Made the mistake of sleeping on Siege Galaxy Prime and got him for $85 this year, but since the figure is so cool and it's a Gen. scaled version of my absolute favorite Optimus design, I think it was worth it. He's a lot more dynamic than his chunky design appears to be at first, and the core robot, while not accurate, is still cool. I'll be using the core form as a G2 Comics Optimus in my photos going forward, as he kind of matches the more bulky way he was often drawn in the comics, plus the silver gun is somewhat similar to the one he wielded.
Kind of wish hybrid style gets some kind of reboot that fixes a large amount of issues the old entries had, so that way the figures can at least match up to the 3P legends figures on the market
I would honestly LOVE a repaint of Galaxy Upgrade Optimus as Hot Spot with "Defensor Armor" or as Motormaster with "Menasor Armor". Bonus points if either one gets the armor bits repainted to resemble the limbs of the combiner.
When it comes to grading a legends scale figure, it's a bit hard to judge what is and isn't something these figures will struggle with (for example, less detail possible, less to do with budget, smaller more finicky, etc.). However, sometimes it feels the issues here could have been smoothed out with a bit more thought.
I remember when I found out this existed, I thought "ok, but why?" Like G1 Prime I can understand since they tend to make new versions of him all the time, but Cybertron/Galaxy Force wasn't even that old when this figure came out and it's really not all that different from the original Leader, not to mention how the show pretty much lifted the toy design right down to the lever on the back of his head for his mask, so not like the Hybrid Style could be any more accurate.
@@DrLockdown hey Dr lockdown just a quick heads up if you're planning on getting the studio series Galvatron figure I just want to let you know that sometimes the double hinge for the grill gets stuck actually on my figure just right before commenting the grill got stuck on my copy I tried getting it transformed all the way then it just popped off now I could've do something wrong but I followed emgo316 just transform it vid down to the letter so just want to let you know that's a major problem also I got it to pop back on and robot mode is where he's going to stay you know until I can find a transforming trick that will loosen the hinge a bit know of any tricks?

They're pretty good. Imagine MP45, but actually good, shrunken down and somehow really simple and enjoyable. It sounds like a recipe for disaster, but it really works.
What are your thoughts on Core Lazerbeak? I’m personally not a big fan, but i do enjoy the many areas that can be painted (though I must question whose idea it was to paint the wheels black over cast them in black plastic. I transformed it maybe twice before the wheels started chipping)

So yesterday I christened my return to Transformers with the Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus, a figure that I feel is very deeply flawed, but still a very solid representation of Delta Magnus...and I've already ordered the labels to fully convert him into a Gaudy, beautiful Diaclone-inspired Autobot rather than the Skull-Faced Tyrant covered in Tribal Tats and cracks. also the core-robot is Magna Convoy, who introduces most of your videos, so that's just a sweet bonus. considering the Galaxy Upgrade is the same figure, but in GF Aesthetic, I may just go after that one next. though the upgrades and labels are going to get very expensive haha.
I am curious as to what they would’ve attempted of Hybrid Style as a line had continued. Obviously repaints like a Magnus and stuff, but I wonder if they would’ve done Cybertron Megatron to go with Galaxy Convoy or even a G1 Megatron attempt
I actually have the g1 Optimus Hybrid Style figure. Found it in a comic shop sealed, and thought it was a cool little figure, so I grabbed it with not knowing the history of the Hybrid Style line. Thankfully the leg sliders haven't given out on me yet, so I can still stand and pose him decently well. In fact, knowing the history of the Hybrid Style line makes me enjoy having the figure even more since I have a piece of Transformers history
3:53 I live in the US, and a month or two ago i went into a used toy store and saw this figure in a case i asked the guy at the counter how much it was, so he takes it out, looks at the tag, and goes “$140.” all i said was “one hundred forty?” and he just went back to doing something else what happened to twin twist why’s he so expensive there’s even a new version of the mold out! i don’t understand!
Combination of shortpacking and desire for that kind in general. Titans return, for whatever reason, sells really well on the aftermarket. Furthermore, the jumpstarters were never sold in large quantities. I never saw them locally: I bought topspin from a random guy at a convenient and twintwist while I was passing through a Singaporean airport on the way to Greece. Neither showed up locally.
I'm of the opinion that all figures should be played with, no matter the scale. It's the reason why I didn't buy any figures for at least 15 years, I felt that I didn't enjoy playing with toys anymore. Now of course with how Masterpiece figures are that might not be feasible. It's the reason I'll probably never buy one as at those prices I'd be terrified of breaking a piece and having wasted so much money. Nice use of Metroid music in the background. Love me some Metroid.

Moving house. It took pretty much a whole year because the first agent was incompetent, the second agent was dodgy and trying to sell it to someone who shouldn't have had it sold to, and the third agent FINALLY let us take it.

I unscrewed the cannons and removed the automorph gimmick so that they would face forward in flight mode. Because the screws are tiny there’s a risk of stripping the hole. I hope MMC or FansHobby would make one as the TR-02 Commander of Stars doesn’t feel like the definitive version. Nothing currently beats the original cybertron leader toy.

Man, us galaxy convoy fans get the shaft, like siege is fine but I do prefer the proportions of the OG, the OG is p pricey, the commander of stars 3rd party is a little more pricey than the OG and has 2 fixable issues but still annoying, and this review adding to the list on a figure I've been eyeing on since early highschool. At this point if legacy rereleased the siege one with no battle dmg, painted head wing fins, and for a bonus a different head for the core robot to mimic the normal mode of galaxy convoy I would just get that in a heartbeat now, I'm not financial stable to invest on the 3rd party that in looks, gimmicks and poseability is what I always dreamed of and seen galaxy convoy as ever since 2005 so I just pray for a rerelease for legacy.
Legends scale isn't just for play, Mostly I have them for display, it's either than or posing them or transforming them back and forth. I'm 40+ I'm not gonna play with these toys. Much as I would like to think I would. Also The original figure is big, not everyone has the amount of space or budget to create a display of all the characters they want to in the Masterpiece scale or in the size of Cybertron Prime here. The original toy is much better to play with, but the Hybrid version is a nice scaled down version which doesn't look scaled down like the original Legends version does. You can use it in smaller backdrops for photographing where the full size one would be difficult. I got my Hybrid Galaxy Convoy for £50 about 10 years ago and at the time I thought I'd overpaid, but I did appreciate it's quality. The G1 Prime always looked crap.
I don't think hastak have jumped on legends for 2 reasons. 1. They have found great success with what they're doing with mp 2. For them to sell they'd have to make them equal to or better than current 3rd party legends figures.

I wish that thrird party would just make a legions of cybertron optimus jetpack. that toy would be a holy grail. I know the legions toy could never poll off the faceplate gimmick and the back of his legs can't become platform shoe. but I'd still buy it. All that means is it needs to happen Also this is galaxy convoy you are required by law to call those force chips.
I agree with your take that legends figures should be designed more for play than display, because as a 3rd party legends collector I find myself favoring simpler figures from the likes of mechsfanstoys over the modern mini-masterpieces released by Newage and Magic Square. HOWEVER, I do think saying that legend scale figures will always lose out to larger scale figures when it comes to shelf presence is a gross oversimplification, because as a collector with limited display space, I find decorating my shelf with an army of high quality compact figures to be much more appealing than having three MP scale figure that would take up the same amount of space. I know I’m in the minority on this, but I like more quantity over quality when it comes to my collections (plus it gives me an excuse to buy more figures😅).

No, but his style of engineering greatly differs from how things are done today. Things move in huge chunks with heavy engineering. I would've used a better example, but given the move I was restricted to archival footage from previous reviews. Most of my collection is still in a storage facility. It was the closest I had.

Third party AND Hasbro have too much of a hard on for G1. Hasbro might be doing other shows in Legacy but they're still geewunnifying half of them. Prime and Animated are getting shafted, even if their new Dreadwing is 100 times better than Arcee, Bulkhead (which is good if you don't call it Prime Bulkhead) and *_especially_* Knockout, and their first Animated figure with Prowl looks like they actually tried and looks good because of it, (minus the head) they're still geewunnifying them instead of just using their original designs. And I don't wanna hear shit about how "tHe DeSiGnS aRe HaRd To MaKe FiGuReS oF" when the SS movie figures exist. Thats a terrible excuse that doesn't even work.
People are using that excuse? That's...a bit silly. Though I'm not opposed to them using the siege aesthetic. It's not real G1 toon or toy: just an aesthetic that works alongside the g1 characters in WFC and legacy. I don't mind the aesthetic as long as it's done well.

Mp-01 is the first figure I owned that used that trick for the sliding rail, still the best way to do them

I think it's rubbish. It somehow fails at a transformation scheme the Legion legends versions did right way back in ROTF and DOTM

He's good, but the alt modes aren't great. The transformation is also only ok. Robot mode is really good though
Disagree. The truck mode is pretty neat. It's mainly the cassette player mode that had issues, but that's only because of a lack of tabs on the arms.
Yeah it’s kind of annoying to get the tabs locked in perfectly but the truck mode is really good in my opinion. It’s kinda unique in my eyes.

A potential for a new Legends Galaxy Convoy/Cybertron Prime with proper Legends engineering but with all of the features could be big.
I reckon axing the cyber key features might be for the best. They worked this time, but most companies would fudge it.

Legends scale isn't just for play, Mostly I have them for display, it's either than or posing them or transforming them back and forth. I'm 40+ I'm not gonna play with these toys. Much as I would like to think I would. Also The original figure is big, not everyone has the amount of space or budget to create a display of all the characters they want to in the Masterpiece scale or in the size of Cybertron Prime here. The original toy is much better to play with, but the Hybrid version is a nice scaled down version which doesn't look scaled down like the original Legends version does. You can use it in smaller backdrops for photographing where the full size one would be difficult. I got my Hybrid Galaxy Convoy for £50 about 10 years ago and at the time I thought I'd overpaid, but I did appreciate it's quality. The G1 Prime always looked crap.

2. For them to sell they'd have to make them equal to or better than current 3rd party legends figures.

I wish that thrird party would just make a legions of cybertron optimus jetpack. that toy would be a holy grail. I know the legions toy could never poll off the faceplate gimmick and the back of his legs can't become platform shoe. but I'd still buy it.

I agree with your take that legends figures should be designed more for play than display, because as a 3rd party legends collector I find myself favoring simpler figures from the likes of mechsfanstoys over the modern mini-masterpieces released by Newage and Magic Square. HOWEVER, I do think saying that legend scale figures will always lose out to larger scale figures when it comes to shelf presence is a gross oversimplification, because as a collector with limited display space, I find decorating my shelf with an army of high quality compact figures to be much more appealing than having three MP scale figure that would take up the same amount of space. I know I’m in the minority on this, but I like more quantity over quality when it comes to my collections (plus it gives me an excuse to buy more figures😅).

I would've used a better example, but given the move I was restricted to archival footage from previous reviews. Most of my collection is still in a storage facility. It was the closest I had.

Third party AND Hasbro have too much of a hard on for G1. Hasbro might be doing other shows in Legacy but they're still geewunnifying half of them. Prime and Animated are getting shafted, even if their new Dreadwing is 100 times better than Arcee, Bulkhead (which is good if you don't call it Prime Bulkhead) and *_especially_* Knockout, and their first Animated figure with Prowl looks like they actually tried and looks good because of it, (minus the head) they're still geewunnifying them instead of just using their original designs.
And I don't wanna hear shit about how "tHe DeSiGnS aRe HaRd To MaKe FiGuReS oF" when the SS movie figures exist. Thats a terrible excuse that doesn't even work.

Though I'm not opposed to them using the siege aesthetic. It's not real G1 toon or toy: just an aesthetic that works alongside the g1 characters in WFC and legacy. I don't mind the aesthetic as long as it's done well.
