    Went here a couple of days ago, went in the pool you call "Green Crackpot". If you have ever liked the idea of swimming in a crystal clear waterfall this might be the best place in the world to do this. Water comes straight off the mountain and is super clean compared to most waterfalls which come from rivers which are a bit filthy. Be careful about jumping into these pools the water is not that deep and there are a lot of underwater obstructions - will be a time before the paramedics get to you if it goes wrong since it is very remote.

    Would you recommend wet suits in June?

    • @RichieBrownAnAdventurer
      @RichieBrownAnAdventurer  8 месяцев назад

      It really depends on how long you plan to be in the water and what terrain your in, for me wetsuits prevent a lot of cuts and scrapes and i walk from one swim to the next swimming for hours.
      However if I'm only going to one place and in summer id definitely rather swim natural, its more enjoyable and less to carry

    can we wild camp in there?

    • @chrisdickinson4576
      @chrisdickinson4576 Год назад

      Signs say wild camping is restricted and there are rangers and organised visits (whose organisers will probably report you to the rangers). There are a few camp sites close by or you could camp on the hill near by where the roman fort is - I doubt rangers go up there.

    Legend for sharing these great spots. That's our day out planned.
    Only worry is that with the success of your channel, it'll get busy. Maybe next time, do a video of the same spots but when it's raining, which shouldn't be hard, and call it "Best Eskdale swim spots - as good as it gets", and make sure to frown throughout the video coupled with eerie music😉👍🏻😂

      😂😂😂 enjoy 😊

    • @chrisdickinson4576
      @chrisdickinson4576 Год назад

      It is already busy, when I went there must have been about 30 people in the pools there including some type of adventure camp taking people there in an organised group. Luckily there are a number of pools and chances are you will find one to yourself like I did

      @@chrisdickinson4576 There is an outward bound centre in Eskdale Green. I was there for a 3 week course in 1982 as a part of my apprenticeship. This could have been who you ran into during your visit.

    • @thrapsed

      @@chrisdickinson4576 Hi Chris. Not those waterfalls but we did go in others elsewhere, but I dont have a clue where now as it was so long ago. I recall one very hot day that a group of four of us lost our water down a steep mountainside and we went over 3 hours without a drop until we got to the next watering hole somewhere north of the Wasdale area. The other springs and gills were dry up to then but we finally came upon a pool at the base of a waterfall and firstly drank all the water we could then climbed in for a cool down. It was only waist deep but the water was pure, virtually straight out of the rockface many yards above us. I still have some photos of this somewhere as one of the lads actually had a decent camera with him and sent me the pictures. The only thing I can remember is that the falls were a couple of thousand feet up, which was a bit unusual and surprising to us.

    Went wild swimming for the first time about a month ago here! Was a BLAZING hot day so went for the first good spot I good find, which was this small pool with a waterfall and a rock beneath it that was perfect for kneeling on and getting a good back massage from the water. I think it was in one of your other videos. Definitely gonna go back and try the other pools now though!
