So, a mujahadeen is captured, fighting bravly, by Soviets and their Afghan allies, expecting to die, he makes his peace with death only to be shown unexpected mercy by the infidel, astounded, he joins their side and they write a song about him.

Great song, just one question though, Is there a deeper political meaning to this song?
No, from my POV it is simply the telling of the Soviets Enemy: why he fights, his motivation, and in the end his willingness to die at risk of death. After all, how can you subjugate a culture, who's death is not the end but a beginning. Where revenge is the rule of the day? Where killing grants you rewards in the afterlife.

what you make of it.
Yes, because although he was captured the Russians tended his wounds instead of killing him. So the underlying message is quite usual: The civilized people against the barbarians. Also the whole talisman thing strikes me as superstitious, which is what communism is supposed to free humankind of, among other things.
@@sspicyyful you're looking into it too much. It's a war song, not literature class.
Can anyone elaborate further on the word "Dushman" ?? I hear its a Turkic word that Persians used a lot, but apparently its spread further to the balkans, other middle eastern and asian countries.
I think it's Persian in origin and that's where it spread from, I can't speak for other regions but in pashto "Dushman" means enemy or opponent.
@@khyber__ Dushman has a root in "dusha"/"duša" which is spirit or soul of person. Dusha/duša equates to soul.
"Dushman"/"dušman" is an enemy, someone not just content with injuring your body, but someone praying upon you and your soul. Hope this helps. Cheers!
