I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American. I was finishing 11th grade, when the Blazers made this run. The second half of my 10th grade year, until the middle of my 12th grade year, was among the BEST times of my life! 1993-94 was also one of the BEST years of my life (despite the Sonics losing to Denver in the playoffs), and 1996 was pretty special. The NBA on CBS is my favorite NBA song. I have long thought that I'd live to be 48, and pass away in 2021. My Dad passed away in 2003 unexpectedly, and life hasn't been happy for me since. I have long planned for my 2021 funeral, and wanted it to be music based. Sports music, kid songs, Japanese kid songs, Christmas music, video games music, TV theme songs, songs from the 80s. If I am indeed in the final months of my life, these Blazers teams are memories I will cherish, during my final months on Earth.
Gratitude. These were 2 stellar teams. I just read that Terry Porter recently sold his residence in Oregon and everything left inside will be sold at an estate sale. Peace to Rod Strickland. Peace to Uncle Cliff. Peace to Petrović. No repeats for 17 seasons the Lakers went back to back, Pistons went back to back, Bulls 3 peat, Rockets went back to back then Bulls 3 peat. Amazing era.
Tf are you talking about "peace to" Rod Strickland? He isnt dead. But a lot of players in this game are..Petrovic, Cliff Robinson, Caldwell Jones, Jerome Kersey and Kevin Duckworth are the ones I know for sure
i remberber the line in slam magazine about the outcome of this game, in an article about jason williams in 19999, " yes rod strickland, we know about your assist in 1990, the one that hit sean elliott in the head "
At the time, this series was a battle of perennial also-rans. The Blazers had only ever won more than 1 series in a playoff once (their championship season of 1977) while the Spurs never had. Throughout the 80s, these two teams were mostly one-and-done playoff teams; they would usually get eliminated before anybody realized they were even there.
T'Blazers won this decisive Game VII at home to advance to Western Conference Finals where they'd go on to defeat Suns in 6 games to earn berth in World Ch'mpnshp Series before b'wng in 5 games to P'stns, who s'ccssflly r'ptd as league's world ch'mpns that 1989-1990 season
In Game V, their World Championship Series-eliminating loss to Pistons at home, 92-90, T'Blazer star Clyde Drexler fouled out late as Pistons themselves w/them leading in series 3-1 and trailing late in game, 90-83 went on run, 9 un-answered pts. for 92-90 comeback win to clinch llnd, their back-to-back N.B.A. world championships (1988-1989/1989-1990 seasons, back-to-back)
Jordan had Paxson & Armstrong (Pippen, Grant, Cartwright) Hakeem had Smith & Cassell Magic had Worthy & Scott & Van Exel & Eddie Jones Karl Malone had Stockton & Hornacek & Jeff Malone Barkley had Kevin Johnson and Hersey Hawkins and Ainge and Majerle and Cheeks Isiah Thomas had Dumars, Rodman, Aguirre, Laimbeer and Microwave David Robinson had Strickland, Cummings, Duncan, Elliot, Rodman, Del Negro SHAQ had Penny and Horace Grant, Dennis Scott, Nick Anderson, Van Exel, Eddie Jones, Kobe Bryant, Derek Fisher, Rick Fox 🦊🐊, Robert Horry Drexler had Porter, Ainge, Petrovic, Paxson, Vandeghwe, Buck Williams, Clifford Robinson, Jerome Kersey Ewing had Strickland, Jackson, Starks, Mason, Oakley, Blackmon, Rivers, Harper, Cartwright Bird had Ainge, McHale, Lewis, Parish, Dee Brown Wilkins had Rivers, Willis, Moses Malone, Levingston, Carr, Augmon, Blaylock

You are two years too late
Keep on living; your dad will be waiting when the journey is over.
@@dereklarner6298 Thanks! We're about to begin 2024 in a couple of days, and I've lived nearly 3 years longer than I expected.

Terry Cummings vs Buck Williams, that's a badass matchup.

These were 2 stellar teams.
I just read that Terry Porter recently sold his residence in Oregon and everything left inside will be sold at an estate sale.
Peace to Rod Strickland.
Peace to Uncle Cliff. Peace to Petrović.

Rod Strickland was too good of a PG to make that Pass 😎
That was a fantastic game! Glad I watched it

Miss these days
I remember this game so well. I miss the old NBA on CBS theme.
Man, the defense was so tough and physical back then. How did they survive?
Thx for the upload of a fantastic game 7 back in the day. FYI couple sound issues at very end
In Spain we discovered thw NBA in the 80´. Amazing...
I wonder how many people in 1990 would have recognized who those two guys were sitting courtside at 1:59:33
rip kevin duckworth, rip jerome Kersey
Sadly the last match on CBS.
What are you talking about? This game took place in 1990. Unless if you are referring to CBS.

Thanks remember every player here and the Referees! lol
This game happened the day of my junior prom.
Spurs had a history of blowing close game with Larry Brown as Coach. We get Pop and a few acquisitions.
🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
What a leap !!!
Excellent
Boy Portland was ROARING in 1990 during the playoffs.
1989-1990
I almost thought that Terry Cummings had a hole in his neck in the thumbnail.
If adelman trust more petrovic ,blazers gonna win pistons, and the limited rotation cost blazers 92 title
No, being choke artists cost them the title.
I agree. Petrovic could create his own shot and didn't throw the ball away under pressure.
At 2:01:22 Drexler clearly grabbed Anderson which should’ve been a foul, and this is the play I remember most from this era of basketball!
please tell me who you all feel was the most elite between the 82 83 and 95 spurs and the 90 91 and 92 blazers
The screenshot looks like the worst neck boil ever

San Antonio made too many mistakes in the final minute.
2:10:45 is the play most people remember of the game, and one of the dumbest I’ve ever seen. Incredibly stupid.
