Sure! Glycerin is a humectant which means it draws moisture from the air to hydrate. Depending on the amount of humidity in the air or depending on the dew point level, the moisture level in the air may be lacking. Especially in drier climates/ winter weather...so the glycerin tends to "pull" from whatever moisture is in your hair and can make your hair feel hard or dry.
This product is definitely a staple for me! Especially when you mentioned your shrinkage (usually I like doing a shrunken twist out for a more TWA look) but if I spray this on my twist at night and let them dry (while also using the curl enhancing smoothie) my curls are shinier, more defined, and I have less frizz. And it works on locs too! My mom loves to use this on her locs to give them more shine and moisture! I absolutely love this product 10/10 for me!
Hi! Yes the mist is like a sheen, but for my hair, it's way more moisturizing than the old "oil sheen" from the can. Lol I really wasn't expecting to like this product as much as I do but I really love it :) I think it's a very versatile product. I hope it works well for your hair :) Thanks for watching!
I will be posting updated cowashing and detangling videos this weekend that shows how I have been moisturizing my hair:) Giving up shampoo has seriously helped my fro retain moisture a lot better. It took my hair and scalp about a month to get used to it though.... I use the shea moisture mist to refresh my hair, and whenever I want extra softness for styling:) It does make my full shrinkage feel a LOT better lol....my hair always feels the driest when I allow it to fully shrink :)
Thanks! I usually use olive oil, avocado butter, tresemme and aloe vera gel for hold and definition. (I'm experimenting with other conditioners to use as my leave in though lol
I'm not sure how close to your hair you sprayed it, maybe try spraying it further out maybe like 10 to 12 inches away from your hair so the mist won't be as concentrated :) hopefully that helps!
As soon as I saw your smile and you started talking, I immediately clicked subscribe. You're so charismatic. I'd listen to you talk about anything lol. Besides that, this video was informative. Thanks!
Hi! My hair went through MAJOR dry stage the 1st month big chopped. I started doing the curly girl method with cowashing only to see if it would help me out and it has :) I cowash 2-3 times a week depending on the weather and I moisturize usually only my wash days. I also use a version of the LOC method... water, olive oil, avocado butter(found on ebay or amazon), and a conditioner to leave in :D
It wasn't confusing at all. I really appreciate the response. Well that explains why my hair has been feeling rough lately . By the way I love your Chanel .
I love the coconut and hibiscus line. I don't have a tight coil pattern. Actually my hair is a loose wave and a nice curl at the ends, the same its been for years. Love the light weight feel and that it doesnt leave a stain in the back of my work clothes lol. I wash and condition my hair with loreal damage repair line (black and yellow) bottle....then I spray this on, pineapple my hair into two sections, in the morning my hair is just how I want it, full of life lol
Hi! This spray is just an extra boost of moisture :) I really like it! I use this spray on my twists to add some extra shine and slight hold. I also use it when I want my hair to plump into an afro because since the spray is water based it causes some shrinkage lol. In my recent hairstyle videos I use it to help loosen my hair for styling :) I hope this helps!
I was shocked that I liked this product soo much lol. It's always there sitting on thr shelves fully stocked lol. But my hair really likes it! It's nice to just mist and go instead of trying to work a lotiony moisturizer through your hair all the time :)
thanks for this great review, i have a habit of purchasing items and THEN looking for reviews lol i used it earlier today and i am truly satisfied! thanks so much for the great review!
I feel the same way you do about the mist. I shaved my head bald on Christmas 2014 and I use this for an everday mostruizer. And it gives a non-greasy shine all over my head. And I use it on all my kids hair as well.
Shea moisture has me sold now. I'm totally hooked. I think the African Black Soap line is my favorite. Thanks for all of these SM reviews, your vids made me want to try them
Hey! You may want to look into your nutrition, and exercise :) it can help with growth. Also medications may affect your hair growth. Try oils that stimulate blood flow and detoxify like castor, tea tree, rosemary, and peppermint oil, (there are many others too lol) Overall, try not to worry soo much about length and just try to focus on keeping your hair healthy :) Make sure it is moisturized and not breaking... Rock it!
No problem! Omg I just tried to do a porosity test last night lol bit I think I need to do it again to be sure lol. It was low porosity.... in that test lol
Some people do just fine with using products containing glycerin all year but my hair feels hard and dry. So I'm saving those things for spring and summer :) I hope that wasn't confusing LOL
I think that would probably work out awesome for you! (as long as your products don't have cones, mineral oils, heavy proteins etc that will cause build up and dryness) I have been saying to myself whenever I get the urge to change something major in my routine..."If it's not broke don't fix it! LOL " Even though I cowash only, I have only had to clarify my hair with apple cider vinegar once since September
You have such a cheery personality! Thanks for sharing about the mist! I have been using the milk for a while with minimal results, and perhaps because of the glycerin. Question, since you are not using the smoothie in the cold season, what do you use while twisting for hold and definition. Is your hair just wet with no product? Thanks!
You are funny. You did well with your review. I just started using the Shea Moisture for fine and thin hair shampoo along with the growth milk. I really like using them especially the growth milk--it really detangles the hair just like other reviewers have said. I am going to try the one you are using because I love coconut.
The SM products were on sale last week bogo free so I bought this mist and the Yucca and Baobob mist and I use it in my parts as a braid spray and I love it.
+joyfuldiamond Thank you! Btw, Shea Moisture has reformulated this product and the last time I tried it which was a couple years ago, it didn't perform as well. :/ I was bummed lol!
You are so cute!! I just came across your videos and subscribed ! I just bought this product and the curl enhancing smoothie. Hopefully it works for me!
It depends, some poeple dont have an issue with it. gylerin is a humectant so is there isn't mositure in the aire it will pull moisture out of your hair, so it might dry out in the winter or get frizzy. but like i said, not eveyone has this issue with it. Where i live isn't very cold so it not an huge issue for me
Shea moisture products are definetly worth it since I started using the shampoo and curl enhancing smoothie I've no dry or itchy scalp Walgreens got a sale buy one product get one free
I really like this product as well! However, one thing I noticed when reading the ingredient list is that hibiscus is not listed on the label. I googled the name of each plant that I was not familiar with that was on the label and none of them were hibiscus. Does your bottle list it? Not that it is a huge deal, but if I am going to use something that is marketed as coconut and hibiscus, I would expect it to have those ingredients:/
Love your reviews, I thought it was just me who did the back of the hand 'fro test loool Your hair texture is very similar to mine, so thanks for the great reviews, helps me to see what may or may not work. :)
Hi! I have MAJOR shrinkage as well lol so I don't fight with it. I just try to style it working with whatever shape it decides to take on for the day lol. For moisture, look into trying the LOC method :D ( I also cowash my hair instead of shampooing) I have been doing this since September and it has saved my fro lol. I have a recent video called Updated Cowashing/Moisturizing Routine that shows what I have been doing to my fro :) I really hope it helps!!!
Girl Ive been a natural like forever I cut shave clip Now I just clip olive oil while wet nd dry and when needed mayo My hair is like yours but I think its a lil looser in the top but my side are really coiled I will be watching you more and I will be putting up some videos 2 hope you watch& God bless;-=);-)
I started off doing that which is why my hair was softer and recently started shampooing because I was told it good for keeping your scalp clean and sometimes I get dandruff. Maybe I should cowash and only shampoo when it seems my scalp needs it
Is this what you use to keep hair moisturized? When I didn't do a twistout my hair was extremely dry than it ever has been. I BC'd almost 2 months ago. I shampoo and condition (Shea Moisture) my hair once a wk ( dry scalp). This time it was fully shrunken and dry. I have to LOC more to keep it soft. Any suggestions?
Soooo I had already washed my hair and I brought this spray after that. So my hair was already twisted. Well this morning after I got off work I spritz my hair with water and added some of my curl enhancing smoothie and spritzed it with this stuff. I just took a twist loose and oooooooooooh soft. I was worried yesterday because my hair felt so hard. Not sure why but this made up for it. :). Thanks for your recommendation. Our hair is similar so I need to check out what else u use now.
I was just at Walgreens yesterday to stock up on the green line of Shea moisture. I looked at that product, but got discouraged when it said for thick curly hair :( I have thin hair 4c/b hair. Can you explain about the glycerin and winter.
can you do a video on how to use it ,,i use the SM line too. just the shampoo, soufflé and smoothie and i really do love them.. on wash day i use both products but the rest of the days i just use the souffle
+NaturalMe4C Do you use this over a leave in conditioner? I just bought this and I like it, but I am having a little trouble using it by itself on my hair, with it being sticky. How do you use it???
@@queensaharaice7376 Wow this comment IS old! Surprised I got a notification. The mist worked best for me before the leave in on wet hair but I ended up not continuing to use it because I found another product I liked. But you can try that method and see if it works for you if you buy it! It did add shine (3b)
Thank you for the video! Excellent presentation! It a beautiful product! It defines my curls! Don’t hesitate to buy the product! You will not regret buying this product! It and awesome product!! Greetings from Toronto Canada 🙏💖🇨🇦😇🥰
aaaahhhh so hard to pick because I love this line lol. My faves are the mist, curl and shine conditioner and the souffle. I would probably go with the souffle surprisingly though because it enhances other products for me :) Out of the three you mentioned I'd pick....the mist????? lol
I have used their curl enhancing smootie twice and I really like it. The only thing about it is it leaves my hair feeling a tad bit dry but not by much I just add some moisture to it and is fine. I'm about to try out this mist spray. If this works for me also I might just try the whole line.
De Naja' Handy Awesome! BTW, they have since changed the formula a bit :/ So its not as good for me as it once was :/ I still have it in my stash though! :D
They lowered the protein but for some reason it seems more watery than before and not as moisturizing for me. Its still decent but I wish they didn't change it :)
NaturalMe4C oh okay. That can be a disappointment. We truly need protein and a moisturizer that's not oily or too watery. I'll keep that in mind with evaluating the product :)
Hi my hair is like yours I live in Michigan it's so have to keep it moisturized and shiny I have all the shea moisture products but nothing seems to help I have lots of shrinkage too please help
Thank you for responding :). I have the mist in yucca and the curl enhancer and I also have the milk in yucca and also the curl enhancing but I'm not sure which one is important :/ I don't want product build up. I have thick hair and the reason why I brought the yucca & bamboo extract is to help my edges grow. I'm not sure if I should return everything back (the yucca & bamboo) and buy only curl enhancing smoothie and only use Jamaican castro oil on my hot oil treatments. Please help
I've layered SM products several times without getting buildup :) (and I don't shampoo my hair I cowash) I've done things like use the milk or conditioner as a leave in, the smoothies and the souffle for one style etc. When I use the mists it's usually at the end or to refresh or plump up my hair :)
I tend to use it on damp or wet hair. Yeah, it could be the glycerin or just too many glycerin rich products making your hair feel that way...
