Thank you very much for this video. My AC went out last night and I noticed it was cold only on Low setting. I found this tutorial and removed the circuit board as described and found one of the wires broken exactly like shown in your video. I didn’t replace them as shown in the video, I soldered it where it was broken and reassembled and it works perfectly. It now reads the interior temperature. When I press the RES button for 5 seconds and scroll up to NR 01 the interior temperature is displayed, before I repaired it indicated zero degrees. The entire repair was 20 minutes, thanks again for sharing. Without this video I was going to the dealer to repair.
after seeing this video I repaired the thermistor in my 04' S500 after years of paying for diagnostics and it never actually being fixed. upon removing the housing it was visually apparent and an obvious blockage of dust and debris on what remained of the temp sensor. the repair was simple, part was stupid cheap, and the proper operation of the W220 climate controls are absolutely dependent upon this one component. with 250,000 miles on the car, this was by far, the least expensive major repair. endless gratitude, thank you for posting the video.
thanks brother i just fixed mine worked like a charm saved $460. idk why mercedes got so cheap why couldnt they do a thick wiring or something like we just did, i know so they can charge us $460 but tnx to your help i fixed mine now it blows cold air on 72 thank you.
I had the same issue but my sensor(thermistor) was so bad that I couldn’t solder anything to it and honestly wouldn’t want. So after googling I’ve found that you can buy thermistor and replace it with the existing one that’s bad. Just search on ebay for “ NTC Thermistor temperature sensor bead 10k 1% 3950 “ make sure it has all these spec in order to work correctly Thanks for video!
I never comment on these, but this was fantastically helpful and allowed me to do the repair, start to finish, in 20 minutes. the break in my wire looked exactly like the one in your video. Thank you for taking the time to put this video.
RomkaTheMan - Very well done. $360 is what I paid in 2011 to replace the Overhead Control Panel on my W220, and I was happy doing that. I read about the MB dealership repair quote: ~$1800.
Thank you. I have the same issue exactly. I checked the part, exactly as you did(without Breaking the clips 😏). And yes, one wire was broken. I'm going to fix this at the shop tomorrow or whenever I get back there. Thank you so much.
Nice video. I just had to do the same work on mine! I used 5amp fuse wire on mine though. Was a relief to see the digital readout nr.01 showing some figures other than 0 degrees! I hoped to see that on your video when you reinstalled!
wonderful video. I HATE those little fans. had a Volvo that the little fan was making SOOOOO much noice. NOw the same little fan makes some noise in my Mercedes. Now I am gonna use a can of air to blow the dust off without opening it. Hope it would stop the noise.
Cabin temperature sensor since I have 4 zone u should have 2 or 4 I don't remember their location but this is your problem it can't detect cabin temperature to adjust to anything other than full hot or cold find and replace these sensors
I wonder if this is my issue on my w203. If climate control is on my ac works for a few minutes then blows hot. If I turn climate control off it works just fine.
Did you unplug the battery before doing this? I bought a brand new unit at the dealer because I didn't want to run the risk of it buzzing later on but don't know if I need to kill the batt first. Thanks!
RomkaTheMan ok thanks! if you had no issues then I am sure it will be fine. did you have to get a screw driver under the light lens to pop it off? where did you pry? Thanks again!
RomkaTheMan thanks I tried and mine were too soft and I had a hard and medium.. flat head screw driver and being careful did it.. a couple of the connectors didn't want to come out very easy but I took my time and easily pryed on them a little and then was able to pull them out.. the new unit is in and I can see my old one is broken in the same spot so I may fix it and sell it to someone who wants a good used one
Hello there,my w220 blows super hot when i select temperature after 17-18 on display and to have cold i must select LO!!no way to have middle temperature in the car…any ideas?thanks
I pulled down the console above the rearview mirror. fixed the sensor. But now there is no power to that console AT ALL. NOTHING WORKS. Checked all the fuses and all fuses are good. What did I miss and what went wrong? Did I burn the whole board? Thanks for your help.
Please list all the things that no longer work: Light sensor, rain sensor, roof open/close, dome light, heat sensor (check AC panel as shown in video)...all these things pass through the overhead control panel (OCP).
I have a 200 S430 and all of a sudden the blower did not come on anymore. for 2-3 days then all of a suuden it came on then no more and then on one more time.
hey I followed your video and did find same sensor wires are broken, how ever mine is broken by the sensor and sodering is not an option. do you know if you can replace the whole thing or the sensor it self? Thanks
See if it has any numbers on it and Google em. I personally never searched for it. sometimes u can use a very small glasses repair screw, to tap into where the lead enters and solder to it. if it's broke u got nothing to loose.
thanks excellent thanks bro but i have some problem with my 2001 s500L right side duct blowing cold air and driver side duct blowing hot air and same thing happing with the rear ac plz help me.

Thank You. I had got quoted $500 to troubleshoot by mechanic. Never would have known if not for your video. Fixed mine in 2 hours.

I can confirm this works on the W215 chassis as well. Fixed up my 2006 CL!

Thanks for the video. Had the exact same problem same car model. Someone told me where the problem was but your video showed me how to do it.
Thanks a lot! there is almost nothing on the internet about this problem.
Thank you for all hard work. Thank you, all the best from Florida

Thanks, it took longer to make the video, then it did to do the fix.
I just fixed my S430 Thank you so very much!
So tremendously helpful. This video is very well done.
Great video. Thanks, saved me lots of testing and searching time. Easy fix (when you are good with circuit board level soldering).
wonderful video. I HATE those little fans. had a Volvo that the little fan was making SOOOOO much noice. NOw the same little fan makes some noise in my Mercedes. Now I am gonna use a can of air to blow the dust off without opening it. Hope it would stop the noise.
Major thumbs UP!!!
Thanks Romka, your video helped for me today. :)
Thank you very much!
Thanks for this video im give this a try ..tomorrow
Good job thanks
Dreams like some preventative maintenance is to spray some electrical cleaner into that port once a year to remove dirt

Awesome info. I need description of the capacitor between these two wires, would you please?
You have to remove the light lenses, they simply clip into place, then u will see screws that hold the assembly to the roof.
Did you unplug the battery before doing this? I bought a brand new unit at the dealer because I didn't want to run the risk of it buzzing later on but don't know if I need to kill the batt first. Thanks!
Christopher May Battery unplug would probably be best. But I didn't.
RomkaTheMan ok thanks! if you had no issues then I am sure it will be fine. did you have to get a screw driver under the light lens to pop it off? where did you pry? Thanks again!
Christopher May I use plastic trim tool.

Also when i select automatic it goes full power and never go down
I used a plastic trim/plastic clip removing tool but a crew driver will work fine, just be careful
great video (y)

I’m doing this now and the temp sensor is crumbling. May have to look for another sensor later.
But were do I start in taking that part off with what tool will I need.
