This piece tells us why Hawaii is the greatest state in the Union and offers hope. Years ago, living in the islands, I learned that the residents of Molokai refused to embrace large scale corporate tourism as a solution to high costs of living and jobs. This tiny but astoundingly beautiful place is an example and inspiration.

Hoping Molokai can stay pristine for long time. We no need another Oa'hu. Maui is already on its way to becoming another Oa'hu.

My wife and I living for 25 years (2023) on the Big Island, feeling, our island culture is “losing it”, how far away are we from the Waikiki lifestyle, we are not sure if our island is still pono. We’ve never been to the island of Molokai, I don’t know why, perhaps, I would like to feel an intruder myself ? We would very much appreciate any recommendations from the people of Molokai, what the appropriate way is, to experience this unique island and culture . Mahalo nui

I am aware that Molokai is the least " tourist- ey" of the bigger islands... But isn't tourism the main source of income? I hope that it can retain its pristine natural state. I am aware of pineapple and coconut plantations there and a wildlife reserve.

Friendly Market need’s to stop using “Plastic Shopping Bags” they are big polluters. Use paper or make locals use their own bags like we do in Europe

The deer they hunt aren't native to Hawaii and destroy crops and native plants. If no one hunted them they would overrun the island.

A good place to bring some recent African and Somali refugees after just crossing the border from Mexico. We will need all available space to house these people and Hawaiians must do their part in welcoming these Muslim immigrants.
