    THANK YOU for including the amt of pressure and time to cook. I’ve watched 20 videos about canning squash and I’ve got all the items needed but no one showed beyond filling the jars and popping into the canner. I’ve only ever done jelly’s with a water bath. I have never used the lid to my pot yet lol. Now I know what to do!

      If you are more than 1,000 ft. altitude (I'm about 2200) then use 15lb pressure.

    Thank you!!! Could you please make a video of the canned shredded zucchini. I haven't seen anyone not put water in it, but obviously it works!!!

      Yes, I love it canned without water! It makes plenty of liquid on it's own... I will try to get that video done within the next week. 😀

    thanks. I hate the texture of my frozen squash, though for soups, dehydrated works well. Still, I'd like a second method, and I'll try your way next year.

    They don’t recommend because they lost testing papers and refuse to retest.

    What if you don’t have a pressure cooker? Are you able just to hot bath them.

    I know this is an older video but I would love to know what kind of funnel that is? I have a wide mouth stainless funnel but I love the red plastic piece that sits on the jar on this one!

    Your recycled spaghetti jars they use a regular mason lid .. I save my old pasta jars but lids don’t fit them . Is yours a certain size spaghetti jar. ? Love video .

      These are Classico sauce jars.. they have the threaded lids, same exact size as the standard mason jar.

    I think next time I can yellow squash I will leave it more into spears because they just feel so flimsy. I guess I cut them too small

    Do you precook/ blanch the squash before packing the jars?

      Florence Kirk from the appearance of the squash it looks like she did not blanch it.

      If you look at the older canning books from the 70's & 80's, they had instructions for canning zucchini. ;)

    Is it ok if you peel and blanch them first?

    • @HomesteadCorner
      @HomesteadCorner  3 года назад +2

      You can, but they may get too mushy if you blanch them.

    • @MFaith777

      @@HomesteadCorner but I was just thinking for squash pie. So that would be ok then? With no approved recipe, they had me all worried because I’m a new canner.
