    I feel like there is such a pressure in the community to “read through the Bible in a year.” Thank you for encouraging true study and worship and patience and REST in Gods word.

    • @FlourishInHisWordwithJudy
      @FlourishInHisWordwithJudy  8 месяцев назад +6

      Yes, I definitely agree regarding the pressure. I do truly believe we should be reading the entire Bible, whether it takes one year or two years. It’s definitely good to make an effort to read the entire Bible through, but we should not be pressured on how much we read daily but allow God to guide us through it.
      My plan as of now is to take one year of really slowing down and deep study and every other year read through the entire Bible so that I get the full understanding of the Word. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!💛

    Ty for showing us how to slow down and truly study Gods word. So much pressure is put on us to read quickly, check off boxes, feel like we’ve accomplished spiritual goals. We lose so much in doing that! I’m going to do this in 2025, no time limit, no pressure, just being a Mary and sitting at the feet of my Savior, eating and drinking in His word. I tend to be a Martha in everything and at the end of the day I can’t remember what I even did! Yes, more content please!

    I was just talking about this to my daughter. I am conflicted about how to proceed in my bible studies this upcoming year because I feel so behind where I should be in my studies. When I rush to read, I'm not understanding. But this type of content is so important for us to realize that God's word is intentional and personal for it to have impact on our lives. I pray you continue to create this type of content so the Spirit to be shared through your presence and teachings. Many blessings

      @FlourishInHisWordwithJudy  2 месяца назад +1

      @@sandrarleal19 you’re not alone, I have definitely been there where I felt like I wasn’t doing enough in my studies and felt like I was falling behind at times. But I have realized that it is totally OK to slow down and the point is not for us to be on track with a plan or read a certain amount of the Bible by a certain time, the whole point is to draw near to the Lord. To hear from him, to meditate on His Word, and to grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. So whether that looks like reading a chapter a day or meditating on a verse throughout a week, God knows our heart and He is pleased when we seek Him. Be Encouraged❤️

    Thank you, Judy, for this video. The Lord has impressed upon me to do just what you displayed in this video. I, too, tend to lean on the commentaries more than the Holy Spirit when it comes to learning His Word. I have been having a great time reading through the cross references and finding so much revelation through them. Those cross references are not there to take up space on the pages but to lead you through His Word to find His revelation. Great discussion. Step two is writing what does this mean about God, what are any attributes or things he’s saying or not saying or anything that points to him. And step three is application. Hope this helps!

    Is it disjointed to read a single verse even when it is only part of the sentence? I tend to read sentences as a whole, but I’m always open for a new way to get more from the Word, but I’m concerned with splitting sentences.

    • @FlourishInHisWordwithJudy
      @FlourishInHisWordwithJudy  8 месяцев назад +2

      Hi, thanks for you question. I don’t find it to be disjointed as long as you read the surrounding verses and read it in context as I mentioned in the video. I would not recommend just reading a single verse to study unless you read the book, chapter and/or full sentence to get the full context before studying the verse. But for this type of study method I do like focusing on one verse at a time. But definitely do what works best for you😊
