    The Earth won't be around to see the white dwarf phase. It will be evaporated in the red giant phase.

    • @SuperCHC1
      @SuperCHC1 8 лет назад +42

      +Ahmad Belhoul It would have to be moved way out past Mars. The sun will become HUGE, I mean so massive the only way Earth wouldn't be fried is if was way out by the Kiper Belt.

    • @SuperCHC1
      @SuperCHC1 8 лет назад +8

      +Cryptic Elements I know it won't reach Mars. I said the only way Earth wouldn't be fried to a crisp meaning, Earth would have to be out past Mars to even keep it's oceans.

      we dont know maybe the sun will lose its mass and the earths orbit gets bigger and we avoid the red giant suns phase

      Not necessarily. What you just said is just a theory. While its possible, our planet has a higher chance to survive the red giant. Plus, planets don't evaporate, they get torn apart by many things as such as scolding heat that literally rips the planet or just due to powerful gravitational waves. (Yes, those are a thing.) Lighter substances such as H2O, He, Hi and so on will be the one's to "Evaporate" and leave the planets field.

    The white dwarf scenario makes much more sense than the red supergiant idea because if the sun expanded even by 100x then there will not be pressure for fusion.

    The sun is an average star, so it will never have a supernova. It will also not just become a white dwarf. It will first expand into a red giant, have a planetary nebula, implode, then become a white dwarf. :)

    • @kenjikitsune9224
      @kenjikitsune9224 8 лет назад +4

      He said "Nova". {Definition of Nova}-a star showing a sudden large increase in brightness and then slowly returning to its original state over a few months.
      And shall I carry on?
      Yes, our star will become a red giant, and yes it can and will cause a huge catastrophe in our solar system, but please, most planets will survive, its just the inner four that may not. Earth still has a chance of surviving as the part of Red giant "Eating" it is simply a theory.

    Of course, the red giant phase, will barbeque us long before the white dwarf phase has a chance to make us a snowball :(.Either that or the sun will swell beyond our orbit, and devour us! Will there be any water left in the atmosphere to freeze? Or will it boil away into space first?

      The earth would not turn to a snowball just like it was a long time ago it would be gray and would get darker because when it froze had snowball Event the sun was able to heat the earth making the snowball vent end end of someone turn into a white dwarf and then our moon would collide with earth and the earth will crash into the sun along with Mars

    Our sun is not big enough to go super nova. Our start will become a Red Giant and then become a white dwarf. Stars that go super nova will either become a black hole or a neutron star not a white dwarf.
    Dislike for lack of research and basic science knowledge.

    • @CloudsBiggestFan

    • @ebitda8611
      @ebitda8611 8 лет назад +2

      black holes are created by hypernova...i have no idea what the hell you were talking about. Small stars like our become red giants to white dwarf. Bigger stars end with supernova. even bigger ones end with hypernova and when they turn smaller, the mass becomes very dense(which obviously bigger mass, bigger gravity) that is how black holes are created.

    The death of the sun is not called a 'nova'. A nova is the accreting of material from a regular star onto the surface of a white dwarf until it gets hot and pressurized enough to ignite it all in a relatively short time. This can thus create a "new star" from its brightness.

  • @roderickahrens5539
    @roderickahrens5539 8 лет назад +1

    When the sun loses mass in the process of becoming a dwarf star, would earth actually maintain a circular orbit because in real ice it does it over a long time (because IRL we are not editing its age by millions of years in an instant) or would it actually happen fast enough to cause earth to have an eccentric orbit?

    • @bradknightable
      @bradknightable 8 лет назад +2

      earth would actually get eaten by the sun as it expaned into a red giant before receding into a white dwarf

    • @realSteak86
      @realSteak86 2 года назад

      When the sun blows off a lot of its surface due to inner pressure, its mass will change quite fast. But still it will not change instantly. So i expect earth to kind of float into a wider orbit, without this high elliptic. However, Jupiter will also play a role. it's impossioble to predict.

    This program doesn't seem to take in account the continental drift. With the continents and oceans being completely differently orientated the distribution of warmth (and cold) will be very different from what this simulation shows.
    Also you make an error at 16:32 by saying Mercuries temperature is higher than before. That's not the case since the planet is now roughly 427 degrees Celsius.

Actually I think we never seen one single planet roaming around the universe without a orbit, right? Is that because our universe is still too young for this to happening? Thanks!

    The bottoms of the oceans wouldn't freeze, ice is a really good insulator (think about igloos) and the core of the planet would remain extremely hot. So the bottoms of the oceans may still host life. I don't think anything would survive the period where all the water was gone, but it is a possibility.
