Slugs work well , I would say better in .177 than .22 to be honest . I didn’t think sub12 guns shot them very well but after loads of testing , they do work . I think it’s the heavier weights in .22 that muck things up , in .177 you can get some tiny little things .
@@TripleGRogerLaitall tp do with the air guns barrel really and the choking in the barrel some people try them and they get stuck in the end because of the barrel choke but little to no barrel choking and slugs seem to be acceptable but again in sub 12 absolutely pointless imo
A heavy projectile will leave your barrel a lot slower compared to 10 grain pellet or a 15.39 pellet you see your speed change these types of grains , you would need to turn reg pressure up to achieve this but that would take your gun over the 12 foot pound maker.
Eyup, I have the same gun I thought it might be running at about nine and a half or ten. I am going to try them in mine because I have a box of them. Is that a Zulus scope I see, how are you getting on with it. I really fancy one I think it be a buy before too much longer. you could rite bit of a report on that as well. cheers Paul.
Now then Paul my friend lucky us having such a cracking gun. 😁👍😉 Yes it the zulus 3-12 it's looking like a cracking piece of kit. I'm not very technically minded so I'll let you know when I suss it out . Hah.😁🤣🤣🤣 Soon as I get more familiar with it I'll do a review on it. Thanks for the great comments buddy.👍👏👏👋
No skirt to expand in the lands, meaning air is passing the slug down the barrel, the expanded skirt under pressure seals it... Still a tad low even for a slug, I'd have expected around the 10fpe on the plus side 10.1 , 10.2 ish.. Nevertheless it will retain its power better down range, to what degree I don't know. That would depend on what weight slug & pellet..
Wouldnt bother with slugs atall mate would just move to a heavy pelley maybe qys or jsb The issue is with slugs they slow down imensley because of the choke in an air gun barrel as i was sayinb on another one of your videos im geggjng a brk ghost next month... but my innitial want was an agt vulcan v3 but after doing some reaserch i since found out that all agt barrels are un choked this is done across the board now by agt as majority of their rifles are higher power but slugs prefer an unchoked barrel even in sub 12 So realistically the reason most air rifles that are sub 12 dont really like slugs that much is all to do with if the barrel is choked or not as a choked barrel will suit pellets better as the slight change in barrel diamiter as the pellet enters the choke its squashed to eliminate any imperfections and help stabilise the pellet so i would alwasy say stay with pellets hence thw reasoning for changing to the ghost yes the cz barrel in the v3 would have still been accurate but more than likely because its un choked low quality pellets would have been terrible and there is a high possibility the rifle would have been pellet fussy so opted for lothar walther barrel in the ghost that is choked that i know will prefer pellets Long drawn out comment but hopefully it helps only reason to use slugs really is high power stuff or because they look better than a pellet but with the advances in pellets these days theres no need
Not drawn out mate just fully explained and understood. Just tried em as I'd seen others using them. To be honest up to now the Hades seems to be the best for the 100. Cheers for the excellent comments mate. I enjoyed reading it 😀😉👍
@colinForster-jm8pu see i stay clear tbf last thing I want is one getting stuck in my barrel and having to rod it out but I get why some people use them the energy retention is good for me though I'm more a target shooter than a hunter or pest controller so I don't really need to use them tbf but they can work in some rifles but for me .. Sub 12 .177 is the way to go and strictly pellets
I've been using Zan 10gn slugs for about six months now and if they are accurate in your barrel they're great. I use them in several rifles, hw100 and rapid also hw80. They leave the barrel at about a ftlb less than pellets but maintain more energy. I'm using the same aim points for 10gn slugs as I'd use for 8.4 pellet. They need about half of hold off for wind as a pellet, if you hunt give them a try.
It's got a choked barrel. That solid slug passing through a tight choke will create big drag effects.
Yeah mate someone else mentioned that buddy. Thanks for the good feedback.👍😉
Another great wee video 😊
Thanks for that Steve mate. I'm trying 😁👍
Slugs are not really made for sub 12ft lbs ,stick to pellets less contact inside the barrel...
Yes mate starting to suss that out. Had them there so just thought I'd give them a try. 👍😁

@TripleGRogerLait nice to know buddy. Thanks. 👍

Thanks moonshine 😁 it all makes perfect sense 😜👍

Stick to the Hades seems to be the order of the day.
Yes they look good if I'm honest. Think you may be right. 👍😁
Good test which shows slugs don't work well in sub-12FPE guns and they are expensive.
Exactly mate. Hope it saves people spending money they don't have too. 👍😜
💯
Yes anth a got pretty good results through the npo2 accuracy wise but the power is way down in the Weihrauch? 😭

@markhomer5704 cheers for that mark. Had them lying about so thought I'd give them a try. Need to do a few pellets and find the right one👍

The issue is with slugs they slow down imensley because of the choke in an air gun barrel as i was sayinb on another one of your videos im geggjng a brk ghost next month... but my innitial want was an agt vulcan v3 but after doing some reaserch i since found out that all agt barrels are un choked this is done across the board now by agt as majority of their rifles are higher power but slugs prefer an unchoked barrel even in sub 12
So realistically the reason most air rifles that are sub 12 dont really like slugs that much is all to do with if the barrel is choked or not as a choked barrel will suit pellets better as the slight change in barrel diamiter as the pellet enters the choke its squashed to eliminate any imperfections and help stabilise the pellet so i would alwasy say stay with pellets hence thw reasoning for changing to the ghost yes the cz barrel in the v3 would have still been accurate but more than likely because its un choked low quality pellets would have been terrible and there is a high possibility the rifle would have been pellet fussy so opted for lothar walther barrel in the ghost that is choked that i know will prefer pellets

@silverback710 get ya buddy 👍
I thought Santa said.....
No sign of those black eyes though so I guess you have approval for your shenanigans 😂
My lass is mint with a make up brush 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤪👍

Might just do that Mrd . Thanks for the tip.😉👍
