未だ見当たりません。超軽いアッシュボディ、細くて握りやすいネック、素晴らしいものでした。コンバットさんのギター、確かに高価になりますが自分のギターをオートメーションではない手作業で作っていただき、途中仕上がりを確認させていただけるほどの丁寧さは値段以上のものになるでしょう。たぶん、ギターの基礎がしっかりしていて、カバー曲だけじゃなくて独自のフレーズで楽しめる技術のあるギタリストの方でしたら一生もののギターになるでしょう。私は人のカバーしかできず、ギターを一人では楽しめない未熟者ですから素晴らしいギターを手放すという愚かなことをしてしまいました。悔いています。
