I agree with few comments here that Thomas might not be the best person to test this kind of game improvement iron. However, I always enjoy watching him swing regardless of what kind of iron he is testing because his swing is very consistent. Also, Thomas's swing provides what maximum values the club could provide to you. Therefore, it's easier to see if the new irons has actually improved compared to the previous model. If your swing is about 10 mph slower than Thomas's (which is about low 80s), I'd recommend you to take it 50 yards less in carry distance. Good report 2nd swing!
Long time fan here: You should have put your game shaft in this vs using the kbs 90 lol. I love the kbs 90 shaft myself but not on your level. Cobra makes the best game improvement irons imho. People will complain about lofts until they hit them. Regardless of swingspeed these will go high/far. Don't let the lofts scare you, cobra knows the formula for height/distance when it comes to their game improvement lines.
Thanks for the feedback. Many golfers worry about the lofts being strong but the GC of the head is designed to make up for that to get the ball in more optimal heights. Only challenge we had was we were provided with one stock iron from Cobra to hit. Bonded and not a fitting component so I had to hit the KBS 90. It wasn't bad but agree a little light for me. We will hopefully get our fitting components in early February - Thomas
12:00 Radspeed 7 iron is 27.5* versus 26.5* in the LTDx so 1* between them. I bought new Radspeed One length set several months ago (after hitting the LTDx) and saved myself about $500. Based on this test, the Radspeed is as good or better than the LTDx. I don't have the swing speed of Thomas (hit my 7-iron 175 yards), but my Radspeeds are great clubs, and I don't have any gapping issues with the One Length.
I have to be honest, and I am a big fan of 2nd swing, but getting Thomas to test these is a little pointless. When it comes to these sorts of clubs, could we also get Jackie or Bob to test them? They have swing speeds these clubs are designed for.
Thanks for the feedback. Jackie also completes testing for us as well when available and our goal is to include what our viewers want to see. The challenge is always consistency and not eliminating any shots out from the data. In an ideal world we would have an Iron Byron robot that could swing at slower speeds. Stay tuned for comparisons comparing the latest models and we will see what we can do getting additional contributors in the video. Of all the channels we pride ourselves on the widest variety of contributors we have a total of 6 different golfers that have recently helped us with the videos and we know that many like this - Thomas
I agree with some other comments...I'm tired of seeing Thomas conduct all the testing. Let's switch it up every now and then. There are other fitters with second swing who have different strike patterns. Wouldn't mind seeing Drew test some more as well.
Thanks for the feedback. Would you prefer lower swing speed, off center strike data etc? The challenge we have is availability of employees than can provide similar consistency. Jackie also completes testing for us as well when available and our goal is to include what our viewers want to see. We included Drew on the Rogue ST video and he actually hits it further with more speed. Any suggestions are always welcome as we want to provide our viewers with what they want to see - Thomas
@@2ndswing I would suggest doing a mix - let both Thomas and someone who has a slower more erratic swing do the videos. That would show the viewers how it impacts "Joe average" and also have Thomas to show the results with a more reliable swing. Just a thought
Hi Thomas, are you able to swing at lower swing speed consistently and therefore do two sets of tests per review, one at your normal ss and one at ten percent less ss? Another tester from competitor RUclips channel would do this by switching from left handed swing to right handed for decreased ss. This would be more meaningful to us mere mortals!
I carry the Radspeed 7 iron, position it between my Forged Tec 7 iron and my 24 degree hybrid, I have it in the black finish and you can't even see the carbon strip, but it goes
Hi Thomas Nice review. Thank you. I am lefty, play golf right handed. I play off a 12 handicap. I normally get lot of height when hit my driver or irons. Do you think these Cobra LTDx Irons suit me? Kind regards VENU
Would like to see a forgiving club challenge with shots off the toe heel and center face to see how much ball speed and spin and distance changes too see how forgiving is it really.
interesting test - it definitely goes a long way in Thomas's hands. The gapping on this set seems like it's reached the inevitable (bad) conclusion of loft jacking. To me it makes no sense to include a 20.5* 5i that few players fitting into this type of club should be hitting (that's hybrid territory and even the 6i is marginal at 23.5*) and have 5-6* gapping from 8i to GW which is likely to cause problems with too big distance gaps between clubs on approach shots?
Hi guys, when you hit clubs to show us the data, we now need a different constant so that we can compare different clubs, as the club number means nothing now. Could you always test the club that is closest to 30 degrees. The LTDx might be an 8 iron and a blade might be a 6 iron, this way we can see the technology changing the ball flights and not just jacked lofts. Thanks
Interesting idea, however very challenging. All the manufacturers send us a 7iron fitting head. If we get stock full sets in the store I could grab an 8iron an compare but we only get 7irons for comparisons and fittings. In this instance and for the Stealth video all we were provided was the stock 7iron - Thomas
I’m a mid-handicappper due to ball striking inconsistency not swing speed, so in theory I would benefit from a forgiving iron. But, game improvement irons all jack lofts like they think all mid-handicappers are searching for more distance. I’d love to see a company come out with irons that are forgiving but at more traditional lofts. Does this make sense?
Just because the standard loft of a game improvement iron is loft jacked doesn't mean we have to order them that way. I regularly retro spec (PING terminology) or order irons at 1-2* weaker for customers. Distance consistency is way better than total distance with irons - Thomas
Thanks for watching. Unfortunately that is the only option we have so far until our fitting components arrive in February, but we do appreciate Cobra for getting a sample in our hands - Thomas
Might be good for Thomas’ ego to hit these 220 but worthless to the target audience of these clubs. Same mistake made with the Stealth irons. Epic fail 2nd Swing…. The real question is can someone with an 80mph swing get these to launch and descend in an adequate window…
Thanks for the feedback! We are always taking your feedback seriously as we want to bring you what you want to see. It's never about distance with irons its consistency and stopping power. For reviews in the future would having my club speed at 80mph be better (the average amateur 7 iron speed) or providing different club speeds? - Thomas
@@2ndswing I've really enjoyed the tests where you do multiple swing speeds Thomas - and you're consistently good at it, which is rare in the YT testing community. I'd love to see a Cobra vs T300/400 vs D9 vs Stealth vs Rogue max power GI iron test at 80mph swing speed (and if you can get some toe and heel strikes mixed in to show forgiveness, that would be the holy grail). But I also love seeing my driver ball speed from a 7 iron in your hands😮😄
I got fitted this evening and these LTDx were for me, I can't wait to get them on the course.

Radspeed still looking good. New one too. I don’t see any need for more than 6-P or 6-9.

Do you know if Cobra has a replacement for their Forge Tec irons dropping this year?
I’ve played so many different irons it’s sick and the radspeeds are easiest to hit I’ve ever played
Can we get a "what's in the bag" video for Thomas's gamer setup? Be cool to compare against some of the clubs he tests.
