Here's a tip they never tell you in these videos. It is almost essential to start with a hi-resolution photo that has professional lighting. It's very difficult to do this with some random picture you snapped with your phone or typical digital camera.
No problem. I just wanted to make sure you understood why so maybe people left those comments. Your work is really good! Please show us more. We can handle bad English, I promise! Like I said, no other digital painting videos on RUclips come close to this. People need to understand: You DO NOT have to have Adobe illustrator or Corel. You can do this in Photoshop AND find a good printshop that can make t-shirts and posters without changing a thing. Just always remember SAVE yOuR PSD files!!!! This way, if they go-to print, they can burn the colors properly. Also remember this: Make New Layers for EVERYTHING!!!
Thank you! :)
What a great tutorial. Top marks for making your cursor movements & selections slow & concise. I was able to follow & digest all of that without having to rewind at all. Many thanks for taking the time to help beginers like me.
You're welcome! Your comments help me complete my better videos.
thank you so much, please tell me which version PTS you use!
Photoshop CC 2015. :)
NT Photoshop thank you
This is such an incredibly elegant tutorial; all the steps are so clear, and the outcome is exactly like it makes itself out to be. All without a single word spoken. Thanks, from those of us who are more craftsmen than artists. Jeff
You're welcome! :)
j
Yeah even on my PC screen I had trouble seeing what you were clicking on. Can you say it or put the names of the filters etc in bigger text? Also what did you do at the end by her eyes and nose?
This was sooooo helpful! Thank you! Best of all was that you explained how to add a stroke to a pen path. That is what I've wanted to know for ages! You just transformed my graphic design life. I almost cried. Seriously. God bless! :)
Thank you very much! :)
Work is awesome, can you pls tell which screen recording software is used🤔
Want it to be sharper and more defined when it's finished? Duplicate your first layer, drag it to the top, do one more highpass filter on it, set to hard light and adjust opacity until you get the look you want!
nice tutorial question its cs6 or cc 2015?????
Thank you! Photoshop CC 2015.
I recommend to add an adjustment layer for contrast, color saturation and color vibrancy. Also you could combine it with duplicates of Paint Daubs (about 10% to 25% opacity) and Poster Edges (near 50%opacity) from the gallery. Amazing video.
Thank you for your comment! I will try. :)
Thanks for the tutorial. I'm wondering, what kind of resolution was the image you started with? I'm trying it with a RAW image I took, and the results aren't nearly as attractive. Is this the kind of process that works better if you start with a lower res image?
If your photos are high resolution try the values in the filters for best results. The image used for this tutorial has a resolution of 72 dpi. :)
Yup! Right after I made the comment, I scaled the image down to 72 dpi, and got much better results. Thanks.
Love the effect, would be much easier to follow you if were speaking though 🙃
Thank you!
I would have to agree. Hearing a voice-over in _any_ tutorial makes it so much easier to follow along.
at the end I use dry brush filter. It works better with my photo. thank you. you saved my day :).
This is an excellent video. I love when there-s no talking. Straight to the point.
Thank you! :)
what did you do after stroke layer
sir?
Awesome demo; easy to follow and great results. Thanks for sharing this!
You're welcome! :)
every time I use the stroke path I get a thick line! can you tell me which brush did you use?
Choose soft round Brush with size 2 px. :)
+NT Photoshop thank you so much for your quick reply!! I really appreciate that!
You're welcome! Hope it is useful to you. :)
thanks.. but speak in the video... i dont know what to do....
Yes, please say what your are doing. The first minute in, I was about to go to sleep. You know doctors office music. ZZZZZZZZZZZ
If this guy spoke like the guy who does the Blue Lightning TV photoshop tutorials this would be a 10/10 tutorial for me.
jose andres ortiz marin read the captions of the video
There aren't any captions
Lazy
Great video! But what app are you using?
Thank you for the Tutorial, It is very well done and I love the effect. I have a question though, just before the very last step you show the mouse hovering over the "stroke" layer and then suddenly there is a new layer above it with all effects applied that you called "final", how did you create this layer? Thank you for you effort and for sharing!
[Ctrl + Shift + Alt + E]. :)
@@PowerDesignVN (Ctrl + Shift + Alt + E) ¿cómo se llama ese comando amigo? ¿qué nombre tiene en el menú? :O

Wonderful. Excellent music choice as well. I'm a novice, I would benefit from voice over the music describing what you're doing. Obviously you're a pro. so that might be asking too much from a newbie. Thanks for the step by step tutorial. Well done!!!
I wish people would talk you through these videos. Would save endless stop and rewind to see where the pointer is.
Thank you!
Yea but then you would have to stop and rewind to look up English translations. :)
Kate Stevens my problem with some of these tutors is they don't speak too clearly or speaks with an accent.
I couldn't agree with you more. It is very, very frustrating because you have to follow the cursor when, at times, the cursor is difficult to follow. Or, what they should have done was leave lower-thirds indicating what was done (or about to be done) at each step.
What did you do at the end just after you finished the stroke layer?
[Ctrl + Alt + Shift + E] :)
When creating the "final" layer, what shortcut key did you use?
I forgot to explain at this step. To create it, use [Ctrl + Alt + Shift + E]. :)
I just want to know what did you do at the last step did you copy it or what. please let me know thank you.
Ctrl + Alt + Shift + E. :)
Do you have a tutorial explaining step by step please
Excellent video. What "half-moon" brush did you use for the dodge layer after applying the 50% gray fill?
I really enjoyed watching your video. The music was very relaxing and I enjoyed watching you transform the pic into a painting. Well done!
Thank you! I was worried when my video had no voice, you understood when watching this video, that was my success. ^^
Hi, how did you create the final layer? I did ctrl + J but i dont think thats right... thanks
This is a demonstration not a tutorial. The piano explains noting
The word "noting" doesn't describe the piano.
You do realize that the word demonstration and tutorial are the same thing right
You realize they're not right? a tutorial is educating someone on how to do something. A demonstration is showing what you know how to do.. e.g. Tutorials can be, but are not necessarily demonstrations.
likewise Demonstrations are not always tutorials.
caption it
You can still learn from a demonstration if you really focus into it. However... Having someone talk about it and explaining it through out the video will help.
Lovely tutorial! Can this be done "non-destructively"? Like that I could come back to any layer and adjust the effect, without having to recreate all layers above afterwards.
Thank you! :)
really great.. but I tried here following these steps. it didnt work cause the resolution of my image
If your image has low resolution, the effects will not be pretty.
Wow thank you so much!!!! Extra thanks for making this video so simple and the effects so clear! Definitely gonna watch more of your tutorials! God bless!!💖💖😇
Thanks for editing Taylor swift....💐💐💐💐💐🌺🌺🌺🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼
You're welcome!
Hi. The last step named Final, how did you create that layer. It was easy to understand but that step I am not sure how you created the layer.
I use [Ctrl + Alt + Shift + E]. I forgot to annotate it when editing video. :)
Fantastic tutorial! Love the look you ended up with. It was all straightforward, but I do have one question -- where you're manually adjusting dodging with the dodge tool, how is it switching from a full circle to a half circle for finer shape and dodge editing? I've clicked damn near every button on my keyboard and can't seem to find it, lol.
Thank you! It is a full circle, due to the software recording error so you only see half the circle. ^^
what did you do at the very end. . how did you get that final layer, like where did you duplicate it from so you can put the lens correction on it
yah
Press [Ctrl + Alt + Shift + E], you will have a layer synthetic whole layer is displayed.
8:31 what did you do?
I think it's Ctrl+Alt+Shift+E
Do you mean the moment of how he creating the final layer? I guess they are the steps: 1. Ctrl + A (Select everything); 2. Ctrl+Shift+C (copy the current view of entire canvas, no matter which layer you are); 3. Ctrl+Shift+V (Paste in place.).
its work on me
Thank you, Olina!
I was gonna comment that too LOL
thanks for the comment
hellow sir..
i have doubt in ur tutorial, detail is find at 8:30 frame
can u explain to me where u make a duplicate in Layer 1 or Final LAyer? ?
u do without explanation
And if you're feeling extra lazy, don't do anything and call it a "photo realistic digital painting"😂 I'm just playing, really cool video though, never thought about doing something like that
I like your comment. ^^
Sarah Angellis Agreed!
Whoa! Very easy to follow your logic & steps till the very end...where did that last layer, "Final" come from?
Thank you! ^^. Final: Ctrl + Alt + Shift + E
who needs words if you have such nice music
You mean the toaster in the background?
I do agree - the music is, indeed, nice and soothing. However, it does not assist in following along _any_ tutorial if you can't see the step-by-step instructions, especially when the cursor is moving very quickly.
@@montgal53 Seriously, does no one notice it sounds like it's being played out of a toaster!?
Witch app? Please say me....💓💓💓
Probably a very good tutorial but with vocal narration, most people will be lost.
Thank you for your suggestions! I will change, sure enough.
...wowwwww never think this could be done easily! thank you for sharing.
i have a question where can i download camera raw because i don't have it
just go to Adobe and search the downloads. This is not the place for RAW discussions. BTW. RAW updates are free and can be added anytime to your workflow.
:O
You're one of those nerds from forums that always talk about rules aren't you? Dorks like you aren't needed to enforce rules that don't exist in the RUclips comment section.
Is it possible to remove the chromatic aberration effect
And thx for the tutorial
You're welcome!
Only Photoshoppers who are extremely experienced and advanced would know what is being done here.... ironic, no? Why would they need a silent video? The music is the same as in a massage parlor or something. Can you imagine how much more helpful this video would be if you actually listed each step you made and each tool you used instead of just having people watch you create a composite? This is like me teaching you how to play "Eruption" by Eddie Van Halen on the guitar by just playing it real fast in front of you. It would do absolutely nothing for you unless I broke it down into small sections, played it slowly and if i was really generous, took the time to write out the music for you so you could take it home and practice it. I really don't even want to try to comprehend the loss of thought-processing behind the making of this "tutorial".... which... it most certainly IS NOT!
Thanks for your comment! I can not speak English well, so when I made this video, I tried to slow down gradually, detailed annotations, I'd say, but for now it's really hard. I always put myself in the shoes of the audience and wonder how good this yet? They easy to understand?
unlike this person above, i much prefer this style of video that has little talking and skips directly to the effects. photoshop combinations are endless and i came here just to see the types of filters/layers you used, without unnecessary explanation of very introductory level concepts of high pass filter, dodge/burn, etc. i don't think anything in this was hard to understand, but i imagine if you add some text boxes that say like, "high pass filter: changes color texture and usually used to increase sharpness in details" or "we need to brighten this area, or "dodge" it in PS lingo" etc then maybe some of these complaints will go away...
hey thank-you very much for this tutorial ..this video is very easy to understand!!! can you tell how to fade pictures
in photoshop ?
You're welcome! To blur the image you can create a new white layer on the image you want to apply the effect to, and then, at the white layer, you reduce the Opacity value.
Love it so much,, thanks man 😉
You're welcome! Glad you liked this tutorial!

8:32 - how does he add "FINAL LAYER" thank u
[Ctrl + Alt + Shifl + E] :)
El Mejor video de Photoshop que haya visto
Thank you so much! :)
I TOTALLY agree with Jose below... you need to PAUSE on the SELECTIONS and TALK about what TOOL is being selected. Really don't need the jazzy music as much as I do about the INFORMATION! After all, isn't this supposed to be a HELP video??
Thank you for your suggestions. I will change.
this may be stupid to ask but what software did that guy use?
Adobe Photoshop. :)
this would be good... if it was an actual painting instead of applying a bunch of filters to it...
i have a qustion. i tryed another picture and followed your step but the picture is not digital painting ㅠㅠcould you explain me ?
Thanks. You helped me a lot. But why didn't you talk in the video? And by the way, I will make something like this with picture of myself or my bestie. Again.. Thank you a lot! I'm commenting a year after the uploading of this video, but I really want to thank you, because this thing with the painting is reaaally awesome. Thank you very much again, my friend! ^_^
My English is not good! I really want to say in my videos, really. :(
You're welcome! :)
Meh, don't worry about that. I want to hear your voice. And as you see, my english is worse, but I'm commenting, because if I have mistakes then I correct them. I learn english from school, youtube videos and mainly gaming. So if you do not speak very good this language it doesn't matter. :) By the way, where are you from?
I'm from Viet Nam. :)
Nice :) I like Vietnam. I'm from Bulgaria, by the way. Not such a nice country.. I don't like it that much.
hey plz make a video, how to use pen tool perfectly
At the end, when did the final image, which one did you duplicate?
I forgot to take notes in the last step! You press [Ctrl + Alt + Shift + E]. :)
NT Photoshop that's what I thought. Thanks.
You're welcome!
Why cant you speak instead of subjecting us to this horrible music !!!!!
Thanks for your comments, I will try to change.
its actually nice if i would say , but.... he needs to talk
LOVE the music. perfect peaceful music for a painting vibe
Can you say me the name of this application or software... Please
Hi! how did yo get that arc brush that you are using for dodge?
It's a round brush, it's the default brush in Photoshop. :)
what program did you use?
Adobe Photoshop. :)
Excuse me, at 8:30, how did you make that layer 1?
Hey great video...but maybe if u explained why you are doing while you are doing it, that would really be great. Even beginners (like me) can understand what is what...hope you understand what i am trying to say...
Thank you for your comment! Publishing a video tutorial is a process that requires detailed content preparation. Usually when I have ideas I need a few rehearsals and then editing a video. I will change so that my people will understand. :)
NT Photoshop hi...thanx for understanding. I'll b eagerly waiting for another video tutorial :) hope u do great in the process
Thank you for your hard work creating this technique. Tried it on two of my photos and it didn't work very well. Oh well.
Try a high resolution portrait and portraiture. For example: 1500px - 1500px - 300dpi. :)
Thanks for the reply but I used higher resolution photos than that. I'm sure the method works for some photographs, for my photos it did not.
Would you like me to help you. :)
thank you! this was sooo helpful, I appreciate it!

I'm working with PS CC 2017. When I get to the film grain layer, my "filter gallery" button is disabled. Any suggestions?
You can take a screenshot and send it through my Fanpage. I have never encountered this problem. When viewing images I might know the cause of it.
I have the same problem how did you solve it?
I don't know if this has been responded to yet but check your Image/Mode/(select 8 bits not 16- should then work
After I made the comment I spent an hour of fiddling around and thats what I did, A little late but I forgot to come back and say that so thank you :)
Thanks for the response, been swamped, sorry it took so long to say thanks,
really amazing way to digital painting............thank you sir
Very happy to read your comment.
Thank You NT! Very easy, nice, and clean technique.
You're welcome!
I like it. I might have reduced nose highlight a little. Otherwise excellent. You don't need audio, the music is great. After 48 years of shooting, developing, printing and now PP. Going the artistic way really appeals. Thank you.
Thank you! ^^
which app or editing studio did you use?
Photoshop Software ^^
how did you merge all the layer?
p.s im a newbie
[Ctrl + Alt + Shift + E]. Note: Before pressing [Ctrl + Alt + Shift + E] be sure you are selecting the top layer.
thanks
TNice tutorials should be the first video that pops up when you're new to making soft
WOW that's really very easy and good way to make digital painting... and also thanks because i learn some new things..... it's really good...😉😉😉😉

Thank you for your suggestions, the next guide I will note to change.
How did you do at 8:31 to create Layer 1? Many thanks

Cool! Nice piano!
Thank you! ^^
SUPER SUPER DOPE, HELP ME OUT TONS!!!
how do you create the final layer.....
The short cut is not seen
thank you

I had a mentor from Romania. We were kind of in the same boat (that is a saying/analogy) I apologize. The work is so good that for most Photoshoppers ,(many who are beginners) it is frustrating. Even an advanced artist of software, like myself was disappointed that there were no annotations or vocal instruction. The video without instruction is definitely better than no video at all. Maybe an idea would be for you to provide a written tutorial and link it to a website with some of your artwork? What you do with people, I do with vehicles. RUclips really doesn't show people how to do this. They show too many caricatures left with original line-work and too much of an animated look, many times sketched freehand from a stylus board. Many Photoshoppers would like to know how to accurately duplicate a photograph. That information really just isn't here on RUclips. The reason I watch for digital painting is because everyone has a different way of doing things and sometimes the smallest tip is a huge help in increasing your speed, especially when you do it all day, every day. This is one of the best videos of digital painting, do you can understand why there are so many people who are disappointed that they can't just follow instructional steps.
Your comment is very helpful to me. I will try to do well in the next video.
Wow I love this tutorial! You made it so easy to follow! A million times thank you❤
Followed pretty well through the whole video. Maybe put the text box a little higher and change the music up a little bit. Awesome job, simple, but it looks great. Thank you! You don't need to change my friend.
I am happy to read your comment. You're welcome!
What command use on the last part before the Lens Correction . Tnx
wow....fantastic...love it.
Thank you!
