Please first of all, learn how to handle a Fire Arm. You will hurt yourself while pulling the slide of the Pistol. Never ever grip the slide from the upper side, always grip it from the groves given at the end of the gun slide. Secondly NP22 Pistol never have a Safety option, it is a Decocking system which you are mentioning as Safety. Lastly the lever is the slide opening catch not a barrel lock.

There are 3 levers on the NP 58 the slide catch, the decocker and the takedown lever.
