New Tri-Star Ninja Boomerang: • Amazing Ninja Tri-Star...
In this video, I will show you How to Make the Ninja Star Boomerang, an amazing Paper (Origami) Ninja Star that really comes back to you! This is a brand new design I came up with recently and felt that the world needed to learn this, as it's not only fun but also simple.
I spoke to Jeremy Shafer about trying to come up with a Ninja Star that comes back and we both came up with our own designs.
Here's his Ninja Star Boomerang that he made:

This the FIRST of its kind and is not only Easy to make, but it flies so well it will amaze you.
To make it, you'll need ONLY a half-sheet of 8.5" x 11" Printer Paper, from which we will make 2 identical Pieces (or units) which will then interlock together to form the Ninja Star Boomerang. We will then create the "Air Foil" or small flap which helps the Ninja Star Boomerang return to you in an awesome circle.

Hey everyone, I noticed some people were having some trouble getting their boomerangs to return. I created a new modified tutorial you can view here: ruclips.net/video/IFPfXrmdGk0/видео.html
It discusses the best thickness (GSM) paper to use while less paper--meaning you can use ONE sheet of paper to create FOUR Ultra-Lite Ninja Star Boomerangs. It uses principles of physics, but you MUST ensure the boomerang is flat/neat, and you must throw it properly. I go over all this in the new tutorial and go over some troubleshooting tips at the end!
When I went to the Origami Convention ruclips.net/video/-WQ1Vgc_2ao/видео.html I noticed that people were mostly not throwing it properly, holding on for too long, causing the boomerang to fly downwards. It is all in the flick of the wrist. Check out the new tutorial, take some time and experiment and let me know if it helps, I want everyone to have theirs return and provide hours of enjoyment!

My very own design for a Ninja Star that comes back! After thinking about something like this for years, it's amazing that after only a few days I was able to figure out how to do it. Big thanks to Jeremy for working with me on this and trying to figure out how we can do these EPIC Ninja Star Boomerangs. Rob - I first came across your channel when I saw some older kids at my school in Australia using the ninja knot. I googled how to do it and I came across your channel. Here I found videos that would entertain me for hours folding paper boomerangs and such and throwing them around the house like any 8 year old would. I am now 15 and I still enjoy your videos and find them extremely nostalgic. Thanks for everything mate.
I remember watching you five years ago i think. I made boomerangs for every single kid in school and everyone was amazed. I also made paper poppers and we used to play with them in class. It was so funny seing the teacher saying - WHAT WAS THAT. Now i found that you are still making videos and i want to cry. Personally, I found it easier to throw the model horizontally, like you did in the Super Boomerang Tutorial (long ago). This was actually because after a wile, this model would do something like flip upside down and turn the other way or whatever. I think this was a remarkable video, and I actually believe that this has made my top 10 list (alongside the Super Boomerang) of awesome things to do. Even though I come from a different world of RUclips (gaming), I think this was one of the best origami models I have ever made. Cannot wait for more videos! THANK SO MUCH, ROB!! 😀😄😃

out of paper fusing the 2 together was a great idea I also made it with 1/2 ,1/4 and 1/8 sheets instead of the just the original 1/4

Rob, I can’t understand 4:20 when you fold the paper to the 0.8 cm of the paper because if I try, then the whole thing folds.

For those who have a hard time flying these,
1. Fix and fold the origami properly
2.Throw it like you are throwing a poker card
(lock a blade in the middle of two fingers and flick it after the initial hand movement)
What amazing is how we all once learnt a paper ninja star
and based mostly on the same design, we got so many more models

can you make a double sided ninja star boomerang
Hey Rob, my 4 year old son is a fan of yours. He is crazy about the boomerang you have mentioned in this video. I have tried making it many times. At least 50 attempts. But our boomerang doesn't operate the way yours does. Can you suggest some tips that would help us make a boomerang that flips back as yours does.
Hi Satya, I apologize for taking so long to reply. First you want to make sure you are using the proper paper. I use Letter Size printer sheets which have a thickness (GSM or grams per square meter) of around 100 should be fine. Make sure you are folding everything neatly and that the model is as flat as possible once finished. Hold your boomerang in your right hand, as I showed at the end, with the air foil/flaps facing left. Flick it outwards with your wrist straight out away from you or slightly upwards and tilting it slightly to the right can help with its return. Hope you are able to get it to fly, keep at it and you’ll get it. Thanks for watching and I’m glad your son enjoys the videos!

My boomerang kept flipping over or flying in the wrong direction. Any suggestions as to what I should do?
It will sometimes fly in the wrong direction, but it's usually due to the throw being a bit off or the wings being bent. Even so, you can do a few things. As I show at the end near 12:00, you can turn it upside down so that those 4 interlocked boxes are on the bottom. Then slightly tilt the wings upwards toward you or even round them up (slightly). Also, make sure that when you throw it you're not tilting it to the right like this / If anything try tilting it a small amount to the left like this \ before you throw it. Also, make sure that the creases and flaps are very sharp and flat and totally folded over. If anything, you can try making another one and making sure it's nice and flat or try changing the size of the flap that's bent over. Hope you get it working!
